Laura, I am so happy to know that you and Dahlia are doing well! I wonder if you know how lucky you are? Cytotec is a drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of stomach ulcers. The drug's manufacturer has issued a warning to every OB/GYN in this country NOT to use this drug for labor induction or cervical ripening. However, it is the standard drug used by doctors for this purpose. Cytotec can have deadly results, and accounts for many women being rushed in for emergency C-sections because of circumstances such as you described. Often these women were never told of the manufacturer's warning against this use of the drug; were never told of the potential side effects of using the drug, and, when emergencies arise, they patients are not told what part Cytotec may have played in the emergency. The Internet is rife with horror stories about the disastrous application of this drug in pregnancy. I am thrilled that you and your baby are doing so well. Please, go give your beautiful daughter a kiss from a grandmother who cannot give one to her own grandchild. My grandson would have been four years old next week. He is buried on a mountainside not far from my home. I am so grateful you and your family have not had to experience such a loss. My grandson was a full-term, perfectly healthy baby, almost nine pounds, until my daughter's doctor induced her with Cytotec. It is the drug from hell, and I think it is a crime doctors continue to use it.

It seems that January is the month for early babies. Not one of my friends reached their due dates (nor did I). I had an induction scheduled because I was on insulin for gestational diabetes. The labor and delivery went really well (15 hours total and only 45 minutes of pushing, not bad for my first baby) and I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Erica Rose, on January 9th at 1:17am, weighing 6lbs 13oz and measuring 20". All those of you still waiting for your new bundles of joy - I wish you the best of luck and the healthiest of babies!

Hey everyone!  I gave birth to beautiful baby girl, Dahlia Grace, on Jan 22nd by c-section.  7lbs 10oz and 20.75in long.  I went in for my induction on thursday at 10am and when I got there my cervix wasn't dilated or effaced at all so they gave me cytotec (sp?) which caused me to go into labor an hour later.  In the following 5 hours I dilated up to 8cm and was 90% effaced...but my little girls heart rate was decelerating too much with the contractions so I got rushed off to the OR.  I had a hard recovery the following 3 days, but am happy to be home with my precious little one :)

i am doing quiet well....i had my c-section on Jan 6th(tuesday) as scheduled, was out of the hospital Thursday(1-8) mornin....i was up walkin around the night of my c-section...which shocked everyone...i hate hospitals and that, but i didn't push myself...i can tolerate the pain much better then most and i was willin to take the drugs this time...which i did even after i got out....our son weighed 8lbs 4oz and was 20 in long....he is a great baby, though he has his nights and days mixed up...but we are workin thru that...his sis is a great help for her goin on 19months she is amazin....

Well, my appointment yesterday went well. I am dilated to 2 cm and 25% effaced. I was hoping to be further along. Today I had a non-stress test and sonogram. Our girl's heart rate responded appropriately to movement and contractions and they think she'll handle the stress of labor really well. My induction is scheduled for 6 am on Tuesday, but I'm still holding out hope for a natural delivery sometime this weekend. I hope all of you are well. Best wishes.

Everything is great. He's the perfect picture of health. I had to be induced because he was growing at a fierce rate and was running out of space in there and also added a lot of pressure that wasn't to good for me. That's why had to go on bed rest for a while to avoid an involuntary early labor. I'm great aside from the 1st degree tear and as stated he's wonderful.

I hope that you do to. It was a pain in the butt just waiting around for the meds to do there thing. But then agian we had to go with a method that would induce a little slower than pitocin because I hadn't dilated at all due to the fact that I was on bed rest for about a month and a half. I had to push him down and out.

You'll definately be in my prayers. I have another appointment today at which they'll be scheduling my induction. I'm terrified of being induced. I hope that I go into labor naturally before the induction day arrives.

I woke up today feeling a bit off  (headaches, nausea, and an overall feel of soreness and fatigue).  I also am having a dull chronic lower back pain that I've never had before.  My contractions are the same frequency and irregularity that they have been for weeks now, but I am sensing a bit more downward pressure when I have some of them....could this be the begining of labor?

You can always reschedule till you go into labor if you're comfortable with that.  The doctor is not always the final say. I don't know if they can say they won't see you or not, I guess for me they would have to get me to agree to be induced. lol :)  Good luck though!!  I wish you the best. :)

I was really miserable at the end of my pregnancy my baby boy was sooo big and so low that I could barely walk and was really uncomfortable. So my doctor asked me if I wanted to be induced only a week before my due date. I'm so happy he's here now and barely even think of the pregnancy.

Well, I had my baby boy yesterday morning! I was almost 37 1/2 weeks along, we were in the hospital 31 hours before the baby was born. It is so amazing to have gone through that again and be blessed with another beautiful and healthy baby! Good luck to those who have not had theirs yet, and congrats to those who have!

I'm 39 weeks. I was dilated to 1cm at my visit last week. I have an appointment this afternoon and I'm hoping that I've made some progress. I too am having trouble sleeping, mostly due to hip/pelvis pain. I am excited that this is my last week at work (I'm an ER nurse) as the 12 hour shifts are getting tough. I keep hoping that I'll go into labor today so that I don't have to go to work tomorrow! Good luck to everyone!

I'm due this thursday.  I have a lot of contractions each day but nothing painful.  I wasn't dilated at my 38 week doctor visit.  My induction is scheduled for the 22nd (10 days from now).  I'm hoping to go into labor naturally before that though. Good Luck to everyone that is expecting!

I had a c-section with my last and am doing a VBAC (vagnal birth after c-section) and I'm nurvous too! C-section is realitively quick, painless and worth it to make sure your baby gets out safely. THe recovery is like any other surgery, just be patient and walk as much as possible and you will be back to normal in no time! Just take a deep breath, everything about having a baby brings on anxiety but c-sections are routine and EASY!!!! Do not be worried!!!! I'm comming up to 39 weeks myself and can not wait to get this baby out!

I am due tomorrow and am ready!!! Been having braxton-hicks contractions a lot lately and as of last night feel like my little one is trying to push himself out! So much pressure when I am doing anything besides sitting/laying. Very exciting and anxious to meet our son. Hope everyont is doing well at the end of their pregnancy.

We had Jacoby on Jan 6th at 8:31am....he weighed 8lbs 4oz and was 20in long....he has dark brown hair and dark blue eyes....he is so perfect....I'll post pix for you all to see...Good luck mommies...

37 weeks, been to the hospital once last friday.... with contractions every 2 minutes. sadly though, im only 1 cm dilated & 70% effaced. i was sent home because i had made no progress by morning.. still waiting, lots of painful contractions (just not in a pattern) but ive been feeling odd pains in my lower abdomen. saw the doctor on thursday, the baby is small (but i was only a 6 pounder myself) but otherwise healthy and very active. I have a scheduled induction date for Jan 28th

I lost my plug the 6th...So Im due anyday but due date is the 14th! Im so anxious. I get scared when Im alone bc Im not sure what to do while Hubby is at work. At times I wanna stay at my job but my body cant handle a 12 hour day til Hubby gets off. Today has been depressin bc I wanna hold him so bad. I have been waitin for years to be a mom and family, and nows hes here but not in my arms just yet...Hes just a few more days til he comes but its the wait.I been waitin long enough ;-) I didnt go to Church today even though I know it would of made me feel better but yet I was not ready for people to ask me questions like,,,How much longer...You aint had him yet....Makes me sad everytime I think about it..Its just one of them days in the dark closet just waitin. I know it will get better speacially when the day is here, Its just that waitin!!!!!!!!

I am 40 weeks and 3 days...and each day gets a bit rougher. I too am having a harder time sleeping (although the crazy rain here in WA isn't helping...it sounds like hail on our roof). My midwife will be inducing me sometime next week if I haven't delivered...which is nerve racking and reassuring all at the same time. I'm definitely ready to meet my baby girl! Oh...the worse part about being SO pregnant is my sore pelvic bone and low back pain.

Im 39 weeks, and still waitin but feel good! I got 6 more days to go!!! It gets really inpatient duren the last couple weeks! Sleepin gets less also. I have crazy dreams, cant get comfy, Up every hour peein...lol..BUT I LOVE IT!

I am over 35 weeks and the little guy is hanging on. I am all set to go with a bag for me and one for baby. I am hoping to make it to my c-section on Jan.26th at which time i will be 39 weeks exactly.

I am looking forward to no more acid reflux and nausea which has been the worst at the third trimester.

Yes, I have hit 36 weeks. Have another weekly doc app today, so I am excited to just see how/if things are progressing. I actually called my ob for the first time because things weren't slowing down, but mostly to let her know what was going on. I am just doing everything I can to not go in to the hospital just to be sent home, because I can't stand that. Still getting sick every day, but not worried about that as it is only one meal a day I lose, lol. Congrats to Dena and Shannon, as yesterday and today are your scheduled dates!

I'm about ready to burst at the seams, so to speak....i've had my contractions stopped on more then one occasion so i'm glad that i'm at the end of the pg...though after this one i am havin my tubes tided, which i'm nervous on but it's for the best....I will be 39weeks on tuesday which is the day i'm scheduled for my c-section....so good luck to all you moms and new moms.....

I'm 37 weeks now, and at my last visit to my midwife she found out that my baby has dropped very deep:) I get contractions like 50 times or more every day but without any pains... but during the night I wake up every now and then with menstrual cramps like pain that go away if I stand up and walk a little bit :)
I have planned to give birth at my home and since I hit the 37 weeks wall, I am safe to do so now :D
Is there anyone else here that has planned a homebirth?

My first son was 8lbs 7ozs and I have a narrow pelvis, so he never dropped. This one isn't either. They are predicting a 9 pounder this time. I'm scheduled for Monday the 5th and it can't come sooner this time!! Good luck to everyone!!

I'm 36 weeks today and yesterday I actually felt my daughter drop. It was the most scary/amazing feeling ever. I'm just ready to be done. I have also been sick except mine is every day. It sucks but I've become accepting of it.

Hey! I'm 37 weeks also. I have an ultrasound next week. They think she's dropped already, but they want to check to see if that's why I'm measuring less than I was. They also think she's going to be on the small side, 6 pounds-ish. I am also a teacher. I have a workday on Friday and the kids come back on Monday. She's due the 19th and I wanted to keep teaching until the 16th, but we'll see. Getting ready for the sub plans is about to kill me and I need to do report cards before I go. I just hope she waits until I get that stuff finished! Good luck to you!

I'm new to this forum but thought i'd jump right in! :o) I'm 37 weeks and so far things are going great! I saw my doctor today and he said i'm dilated to a 1 1/2 so things are moving along nicely. I'm tired a lot right now-of course I have an almost 4 year old and 2 year old that keep me quite busy! All in all i'm just getting really excited about meeting this little one and finally finding out if it's a boy or girl!! :o)

I'm a month away from my due date and I'm feeling just about ready to pop! I'm a teacher so I'm off from work until January 5th. The thought of going back to work boggles my mind. There is no way I can be the active teacher I have always been. Lots of lessons right from my rocking chair!

My hospital bag is packed and ready to go. We are ready for the peanut to arrive! I am the youngest of 8 children and my mom had everyone early (about a week) except for me. Doesn't that figure!

Hope you make it to atleast 36 weeks!
