My daughter will be one on the 16th this month.

I was wondering when do you plan on ditching the baby food and the formula?

My daughter pretty much decided for us that she didn't want the baby food any more. We feed her cheese, fruit (she loves loves loves bananas) and soft veggies. She is very independent and loves to be able to feed herself...demands it even!

We used to buy formula 10 cans at a time and once that last can was gone (about 2 weeks ago) we switched her to D milk and sippie cups (bottle at bed time).

um whole milk at 9 months as well as regular table food. he has 11 teeth and eats pretty much everything. right now we're going through a rebellious phase with food cause he recently had surgery and just doesnt want to eat. whole milk was gradual change from formula to cows milk that took about 2 months cause the whole milk constipates them if you switch over too quickly. thats the problem we were having. and we were using only a sippy cup until he had his operation. and we're back on the bottle until his casts come off. he has 5 teeth coming in at once so he doesnt want his cup just the bottle. he loves the unsweetened applesauce though...

I switched from formula to Cows milk at about 10 months old & she took to it perfectly. She had no problems at all with the transition & at about the same time I stopped using a bottle, I started to give her a sippy cup instead and she took to that great also.

I made most of my daughters food for her but I have given her shop bought baby food (Mainly Rafferty's Garden) as i haven't always had time to make some up. I have basically fed her what we eat from about 6 months slowly introducing things.

I think its whatever you feel comfortable with :)

We started our daughter on "big girl" foods at about 11 months because she wanted to eat whatever we were.. and NOT her baby food. lol Then gave her cow's milk on her 1st birthday (the 17th). She has been doing great with it!!

I took my son off of formula when he was 11 months and put him on cows milk and when he was 10 months he got table food.

Ada still gets breast milk in the am and pm, but has whole cow milk during the day. We give it to her in an open cup and she holds it with both hands (but we started giving her water like that from the beginning of her solid food consumption- at 6 mo.). She gets water from a sippy cup during the day. She wanted to start finger food around 8 months and we just let her have whatever she wants. When she has a cold (more often than I would like, such is the life of daycare) she tends to want the pureed stuff. Otherwise she eats what we eat- spices and all. She started having spices at about 9 mo. She LOVES food and even enjoys chili and curry! Makes our lives easier to only have to cook one thing.

With Christian, (and my other children were the same) when he turned 1 January 8th, we progressively switched to milk and he still eats baby food occasionally but, definitely more table food. He gets one bottle at night which will be gone soon since he's doing so well.

i don't know where to start, my baby is 1 year and two weeks old, she is on two bottles still a day, formula in the morning and cow at bed time. She seems to be going a bit fussy with some of the baby food but when i try her on finger food she just pulls it to pieces and make at mess all over her tray. she will eat banana, biscuits, bread sticks, the corn crisp things, dried prunes & apricots, cucumber, fish fingers, pears, peaches, mango & melon fine, but things like cauli, brocli, carrots, pasta she just gets in a right mess with. I guess it's just trial and error, but i am finding it hard work knowing what to give and making it fluffing and nutritious.

my 1 year old has not liked baby food since she was about 8mths old and didn't like us feeding her either so she has eaten what we eat since 8mths and has fed herself since then to, always very messy but at least she eats. I have still got her on formula though and am thinking off getting her off it soon but not in any hurry, she's happy so we're happy

My son turned 1 on Jan. 15th. I took him off formula about 2 weeks before his first birthday and switched him to whole milk. For a couple weeks before that I was using half formula and half whole milk just to make sure the milk didn't upset his belly. My son still eats baby food and some "big boy" foods such as mashed potatoes, pieces of banana, soft pieces of carrots, beans, spaghetti, avocado, tomato, and he has tried eggs. I'm kind of nervous to try anything else because I don't want him to choke. Veggies like green beans and peas I'm nervous about giving him because of the casings. My son refuses to eat his baby cereals any more though, so he has decided for me that he is ready to move on; ;)

We got rid of the formula about 2 weeks before my daughter turned 1 because we weren't going to buy a new container and she was doing well with the whole milk. As far as the baby food, we got rid of that by like 9 months, we talked with her doctor who said we could start introducing table food at like 7 or 8 months, and by 9 months she no longer had any interest in eating anything other than the table food. She still will rarely eat anything that we try to feed her on a spoon. She is very independent!

my son actually switched over at 1 to. you can still give them the formula and baby jars of food. i still give him his jar foods from time to time. the gerber graduate entrees are good to. i give him those as well. i would say by the time she turns 2 you shouldn't have to give them the jar foods anymore. her stomach should be able to handle regular foods by then.

Deon started refusing the formula around 6 months when he tasted baby food, and once he started eating real food around 11 months he began to refuse the baby food. So he now eats whenever and whatever I do. I guess it depends on the baby! She will let you know!

DD has never had formula or baby food. She's BF and eats what we eat. I just make sure the pieces are small and always sit by her while she's eating. I make whatever we want for dinner and she gets some of that.

My daughter refused to eat baby food at about 9 months so we started her on "big girl" food. She has done great with it! As for the formula, I started wheening her at about 10 months, mixing her formula with milk. She went to straight milk about a month ago. She just turned one on the 24th. Watch her poopy diapers when she is on straight milk tho. My daughter's bowls tend to be a little more hard so I just put a little myralax in an occassion sippy cup.

Our son will be 1 on the 30th and we started whole milk mixed with formula about a month ago. Now he has transistioned and takes just the milk. He stopped eating baby food about a month ago too. He eats everything we eat I wish my 4 yr old was this easy to feed.

My baby girl will be turning one in a week, she has a milk protein allergy. Though we are not fans of pasteurized dead white liquid anyway, so I am not concerned about waiting for her to drink milk. She is still breastfed and gets her vitamins that way but eats everything we eat as well. Which is great because we have a healthy family diet - healthy grains and lots of fruits and veggies!

anyone else have babes with milk protein allergies? i am finding it harder to switch my daughter to cows milk becuase of it. doc said she should outgrow it by a year and she seems to be tolerating dairy products (like macn cheese, etc) we have not done any straight dairy such as yogurt or regular cheese. my son was EASY to switch, 2 weeks after he turned 1 he was on a sippy totally and cows milk. my daughter can drink from a sippy but has such a small mouth she will refuse. i am pushing it more and more at mealtimes but am worried about taking the morning or bedtime one. isnt having babies fun?! i am amazed at how different my kids are when it comes to stuff like this.

side note: to the mom who said she was giving her child cows milk with honey, i thought we were suppose to wait as long as possible with honey for risk of botulism?!

My son turned one last week and the pediatrician told us to let go of the formula and bottles. So as soon as I run out of my current supply of formula I will be switching to whole milk in a sippy.. My son hasn't eaten baby food in months. Hope this helps.

Hi, my daughter has been eating whatever we eat (providing it's a healthy meal) for a few weeks now as she started refusing her baby food, she eats really well she does has 12 teeth so this does help. She is one on the 26th so as soon as this formula runs out that will be it and then on to cows milk.

[deleted account]

Audrey is 1 week from turning 1 year old. She's been off of formula for about a month now. She's completely on cow's milk. As far as baby foods, she's been off of that for months now. She has 7 teeth now and has had them for a month or 2. She refuses all baby food and has been for a couple months now. She eats what we eat. She still will eat oatmeal or rice cereal with fruit, but that's about it. She doesn't even like the graduates meals. She knows the difference between those and mommy and daddy's food. She likes the kid cuzine meals. She is very healthy. She's been to the doctor and is in/around the 50th percentile of babies her age. She's just a picky eater and wants all of my food.

my daughter who turns 1 in a week, will probably be off babyfood within the next month (she usually refuses it, she likes to feed herself). Im not putting her on milk until she's at least 2. Im not a believer in milk for children, because they are baby humans not baby cows.. im probably going to raise her on soy until she would like to make the switch on her own.

He's been eating solid food now for a few months. He got tired of the baby food and wouldn't take it any longer. We just started the process of weaning from the boob, and I'm trying to get him on whole milk. (He's not very hip on drinking from a sippy cup, but he's getting it slowly)

Abby made all the decisions for us...she started projectile vomiting at night after drinking formula. Once we changed over to milk, it stopped. She also refused baby food and bugged the heck out of me for my meals. So far, no ill effects and her favorite food is spaghetti which we gave her on her birthday.. LOL.

We've been off formula for about a week now. My daughter is doing fine on whole milk. She also really just eats whatever we're eating. Within reason. She really enjoys a wide variety of food and will try/eat just about anything (as long as she sees me eat it first) LOL.

My son turned 1 on the 15th, and I bought some Enfagrow Next Step, but my son's pediatrician says that whole milk is just fine, and much less expensive. He just finished his formula this past week, and I'll finish the Enfagrow I bought, but after that I'll transition him completely to whole milk.

As for the baby food, I was planning on continuing to feed him baby food until he got his teeth (he's a late bloomer with his teeth) but he started rejecting his baby food and wants ONLY table food rather than letting me supplement his table food with baby food, so I guess we're ditching the baby food now. I hope this helps!

My Daughter turned one on the 16th also and she is already off the bottle and has been for about 2 weeks, after a year it becomes a comfort thing and you can feed your baby whole milk so there is not need. She is off the stage 3 completely and eats some graduates but you can just get ravioli's from the can( we take most the sauce off and cut them down) hot dogs (without the skin and cut up) noodles etc...

Since we got so much baby food from WIC, I now give him some to supplement whatever we eat. As far as milk goes, when we ran out of formula a couple of weeks ago, I switched him to milk and yesterday he got his own sippy cup.

At 6 months when we tried to feed our baby "baby food" he hated it. I think its the texture that he hated. So we started giving him what we ate at 6 months. We eat a variety of foods, meats, vegetables, curry, chili all that stuff and he loves it. We just make sure that the vegetables are cooked well and the food is not spicy hot, but is seasoned with good flavour.

I let my daughter tell me when she was ready to get off of her baby foods. When she started to refuse them at 10 months, then I started to give her soft table foods. She is going to be one this saterday, and I have her eating Gerber toddler meals, and I am also introducing things like spagehttie-o's to and raviolies to her. She LOVES bannanas too!! I buy fruit cups for her for her dessert, they are the PERFECT serving size for her, and they are already cut up for her!! :) I worried too about when I should get rid of formula. My pediatrician said when she turned 11 months, I should start giving her a few ounces of milk mixed with her formula, and reduce the amount of formula every week. She is only one week away from her 1st birthday, and today she is COMPLETLY switched over to regular milk!! I mean, litterally, TODAY!!! :P It is going to be sad to get rid of the last lil bit of her formula, but it just means that she is a BIG girl now!! :) Besides, you will be soo suprised how much milk you can buy for the same price as a $20 can of formula!!! :) :) :) Just remember, dont rush it. She will tell you when she is ready to come off baby food. How many teeth she has will also play a big role in whether she is ready yet too. My daughter only has 7 teeth, so things are still a bit limited. With the milk, I would suggest starting her right now!! :)

Brayden still eats some stage 3 foods, and the rest our food. he was a breast fed baby until about 7.5 months when he wend him self. we are giong to keep him on formula since we live in guam and the milk out here doesnt expire for month, we think that would be way to many preservaties for a little tummy.

My daughter turned 1 on the 8th january... I never gave her baby food i have always gave her proper food just blended down but now she loves her dinners just cut down so she can do it her self... She came out formula at 9 months and i put her on cows milk.. Becuase the formula milk always gave her the really bad watery poos.... Countless time we have had to cut her baby grows off it had been that bad.... But when we gave her the cows milk her poos have been normal standards poos... But you take your daugther off when you feel she is ready... ignore the health vistors she is your child and you know what is best for them... because they way i see it... What is good for us is good enough for my daugther x

Logan will turn one on Jan 22nd. He's pretty much off baby food. There are some Stage 3 jars he'll tolerate. Mostly we moved to toddler food, or feeding him what we're eating. I started the transition to whole milk last week so he'll be on milk completely by the time his birthday rolls around. He still gets 3 bottles a day though, so once we're on milk without a problem we'll start to wean onto sippy cups. The bottle before bed will be the last one to go.

My daughter has been off baby food for months. We started her on milk at 11 months. She was breastfed so never had formula. I was told that if you do not start your child onto chunkier food between 7 and 9 months, it will be a hard transistion and since I had friends with 18 month old still eating pureed foods, I made sure to introduce the chunky food as soon as Jenna would take them. Good luck.
