I had to be induced a week early due to low amniotic fluid and our baby girl came out weighing 5lbs 12oz and was 20 inches in length... so she was preemie size, but full-term.

i think that was to me... lol. and yea she was super long and thin. we were all surprised. shes now 10 lbs 7oz and 21.25 inches long. so shes still small for her age but shes at least doubled because she was down to 5lbs 3 oz for a week or so.

My oldest daughter was born October 25, 2006, they induced me "two weeks" early. Her original due was November 8th, 2006. I truly think my daughter was born much early. She weighed 5 pounds 6 oz. The weight is on the small side, but she ended up having signs of being premature. At 1 week she ended up with pneumonia, then at 2 weeks she had to have a breathing machine that she needed to be on every 15 minutes for 6 hours.

whyd they induce you two weeks early? did they ever say anything after she was born and have problems that maybe they calculated wrong?

Our now 3yr old was born at 32 +1 weeks.... he was 4lb 7oz (2015g) on 7 Dec 2005 ~ due Jan 30 2006... complicated pregnancy... had a very complicated pregnancy with him.... I lost his twin at 13wks, early labour at 19wks which they stopped thank god! Another early labour at 23wks, after which I was confined to bedrest... Finally allowed up off bedrest at 29wks to have my waters break the following week..... And delivered him drug free at 32 wks after a spontaneous 3hr labour.....

ohhh wow. that had to be scary especially with the first one, since you were probably more prepared for your second since you know what was gonna happen.

Hi again, its similar to incompatable blood rhesus but is actually rare genes. My daughter spilt blood in me from first labour and body made antibodies called anti kell to clean up foreign blood and gene which stays in your body around 7 years and affects later pregnancies by eating their blood cells until they become aneamic. My son had two transfusions and top up at birth and daughter had 4 transfusions and one at 5 weeks old.

Hi my son was born 5 weeks early weighing 5lb 3oz. We spent 2 days in the hospital. But my labour actually started while i was at the movies (Bedtime Stories lol) 7pm. I didnt really think anything of it because it was so early and it only felt like menstraul cramps so when i got home i tried to go to bed with no luck. We went into the hospital at midnught. They we going to send me home because my contractions weren't very strong. But then they checked me just to be safe because i was having some bleeding and i was 5cm already lol. All the nurses were amazed at how happy and calm i was. I ended up having my son at 9:52 the next morning! It was a great experience for me. I was pretty scared because it was my first but he turned out to be a great birth. Gives me the glimmer of hope that next time it will be this great! Nothing compairs to having him in my arms though and home with me every day :) congrats to all you other moms :D

Hi. I'm new to this community. My youngest was born 5 weeks early. Born Jan 1st he was taken away to another hospital where he spent his first 4 weeks of life. Though a preemie he was still a hefty 7lbs 4oz due to swelling. He dropped down to 6lbs 4oz after a couple of days. 19 1/4 inches long. Hes doing really well now.

Wow! he was an awesome weight... what was wrong that he had to be in the hospital??

Hi my son was born 6 weeks early at 4Ib 15oz, 46cm and I had my daughter Jan 14th this year at 5 week premature weighing 5Ibs 10oz at 45.5 cm. They had closely monitored pregnancies requiring blood tranfusions in utero due to rare antibodies that attcked there blood cells causing anemia. My son is strong healthy 2 yr old and baby girl may need one more top up but well! How was you birth?

Is that the problem where your blood and the babies arent compatiable?? or something different??

I went into labor at 33 weeks and spent the night in the hospital on meds and getting steroid shots. they sent me home and i had to take pills every 3 or 4 hours and be on bed rest. I was in the hospital like 5 times between the time i went into labor and when she was born. (having contractions for two weeks sucks.. especially when its all back labor) Thank god it worked for alittle while 2 and half weeks later she decided she wasnt gonna stay in anymore, they tried a couple other meds and they didnt work.

Some how we got really lucky and she didnt have to stay in the hospital longer than normal but we were at the doc everyday for like 2 weeks. She was 5lbs 11oz and 19 1/2 inches long when she was born. She had to have her weight checked alot, she lost too much weight and wasnt gaining it back so we had to switch to special formula with more calories. and now she has reflux and a problem with lactose, so we had to switch it again and now we have to mix it so it has more calories. We also had to go to a speech therapist because she was having problems learning to eat. but she learned super fast, even the therapist was happy and surprised how well she did.

Hi Tonya,

My twins were born 8 weeks early (due 19th March, born 21st January).

Harry weighed 1.8kg (just over 4 pounds) and Charlotte only 1.5kg (just over 3 pounds).

They spent the first 7 weeks in hospital and are now home and doing well.

Harry is now 3.7kg ( around 8 1/2 pounds) and Charlotte has just hit 3kg (about 6 1/2 pounds).

Did your daughter need to stay in the hospital long?
