Anybody else still struggling to lose the baby weight?

It's been 9 months already and I still look like I am about 4-5 months pregnant. I have 8 lbs to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight (and 25 lbs to my pre-pre-pregnancy weight).

I am 33 and it is very frustrating because it is taking sooooooooooooooo long.

Tips? Words of encouragement?

Best advice I can give to anyone who's looking to lose weight is to not get caught up in all the hype surrounding weight loss diets and miracle work-out programs. More often than not, they don't work (and this isn't just past experience - I'm a Kinesiologist and deal with this on a regular basis).

Try to get at least 30min cardio exercise in every day - it doesn't have to be running or working out in a gym either. Brisk walking, gardening, swimming, etc are all effective cardio programs. Secondly, drink lots of water. When you're properly hydrated, your body will naturally increase your metabolism, letting you burn off those calories faster and more efficiently. And last, and probably hardest of all, try to reduce your stress levels. Set aside YOU-time where someone else can watch your child and you can do something that YOU enjoy - not something that you HAVE to do. When your body is in a stressful state, it tends to go into "starvation mode". It packs the calories and fat away in storage - just the opposite of what you're trying to do.

It sounds to me like you ladies are all doing great. 8 pounds is next to nothing!!! (even though I'm sure you're just as frustrated as the rest of us who have.. oh say, 30 lbs more to lose before we're happy.. hehe). Keep a positive outlook and keep your goal in mind. :-)

I know the feeling, this is my first one, my lil one will be 9 mo here in a couple of days, i lost all the baby weight after she was born, I was done to my normal weight 2 weeks after she was born. Now I have gained it back. It is hard when you work 40+ hours a week and by the time I get home I am tired and just want to rest. Anyone have any suggestions? I know summer sometime up here in the Upper Peninsula (Michigan)

These past 2 weeks were much better for my weight loss. I cut down the carbs considerably - on the first week I didn't eat carbs at all for days and I lost 3.6 pounds in 2 weeks. Very encouraging!

I am able to fit my favorite jeans now. :) (not the best fit, but I can wear it)

Four more to get to my pre-pregnancy weight, but a lot more until I get to my "right" weight. Slowly, but surely.

I know the feeling! I have a few more pounds I want to lose too...I'm finding taking daily walks to the park with my son is helping, and then after we're done on the swings, walking for half an hour or so at a good, steady pace, is helping. It's a slow road, but it's working. Oh, and I'm eating healthy as well - with the.occasional treat : ) I don't think there's any secret solution, unfortunately...just exercise and eating well. 8 lbs. though...that's not too bad! You'll be in a bikini in time for the summer!

I have started the 30 Day Shred and I love it! I am also not a fan of hyped up diets and workout routines, but this one makes sense. I feel stronger already and its been only 4 days. I am not planning on losing all this crazy weight overnight, but this has really jumpstarted me. I have been eating better and have more energy! I recommend it to all of you!

I have been equally frustrated with the amount of weight I haven't lost. I want to be healthy and in shape, but beauty is definitely redefined after becoming a Mommy. I found this awesome and encouraging website:

Ugh....baby weight. I gained around 90 pounds during my pregnancy (due to a condition that I was lucky enough to acquire called polyhydraminos) and have lost about 50 pounds. I still have between 30-40 to go and I feel like I am at a stand still. I walk most days, and use my spinning bike when I have a quiet minute but it is super hard. I have recently cut out carbs and sugar and dropped 10lbs very quickly but that to has slowed. Hang in there, I totally feel your pain. I have a trip to Vegas in July that I am trying to use as my goal.....
When you have an almost 10 month child running around consuming your every minute it is hard. You'll get there, as will I!!! :)

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am still doing the same, slowly but surely. As it was said before, it is better to loose it slow.

Yesterday I read a very good work out plan. I think I will try it. It might work for some of you as well:

OMG! I know how you feel. I am trying to lose the last 20 pounds I gained with my baby girl. I am soo impatient. PLus I have 40 pounds to lose since getting married. So you are well ahead of the game if you only have 33 pounds to lose. My advice to you is to train for a half marathon, there is a program that I am starting that is great. I used to run track in school and it's been years since I have ran. So I am starting all over again. Having something to look forward to besides just losing the weight makes you more motivated to do the work! I am also on a low fat/low calorie diet and I walk 2x a day with my baby in the stroller in addition to the work out. Stay motitivated, no matter what you decide to do to lose the weight, just know that you are on your way, and there are other moms that feel the way you feel. Please feel free to comment back, I would love to hear what you think!

My son is 9 3/4 months old and I have lost all of my baby weight, but still look like I could be 2-3 months pregnant. (I teach science) My young students ask me from time to time if I am "going to have another baby." Just a gentle kick to my self image. I had a C-section, and I seriously am ticked that there is a "mini-muffin" around my waist. You would think that skin would stretch back. Any suggestions? What is the 30 Day Shread?

I know how you feel! I have much more than 8 pounds to lose, and my daughter is 9.5 months old. Now that the weather has been a little nicer, I've been able to take some long walks outside. The weight is just coming off so slow! I guess because I'm not 20 years old anymore :)

I think it's best to have something to work towards..a reason to lose it. Plan a vacation or event that you really want to look great for. That worked for me!

I plan on having another child, but I hear that if you don't lose the weight in between it is even harder to lose it after the second one...

Hey, Corinne, good luck with your 30 Day Shred. Let me know how it went.

It is really tough but don't be too hard on yourself. Eight pounds to go isn't that bad. It is especially tough to lose it when all of your time goes into taking care of the little one. My little guy is almost 10 months & my body is still a work in progress. I try to remind myself what a miracle it is to have a child & that helps me get thru when I am feeling down about the way my body looks.

I feel your pain! I am planning on having more kids, but I will not remain fat in between! I have 20 pounds to go to get to pre-preg weight. I just ordered the 30 Day Shred, everyone swears by it. We'll see!

hey you only have 8 more pounds to go :) good for you !!!!! I have found that when I go for a walk if I pull my tummy muscles in it is helping to flatten my tummy back out ;) I have gotten to my pre weight by taking a lot of walks and just trying to eat healthy. I know not easy to do all the time. But I also have to lose more weight :( but it's a work in progress ;) as everything in life has to be :) Hope you reach your goals :) it sounds like you aren't doing too bad :) think of it this way if you lose it too fast it has more of a tendency to come back. losing weight slowly helps keep it off in the end ;)
