I'm curious to know what time most of the toddlers wake up and if you've had luck at getting them to sleep later. My daughter used to fall back asleep until 6:00-ish, but now she is up at 4:30 or 5:00 asking to eat and play. Her naps and bedtime haven't changed, so what's the deal? A growth spurt? Love to hear people's experiences with trying to get their kiddos to sleep later....

When my daughter wakes up anytime before 6, I absolutely do not go into her room. That just encourages the habit (unless, of course, there really is something wrong). Leave them alone, and they should fall back asleep. Also, kids this age really should be going to sleep by 8:30 or so at the latest. Generally kids who go to bed later will wake up earlier.

My 18 month old goes to bed by 8pm but often wakes up screaming anytime between midnight and 3am. No amount of cuddling will help, she only wants to sleep in my bed. I swore I wouldn't do that with my second baby since my first slept with us too much as a baby. But here we go again...in the end I just want the screaming to stop and the sweet slumber to resume! Alas.

my son use to be the best sleeper. he would go to bed at 8 and wakt up at 8, and then have a 2 hour nap around 11ish. but i just changed his crib over to a bed over 2 months ago and things have changed so much sence then. he now goes to bed between 8 and 9 pm and now i have to be in the room to watch him sleep. and he wakes up at 6:30am and wakes up at least once a night around 4am. and then i am lucky if he takes his nap in the afternoon.......i miss the sleep we use to have. im starting the chair thing to get him to sleep- where you slowly move the chair closer to the door everynight til your out of the room and he will saty in bed by himself...... but if anyone has any other ideas i would love to hear them. i want my sleep back- its like night of the living dead on my side. and then hes cranky cause hes so tired through the day. please let me know if and how to change it back lol

My little guy's sleep habits are changing too. He used to always be in bed at 8, wake up around 7-7:30 and have a 2 hr. afternoon nap. The last few weeks he's been skipping the nap on occasion (we still have a bit of quiet time even if he doesn't sleep), going to bed around 9 and waking around 6-6:30. I'm not sure if it's a growth spurt or if he's just getting older and doesn't need as much rest. I'm hoping it's just a phase...guess we'll find out!

Ava goes to bed around 7:30-8:30 and usually wakes up by 7:00. She takes one nap a day around 1:30 and can sleep anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 1/2 hours. She used to go to bed around 6:30 and wake up at 5;30 so the extra time in the morning for me is great! i just wish she would sleep a little later on the weekends!!!!

my 18 month old usually goes to bed anywhere from 8-10pm and can wake up anywhere from 1-3 times a night starting around 2:30 am..... i would love if he slept straight thru even until 5am..lol.... when it gets to much to handle i just either sleep in his bed with him for a bit or take him to the spare room and sleep in a big bed there with him .... i'm also looking for ideas on how to get him to sleep thru the night

My daughter wakes up between 7 and 8 am. She takes a two hour nap in the afternoon and is in bed around 8 pm. Does she cry when she wakes up? Occasionally, mine will wake up but I just pull her in bed with me and she is content to lay beside me then we both drift off back to sleep.

My daughter is only having a single nap during the day now, sometimes only a short one (40 mins to an hour) and going to bed about 7.30pm and up about 6-6.30 every day. I think once they get to 18months they normally drop down to one daytime nap, because they just dont need as much sleep... how much is she getting during the day?
