Definitely not too early. Your baby is just a day younder than mine, Erica!

We were just given the all-clear to start our little girl on foods. She's been ready for a long time, though. It all depends on the individual child more than the "age" as every kid matures differently. We knew Jaylynn was ready actually at about 2 and a half/3mo because she was really watching us and trying to help herself to our foods.

I know with my kidlet, though, she tends to think that she's got it mastered. I was eating a ham sandwhich the other day and she grabbed it and started trying to tear off hunks of bread. I was so shocked I had to fight her in order to stop her from sticking it in her mouth and trying to gum it.

I honestlly would find a new pediatrian...sorry but thats how babies can develope allergies to food.I geuss you could do what feels right. But I would not do it at 3 months. I have a 4 month 3 week son I just started giving him sweet potatos mixed w/his rice cereal and formula. yeasterday, today then tomarrow would be the 3rd day to see if he has a allergic reaction then go on to another veggie. Once your done introducing all the veggies then start introducing the fruits one fruit for three days then another fruit and so on.....the same way you did the veggies to see if he has any reaction. once he's done you can mix the veggies and fruits through out the day for different meals.. I know it can get so confussing feeding babies. It took me my 2nd child to fully get it. I hope this helps :)

Well i was told by the pediatrican to start 2 tsp. rice cereal mixed w/formula or breast milk at 4months. When they turn 5 months is when its safe to introduce a veggie then wait three days to see if they have a reaction then to all the veggies the same way when ur done and ur child hadno reation introduce fruit the same way one at a time. then mix them through out the day breakfest lunch dinner. Juice is okay to.

My daughter's pediatritian said that at 4 months I could start giving her cereal. Then at 5 months I could start giving her stage 1 baby foods. She said no juice or water until 6 months because it's just filler and your baby won't want to nurse or take their bottle if you give them juice or water because they'll be full. She also said not to start on the meats until 6 months because they're harder to digest. When you do start a new food you want to feed your baby ONLY that food for 3 or 4 days to see if there's a reaction to it. If not then you can keep feeding that food to your baby or move onto a new one. Then after there's several foods that your baby has eaten and hasn't had a reaction to you can try mixing foods together like banana mixed in with the cereal or something like that so your baby gets used to combination foods before you move onto stage 2 foods that are mostly combination foods.

My baby was 4 months on the 28th as well. He is a big boy 17.6 pounds already. We started cereal and he is eatting about 1 tablespoon mixed with about 2 tablespoons of formula in the morning. Next week I will start two meals a day. Enjoy your lil one!

It is crazy how things change. That is why I just try to research as much as possible and trust my insticts and follow my babies cues. I do everything on my own research and my insticts, but I do like to hear other's reccomendations, but ultimately I follow what feels right to me. I do everything my own way immunizations, putting to sleep, feeding and I am happy. When you try to follow what everyone around you tells you is right it can be discouraging when it doesn't work for you. Breast feeding didn't work for me but I pump and my baby still gets the breast milk so we are both happy after coming to terms with that I decided my own way was much less stressful than doing what everyone else says is right.

It changes so much all the time. Marcus goes for his next immunizations in a week or so. Ill talk to the public health nurse about it then maybe i will start Marcus a little sooner.
It really is crazy how much it changes in only a year.

Actually more recent studies suggest there is no evidence that the introduction of foods at earlier ages have anything to do with food allegies. I have started my son who is 4 1/2 months old I do wait 4-5 days between foods. I started with a couple teaspoons of rice cereal then oatmeal and now we are starting foods.

I've gone to a baby food corse type thing and they say new research has shown that you dont have to go through all the fruits then all the veggies and so on.  Its ok to mix it up as long as you wait the three days in between new foods.  So you can a cereal and then 3 days later try a friuit then in another 3 days try a veggie.  But they did say to start out with a rice cereal.  They also said starting a baby on solids before 6 months could harm there digestive systems.  But i guess its a personal choice on when to start them on solids.  My oldest is doing great and i didnt start solids untill 6 months and i plan on doing the same for Marcus.

Yes that is too early. You should wait until your baby is six months. Starting sooner can damage their digestive system.

I have been giving water since birth as my son is on a iron suppliment and well everyone knows what extra iron can do LOL .... anyways my son is 15lbs 2oz and I will feed him before my husband and I eat dinner and once he sees us eating he starts freaking and putting his hands in his mouth and even grabs at our plates. My Doctor told me thats a good indication they are ready to start foods. Also as long as they can hold there own head up for choking purposes. I started my son about a week before he turned 4 months. He is now also on beginner baby food.

The earlier you give your baby solids the higher risk they are for food allergies. I am reading this awesome book called the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by the La Leche League. It's not just about Breastfeeding it's about everything including the introduction of solids. They say you should wait until your baby has some teeth because it is a sign that he/she is ready for solids. Besides Mom's milk is the best source of nutrition.

Juice should'nt be a prob. if u give in moderation and cleanse the babies gums every day with floride free baby cleanser same with toddlers. I could see it being bad if you don't clean they'er gum & teeth. I geuss thats up to you every one has they're own likes and dislikes

Wow....ur baby has exactly same DOB like mine:)! Born on Jan 28th :) well i have started giving her Gerber Apple abd banana....not like a full feed but just for her taste buds to enjoy new falvour :) I guess every baby has a different time for solid foods. Check with ur prediatrition and then try a little to see how the baby responds :) Have fun!

You can start giving your baby pured fruit and vegies and farex baby rice from 4 months onwards......I also got told by punket that it is ok to mix pured vege and pured meat together from 6 months onwards...also Juice is no good because of all the sugar in it. It can cause problems with gums and teeth.

No. You can start cereal (rice or oatmeal) & orange & yellow veggies. Also you can start giving juice & water. :)
