Recommendations for 1st walking shoes

[deleted account] ( 12 moms have responded )

My son turns 1 on Jan 31. He has been walking for a month and a half now but mostly indoors. It's time for us to get him outdoor walking shoes. But he has super chunky feet so shoes like Robeez, See Kai Run, and other slip on shoes are too tight and dig into his chunky feet. We tried on some sneakers with laces for him and he hated them and threw a fit. Does anyone have any shoe recs?

Target has shoes called Skidders they are like socks with thick rubber soles and they are great!

I highly recommend Livie and Luca, the best shoes ever! Great for developing feet. We love ours!

You can also try skidders. They are for indoor and outdoor. They have rubber bottoms but you could almost roll them up so they should be really comfortable. I dont know if they would fit for wide feet though.

Hi Rebecca,
Since my little guy has been walking and now running since November, I was told he should have rubber sole shoes when he's walking/running outside in the park, malls, and on sidewalks. We ended up getting a super xxw Stride Rite light weight sneakers that were on sale. They are sooo expensive. Unfortunately the knock offs, robeez and most pedipeds are not wide enough for my guy's chunky feet. Thanks for your reply.

Robeez, pedipeds. target sells a great knock off brand and they are only $10 and you getalot of use just like the expensive brands and you cn get like 3 or 4 pairs for the price of one. hard sole shoes are not suggested because soft sole shoes help with learning before you put a heavy hunck of rubber

Absolutely Stride Rite! You can get them in all different sizes including wide and extra wide!

Stride Rite definitely. My mom swore by it when me and my sisters and brother were kids..and I LOVE them. The fact that there's a stride rite down the street doesn't hurt either : )
Oh man I'm following my mom's footsteps.. scary!
