I have 2 girls and the oldest one (2yrs, 9 months) was putting one of the baby's diapers on her Handy Manny dolls the other day. She keeps calling him a her. Any advice on how to explain to her that Handy Manny and Daddy have different parts than Mommy, Baby Sister and Her? My husband seems to have decided that since we have girls, this is a topic for me, and me alone to cover. He doesn't want anything to do with it.

I let my son open the doors to the conversation on body parts. He sees me when I am changing and when i am in the shower. While I am dressing he asks me if that is my pee pee and tell him: Yes baby, this is mommas pee. Then i tell him that mommas pee pee is different than his pee. He agrees with me. The I bring up that he is a boy with a boy pee pee and momma is a girl with a girl pee pee.Hes becoming curious of what body parts are like he'll point out body parts on me and I'll tell him what they're called. Then I tell him that mommy is a girl and boys don't have whatever the body part is because boys are different than girls.

lol men always leave things like this upto us women anyway! my little boy is at that age too where he is confused as to what the difference is between girls and boys. i just taught him as i mean to go on. daddy's and boys have willy's and mummy's and little girls have flowers or whatever the word you use to refer to lady parts is. he is now grasping the fact that when i eat all my meals, mummy's a good girl, not a boy what he picked up from me saying to him and if he eats all his meals, he is a good boy. not an easy subject but they all get it in the end :D
