My daughter has been sleeping with a small pillow for a few months now also. My daughter's crib turns into a toddler day bed, and I am going to try and take the rail off and lower it around her 2nd birthday if we can wait that long, and then prob try to keep her in that a yr or two if that wks before getting her a big girl bed. I would say wait until u just can't keep them in it any longer.. I agree with the other moms you don't want a little night wander... lol :) Good Luck!

i gave my daughter her own pillow when she was 13 months and you shouldn't be to worried about them if you buy the proper infant pillows that are allergy free and have the breathable matterials. i'm leaving her in her cot for now more for a learning thing for her (to put herself to sleep). by giving by baby a pillow i found that she slapt alittle better aswell

We put our daughter in her "big girl" toddler bed when she was a little over a year old but she is a climber so we were afraid of her getting hurt with the crib. She has done so well with her toddler bed. She has not fallen out of teh bed at all which I was really afraid of at first. We were going to use her crib because it converts but it seemed kindof high off the ground so we bought a toddler bed that is only a few inches off the floor and a rail at the top. She LOVES her big girl bed. As for the pillow she has had one since she got her big girl bed but it is a really flat pillow. And as far as the whole getting up thing. We keep her door closed and the baby monitor on so she cannot get into anything that isnt baby safe or hers in the first place. The toddler bed has been really great for us but i think all kids are different so you have to do what makes you comfortable adn works for your family. Good luck!!!

Well, my son who is almost 15months old has had a pillow since he went into a crib and has never had an issue with it. I know "your not supposed to until they are whatever age", but I hate listening to the new stuff they keep coming out with! We turned out just fine and our parents did everything they say not to do now! Anyhow, I think you'll be fine giving him a pillow, as for the bed be careful cuz you might not want him waking you up yet!

I gave my daugther a pillow at about 9 months... Because she doesnt like lying flat!! She still is in her cot as she isnt stable on her feet yet... And figets alot!! But when she is able to walk stable and Knows how to get down from objects safly i will take the sides off and change it into a bed for her!! She also has a quilt as her bedroom gets quite cold durying the night!! But she is 15 months now but has these since 9 months... But you do it when you feel your child is ready x

our daughter just turned 14 months (was born on the 31st) and we got her a toddler bed a week ago....the first night she just climbed out and thought it was a new toy...but the next day she climbed in on her own and had her nap there by herself and has taken herself to bed since....(but i follow her at night and read her a story)....

and we gave her a pillow about 2 months ago becasue she was rolling her quilt up and cuddling it and sleeping it like a pillow, and would keep doing it no matter how many times i unravelled her blanket! so we gave her a baby pillow to use (its like 1/3--1/2 size normal pillow) but are considering giving her a bigger pillow soon. good luck!

Wait as long as you can! I nanny-ed twins and they were in their cribs until 2 1/2. I'm planning on keeping Victor in his crib until he crawls out on his own! I have a little pillow in there with him, but he doesn't use it much.

My little guy has a pillow that I put under his blanket. He still does well in his crib so I plan on keeping him in there as long as I can.

My little guy has a pillow now. I have been thinking about removing the side of the crib, but I don't think I am ready to wake up to him roaming the house in the middle of the night yet. I'm going to wait another 2months and give it a try.

hi, my little lady was 13months, it is not very full but she loves snuggling. From cot ot bed? I say keep them in it as long as you can. Can you remove the side? If so, this is a good money saver. I moved my second son into a big bed at the age of 2.5 yrs.

I am dealing with that right now too .. I think Kayla is ready for a bed bed not her crib but I'm not sure if its too early. She sleeps with a pillow now.
