I have one child and am wondering if I should feel obligated to have another so that my child has a sibling?

Have a child because you want one and are ready not because you feel obligated

There is never any obligation to have another child. If you don't really want another then there is absolutely no reason you should have one. Your child will be just fine as an only child. If you want another child because you ACTUALLy want another child then by all means go ahead. However don't do it just because you want your child to have a sibling, you have to want to love another one.

I've been thinking about that lately too.

I don't want to feel obligated, but I would like my daughter to have a sibling. Both of us have younger siblings and so I think we will.

Good luck! I think the it should be yours and your significant others decision.

You should never feel obligated to have a child. If you want another for her to have a sibling, do it. If not, an only child is not a bad thing either. Never feel forced into children for any reason...
