laid back baby, new cryer

I agree that it is probably just a phase, my girl has also suddenly gone from laid back to more upset at night especially (and apparently crying peaks around 12 weeks and then starts to taper off again). Is your baby breast or bottle fed? One thing we have started to do is giving her a bottle of expressed milk at night because my milk supply is lower in the evening and so she gets some milk I have expressed during the day (usually around 50mL) and then breast until she is satiated. Bath is great too, we use the bath routine. Bath, bottle, breast, book, bed :) And since introducing the extra milk she has started to sleep longer, sleeping 8 hours - feed - 4 hours - morning

A pacifer always calms my son for his naps and he goes right to sleep! Every night I give him a bath (some nights not with soap) just the warm water calms him down. It is part of our routine. Then he eats and falls right to sleep.

he sleeps alot during the day... about 5 to 6 hours but he deff needs it.  The difference is during the day he is fine and just goes asleep.  when he starts to look sleepy i put him in the crib and he goes asleep just fine, at nite he just keeps crying and then calms and i put him down and he crys, i hope it passes with time...

Hi!

My boy is 10 weeks old too and he's also started crying quite adamantly when we put him to bed very recently, both during the day and at night. I thought it was because he was overly tired too, and that may have something to do with it, but I also think it's because he's going through a major development mentally. At about 8 weeks they take a leap forward (my son came two weeks early, so 10 weeks for him) and that can cause them to be more needy than usual.  It will probably pass soon, at least, that's what I'm thinking.

I console him in his crib by holding him really close (I'm practically lying in the crib :-)) and just whispering calmly in his ear. You know, things like "you're just going to sleep, mummy's here" and so on. After a couple of minutes of crying he calms down and I keep my hands on him until he's almost asleep. I leave the room once he's calm. If he starts crying again I go straight back in again and repeat the whole procedure. Took me 30 minutes to get him to go down tonight but I would never leave him to cry alone.

My boy  sleeps about 3 hours during the day. How about yours?
