How often do your 13 month olds nap?

My daughter is going to be 13 months in 2 days she is starting to only take one nap a day now. she started to take it in the moring time, but now its in the afternoon. she usually goes to bed around 8:30 or 9:00p.m. . She usally wakes up at 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning but today she decided to wake up at 7:30 a.m. .

Hello cheryl. My son is 14 months and he sleeps good when I put him to bed at 930 and sleeps till 8. But when I put him for afternoon nap beacause he is tired, he refuses to sleep.he will just keep crying. I let him cry for 15 minits then bring him out. If he doesn't sleep then I get him up and put him for a nap around 6 , by that time he is just so tired hell usually go right to sleep from any where to 30 min to an hour and a half. He just started fussing when its time for his naps. He used to nap 3 times a day now he's down to once a day. Does anyone have an idea how to make it easier for him to nap without crying for so long?

My son is 14 mos now and still napping twice a day - we've found that he can do more than 3 hrs awake before getting really cranky - ideally we get him down at around 2 1/2 hrs. He wakes up at 7am, goes down for nap 1 at 9:30am and then generally sleeps 2 hrs and goes down for his afternoon nap around 2:30pm (depending how long he slept in he morning) and gets up around 4:30pm. We try to get him down for the night between 7:30 and 8 (sometimes earlier depending how long he sleeps in the afternoon). I work full time from home and so the evenings can get a little crazy. Even when he does occasionally doesn't sleep - I put him down for his nap and he'll play in his crib - I leave him for up to 1 1/2 hrs (as long as he's not crying) - that's his "rest" time even if he doesn't sleep - most info I've read says to try and keep 2 naps until 18 mos though some kids do phase out sooner, but I will probably push the morning nap later until it becomes 1 nap a day - say 12-2 (or 3). We started one nap when our daughter Lilly turned 1. This nap is usually 3 hours long and we put her down after lunch around 1PM. She usually likes to play in her crib before and after her nap so sometimes it's 3 1/2 hours. She goes to bed around 8:30 and wakes up around 8:00.

If it is closer to 8, she can make it until after lunch and then goes down. She is usually down between 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours, depending on how much running around she has done that morning. I just try and pay attention to her cues to see when she is tired. Every day is different.

I realize you all get up too early, we apparantly like to sleep in. My daughter, Brookely is 14m and I have a 4 year old. Brookelyn goes to bed at 10p wakes up about 9/9:30 and then we take a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon about 2pm. If she doesn't get a good nap I do put her down at 6pm for about an hour. I think it depends on the quality of the nap not on how many ;)

my son zac is 14 mths, i have tried to only give him one sleep, but it dosent work.

i think 2, 1-2hrs sleeps dont hurt. zac wakes at 6am has a botle and then breakfast, bed at 10am then again round 4pm and all night at 9pm so his sleeping when he likes.... i can see when his ready for bed, so i think when the are old enough they cut the sleep put by their self. i hope thats not all jiberish :)

my daughter is going to bed at 8pm every night and waking up at 8 and then i feed her breakfast and let her run around for a while unti like 12 or 1 and then i put her down for a nap and she naps until 3 or 4.

My daughter dropped her morning nap at around 8 months. Now if she falls asleep in the morning, it screws up her schedule for that day. She just takes 1 2 hour nap in the early afternoon. =)

my daughter was 11 months old when she started having 1 nap a day....if she had 2 she would be up until 9:00 sometimes later because she wasnt tired, and mommy needs some quiet time..lol.. so i just started putting her in around 1 and she would sleep till 3, then go to bed at 7:30- 8 sleep for 12 hours and do it all again the next day..lol now she is usually in for a nap no later than 2 and she will sleep for 1-2 hours...unless we are out then she just passes out in her carseat or stroller for like 40 mins but shes fine for the rest of the day...as long as she has a little nap shes alright.

My daughter is 15mths and she stopped taking 2 naps around the 13mth mark. She now has a 2 - 21/2 hr nap from around 12 - 2 which seems to work for her as she then goes to bed at 7.30 and sleeps 12hrs.... i think its whatever works for you and your child... they will stop having 2 naps though as they become more active and investigative.

My twin boys are 14mths and use to sleep for 30mins in the morning around 9am and then for two hours from around 1230-230- since they turned 1 they dont have a morning nap they just have 2-3hr sleep from around 12 or so. When they go to day care three days a week they only have 1/2hr there sometimes which can make them cranky in the arfo, They go to bed from 7pm to around 7.30-8.00am. Sometimes I give them there bottle at 7.30 and they go back to sleep until 9-9.30 and still have their nap at lunch time.

My son Logan who just turned 13 months..takes a nap in the early morning.. between 11 and 12 and then takes another one later in the evening at like 5- 5:30.. then goes to bed between 8 and 9... i use to try to keep him from taking the later nap but it was useless.. he needs and wants it.. haha he sleeps both naps anywhere from an hour to 3 hours.. with his later nap around 5 we usually dont let him sleep past 6:30. just so he does go to bed at a decent time. plus with the later nap it makes him more cuddly as he wears down for good for the night... hoped it help...

I have a daughter who is a catnapper too. She takes one morning nap. ( half hour to 45 min around 11am and then another 30 min or so nap at 4pm Sometimes I get lucky and she will sleep for 1 hr. She goes in at 9 pm and gets up around 8. I guess she does not need that much sleep. She is a complete opposite of how my son was at this age. She cries during the night a lot so I just put her by me and pat her butt. Is either that or I don't get any sleep. You do what you have to do.

Our naps are kind of sporadic right now. For the past two days, my son (14 months) has been taking one nap in the middle of the day for two hours. Then, he has been sleeping in an extra hour in the morning. The past few months have been pretty crazy as far as naps go.

My 13 month old takes 2 naps usually. Sometimes she will take one from 12-3 and stay up until 7. At least she has one good long nap sometime during the day if not 2 :)

my daughter is 14 1/2 month and takes 3 1-2 hr naps a day. I guess you can say im very lucky but I have a feeling it wont last fopr long. :)

my 13.5 mo is down to one 1-2 hour nap in the middle of the day and to bed by 8. Its not really based on age... you really have to to just go by what the child needs. Some children need more sleep than others. But make sure to give the child enough sleep, or it will result in crankiness, bad behavior and ultimately getting sick easier.

I am in the same with my son, he takes a 2 hour nap in the early afternoon and then it is torture to keep him up past 7:30. And he still cries when I put him in bed but not for long. One nap a day and he is like the energizer bunny till 6 and he is slowing down and getting ready to sleep.

My daughter is going to be 14 months in another two days. She still takes 2 naps a day....sleeps for about 10 hours in the night. Our schedules are a bit awkward. We both would get up around 10 in the morning; when it is time for my husband to leave for office. He shall return only in the night at 11pm. Then, she plays with her father and we go to bed by 1am. If she is very tired; she would go off to sleep by 12:30 and wake up by 10am or more.



During d day - she needs two naps; after 3-4 hours of activiity. d second nap wil be only after 5 hours for 30-45 mins. And then again back to sleep at midnight.

My son is 13months and he used take 2 naps a day,but then all of asudden he didn't want to go to bed till at least 12pm at night,and would be up at 6 in the mornig. Then he was sleepy and angry the whole day long. So I decided to change his nap times,what I did was put him down for a nap once a day. I usally put him down at about 11:30 in the morning then he takes a 3hour nap,then when he wakes up he has enough energy to go untill 8 at night,and then he sleeps untill 7:30 in the morning. It has worked much better for my son this way cause he gets the rest he needs at night.

Our 13 month old boy will only have 2 naps a day if he has an early 1st sleep and then gets really worn out through the day! He sleeps from 7-8.30. When he dropped from 3 to 2 sleeps we just made his bedtime earlier and he still woke up at the same time in the morning.

My son is 14months and he gets sleepy around 9 or 10 but doesnt actually take his nap until 1230 or 1. He will sleep until about 2 or 3 and then be up and ready to go until bedtime between 730 and 8.

My son stopped taking two naps at 9 months. He takes a 1-2 hour nap around 10 or 11am and then he is up playing for the rest of the day. Around 6 o'clock he starts getting real cranky and tired. About 6:30pm, he is asleep. I try to keep him up until 7pm, but my little guy can't handle it with one nap. He usually sleeps from 6:30pm to about 7am.

my son started doing that, but after a week I noticed he just wanted his naps later in the morning and afternoon. He wanted to be awake for more time. I don't think they switch to one nap until 16-18 months. Try putting him down an hour later than before and see if he will take his 2 naps. Hope he gets easier!

My 14 month old only takes one nap a day. But I think that has alot to do with the fact that she doesn't wake up til about 10am usually. Great for me! lol She goes to bed at 9pm so she gets about 13 hours of sleep at night, sometimes more. Naptime during the day is usually between 1-2 and she will sleep for about 2-3 hours.

I waited one night to put him to bed at 10 pm and he was still up at 7:30am, I beg him to lay with us and go back to sleep but he is ready for the day. Oh well it does me good to start my day early maybe I will get used to getting up early. :)

mine only takes one nap that lasts 2 1/2 to 3 hr.she goes to sleep at 11:30 or 12 and doesnt wake up till 2:30 almost 3 and then she goes to bed at 8:30 and she wakes up the next morning between 7:30 and 8:30

My son was taking 2 naps too until he turned one and now he takes 1 nap for 2 hours and is ready for bed at 7:30-8:00 and sleeps through the night and up at 7:30am.

My son used to take 2 naps one in the morning and one in the afternoon. He just recently started only taking one nap so i try to have him stay up until the afternoon to take it. Sometime after lunch. That way he can go to bed between 8 and 9.

My little guy Liam just turned 14 months and we are down to one nap a day... I am a stay at home mom so he tends to sleep in a little later in the morning... Some days he sleeps until 9:30 or 10 am, so I can get away with keeping him up until 1:30 or 2... Then he will take a good 2 1/2 to 3 hour nap... If he wakes up any earlier then 9:30 or 10 I usually lay him down at around 12:30 or 1:00... He is a good sleeper and we are so blessed! I am pregnant with our second due in June, so I am lucky he lets me rest!

My daughter is 14 months today and almost directly after she turned 1 she dropped a nap. She sleeps generally from about 10h30 to 12h00 everyday and is tired in the afternoons but refuses to nap again. I bath her at 6pm and she is asleep by 18h30 / 18h45 and wakes up anytime from 6h15 the next morning. BUT I find on the odd occassion that she does have another nap she only gets to sleep at 9pm that night - which is too late as she still wakes up at 06h30 ... so I think 1 nap is sufficient at this age :-)

My son kind of got himself on his own sleep schedule. He takes a nap about 3 hours after he wakes up in the morning and sleeps anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours and then is up til 9-9:30pm. Plus, he sleeps 10-12 hours at night. Sometimes if his 1st nap or we have to get up early is cut short he will take a second nap. He has been doing the 1 nap thing since 11 months.

My daughter only takes one nap a day. Its usually b/t the hours of 1-3. Thats only if she didn't take a morning nap. If she takes her morning nap the she says up all day and goes to sleep around her regular bed time.

I think my son is transitioning to one nap a day, but he still takes 2 naps every so often. He sleeps about 11 hours a night, from 9-8 and naps between 2-3 hours a day whether it's 1 or 2 naps

My little girl Emily naps 2-3 hours a day, she likes to sleep 2 hours after lunch and then after supper for an hour. Emily sleeps 11-12 hours each night as will.

I have twin girls who are 14 months. Most days they take a short morning nap - 30 minutes to an hour around 9:30 am, and then they usually take a longer afternoon nap - 1:30 to 3:30. I say usually because there are some days where they refuse to take a nap in the morning and only will have an afternoon nap. So I play it by ear and try to naps. My girls sleep through the night from 8:00pm - 6:00am or a little later some mornings. (one of my twins will sleep until 7:00 am most mornings). My best advice is to play it day by day with your little one. My thought is the afernoon nap is the better of the two - mine usually sleep longer and are more rested. Good luck!!

My son will be 14 months on the 16th. He usually goes to bed at night between 8-10pm. He sleeps until around 7-9am. About three hours after he wakes up in the morning he's ready for his nap. Lately these naps have been between 3-4 hours, when they were 2 hours he would take another nap later but now he only takes the one. Then he runs around until he's ready for bed that night. My daughter takes only 20 to 30 min in the mornings, she doesnt nap in the afternoon. but at night she sleeps throughout, though she will wake up when she need a bottle.

my daughter is 14 months old and she has one 1 hour nap a day usually in the afternoon!! now she is sleeping 7-5 she wants to take a nap in the morning by about 11 and then she dont nap in the afternoon just like your son she then wants to go to bed at 6!! i just try and keep her awake and amused till about 12.30-1 then she will nap till bout 2 ish then she can last till bedtime!!

My son is almost 14 months old. He's always been a good sleeper, going 12 hours a night from just a few months old. He also used to have 2 daytime naps as well, but these reduced to just 1 afternoon nap about 3 months ago (at 11 months). His routine now is a nap from 1pm until around 3-3.30, then bed at 8pm, up at 8am. He never wants a morning nap and only gets tired by about 1 o clock. I guess all babies are different. It will also depend on what his/her daytime activities are and how much stimulation they get.
