I need help ladies!! My 3 year old little boy is refusing to go to the potty! He knows when he has to potty and tells me when he has pooped or peed! When we are outside playing and he has on big boy underwear he just pees through them instead of wanting to pull them down. I need some ideas and advice on trying to encourage him to use the big boy pot!!! Please help!! I am open to any ideas that may help!!

Thank yall ladies SSSSOOOOO very much for your responses!! My little man is doing SSSOOO much better!! :)~ During the day he wears only underwear with no accidents. At night he still has to wear a pullup but he does so good with peeing and pooping in the big boy pot!! I got him one of those cushioned toddler seats that goes on the toilet with cars on it and he actually refuses to use it!! HAHA He would just rather sit on the seat by himself!! He chose a turtle stepping stool that he had in his room to put infront of the toilet LOL

my son is same age i was getting so frustrated just give up for a bit and encorage (dont force) him to go again later then praise the crap out if him when he does! (with words, smiles and claps not gifts) he will know when he is ready dont stress hes still young it will happen!!

Hello! i saw not many people had replied to this so i thought id leave a little comment. My 3y/o tells me when he needs to pee and will ask to use the big boy toilet and seat (he has a cushioned toddler seat with animals on, which helped in persuading him to use the toilet as he didnt like the potty either!) but he still doesnt tell me when he needs to poop, and as hes still not dry through the night time,he is still wearing pull ups at bed time which is when he will go poop. so hes holding it in all day and then as soon as hes got a pull up on he will go!! To get him to go on the toilet i told him he wasn't allowed to do nice things, such as playing in the garden or watching his favourite tv programme until he had been to the toilet like a big boy and wasnt allowed to do "big boy things" if he was still wearing nappies like a baby. and always made such a massive deal when he did go on the toilet. i also had a star chart which helped alot!! hope this has helped some what... good luck!!

sorry mary ann my son has been toilet trained for awhile now he never used a potty he refused too sit on one. have u tried treats and there are books you can get for kids about using a potty or toilet
