I am relatively new to fb Circle of Moms. I joined severaly communites that could be applicable to my life, and was happy to discover this community. My only disappointment and surprise is that the last conversation posted is dated November 2009.

We have three teenagers; we do belong to a synagogue but we live in a non-Jewish community. I teach in a Hebrew School and am also a private tutor (Hebrew/sanctuary skills/b'nai mitzvah prep) for adults and children, and am currently concentrating on expanding my tutoring service.

Living in a non-Jewish community adds to the challenges of bringing up children Jewish. I am hopeful that this page becomes active again. ..and a belated yasher koach to Eliza for taking over when Sheyna needed to step down (and a belated sorry for your loss to Sheyna.)

Kol tuv,

Sherree

Nice to meet you as well. I don't know why she didn't respond. I was happy to help her. Oh well. Have a great Shabbos!

Sorry to hear that she didn't respond.. ..not exactly sure what "being in someone's circle" means, how the circle keeps in touch..
and it is only recently that my email is letting me know about activity, which is good! it seems that searching is involved to see what is going on :-)

I had joined several circles, and I should "visit" the other too, This one is prob the closest to my heart.

..today I took some time to go through past conversations.

Nice to be in touch with you Dvora!

I'm glad to see people are posting! I haven't been around much either. Maybe I'll come back now more often. Glad to "meet" everyone.

Dear Dena, Thank you for sharing so much about yourself and your children! I too wish that I were in your community, and wish that I could be part of the wonderful process of feeding your son's desire to raise his Hebrew and sanctuary skills. I am not on the Cirlce Page very often, but I am very glad that I checked in so that I could see your message!
I like your profile pic :-) I recognize the picture ♥

I understand Sheree and wish I could be more active. Part of my problem... is time. I am a Jewish single mom of two boys one with high functioning autism, special education teacher, masters candidate in special education, and active advocate for both my boys at our Synagogue, school, with family members, etc.
I wish you were in my community. My oldest son (with autsim and extremely bright) goes to a wonderful Religious School program that encourages his love of Judaism but does not feed his desire to know Hebrew and sanctuary skills better). The program is for children with autism and I am glad we have it because our Synagogues Religious School would not accept him and he had a hard time there (he was the only boy in his class) but he strongly desires to read the Seder during services. Last Passover, he went up and set with the Rabbi and his wife. They helped him as he said the prayers it was so beautiful.
I was raised secular so I am not able to help him. I have lost a lot of the Hebrew I learned before he was born because I have not kept up. I would love to but time is not on my side right now.
Thank you for listening and I hope the site will become more active soon too.

Hi Selena,

Thank you for feeling comfortable enough to share such personal information about youself. I can understand your expressing the feeling of intimidation, however, I hope that it is minimal. Mazel tov on your Bet Din and mikvah experience (in other words "welcome to the fold" :-) It is wonderful to have you :-)
It would be wonderful to continue the dialogue that you have started on this page. If you have the interest or inclination, you may feel free to "friend" me on fb.
Shabbat Shalom!

I participated whenever I saw an interesting topic but most topics seemed to be on going where over time people added their "2 cents".

To be completely truthful, I find it a little intimidating at times (to make posts). I'm still new at being Jewish (2 years since my mikvah& beit din!) and didn't want to say the wrong thing or seem completely uneducated.

My husband is Israeli and Sephardic (his parents are originally from Morrocco) and I find it confusing at times because there are different customs and ways of celebrating different holidays in North America than the way they're celebrate in Israel. Also, I find that I'm nagging my husband to be more observant because he sometimes feels that it isn't that important when we're not in Israel. Would be great to get some more information from Jewish people (especially other Mums!) that are living all over- in observant communities and non-Jewish communities.

I would love to see how other Jewish Mothers are dealing with Motherhood and all the craziness that comes with it!

Hi Selena, thank you for the response. When this page was active, did you "participate" often? Did you find that you met a lot of people? Happy Yom Haatzmaut!
