Ok. My baby girl is now 15 months old. Just about every time she goes poop her lil face turns blood red, she cries, & stiffins out. When I change her sometimes there is blood. She stays constipated (she only poops about 2/3 times a week) and I have talked to the doctor about it and they just will not tell me anything(she has been like this sence she was about 3/4 months). They dont know what it is like to sit here and not really be able to do anything for her. I know it hurts her.

I just found my biological mother July,09 & found out that her mom died of colon cancer at the age of 38. Is there anything that might be out there to help her and should I have her poop tested to be on the safe side??

My daughter has been on miralax since we adopted her in March at 8-1/2 months old. Every time I try and ease her off of it she gets constipated again.
Her doctor prescribed it for her but you can buy it over the counter. It has a bright pink lid. It works miracles for her. I give her 1/2 T. daily in her milk.

No bananas they can clog a kid up. Also is she eating lots of fruits and vegis? I would try fresh pressed carrot juice. Getting her off of food that contain wheat should help a lot! I would not give her Juice unless it is not from concentrate and 100%. I would also get her on a good probiotic and a good childrens fish oil. They have lemon flavor. I promise you, no wheat, probiotic and fish oil will have her cured in two weeks or less!! Good luck

Oh my goodness dear!!!!! My daughter never had bleeding, but she had horrible constipation problems for a while!! My pediatrician said to do this and it worked wonderful, and is completely gentle and safe!! You put 8 oz. of water in a bottle and mix one capful of miralax in the 8oz. bottle. Then keep this bottle in you refrigerator and everyday give your baby 1 oz of this bottle in her juice or milk or anything, you can mix it with anything, as it dissolves in the water and is taseteless!! I hope this works, and I would look into a new pediatrician. This works wonders. It takes 2-3 days to work but then if you give it everyday, she will stay regular!! Let me know how it goes. Good luck! MaYBE give her a baby suppository until this can take affect!!! For comfort. You can get this MIralax Powder over the counter. You do need a prescription and the pharmacist may even tell you the dose if you are nervous about doing it!!

1) I would find a new pediatrician ASAP... if your daughter is bleeding around her rectum due to constipation and nothing is done about it, you need a new doc!
2) try giving her about 6 ounces of pear juice a day... worked wonders for my son's constipation!! If that doesn't do the trick, ask your pediatrician about prescribing a special laxative powder you can disolve in milk or juice (your lil girl's doc probably should have prescribed something already, like the 1st time you mentioned the bleeding!). Hope this helps!!

Pear Juice is what I swore by for my middle child. He had to be put on Soy formula and it bound him up so badly I had to try suppositories, but didn't want to do that so I tried pear juice and no more issues!!!!

FIBER! Your poor little girl needs fiber in her diet! She has a big problem and drinking some prune juice WILL NOT make it go away. Here is a list of high fiber foods that you need to keep in her diet daily, I have the same problem now and I constantly have to eat high fiber foods, as soon as I skip a day the intense constipation comes right back. It might have to be her diet permantly! You know those Activia Fiber yogurts, your daughter will love them and they will make it all go away! Just make sure you get the fiber version. Have her eat one every 24 hours. They are just her size. The regular kind wont do much. It sounds pretty bad so you might want to stick strictly to only foods listed below. Let me know if it helps!!

Sometimes irregular bowels to one person is regular to another, but if she is having a problem with pooping talk to her dr. about using Mineral oil. Also it's good to keep fruit and fiber in the diet early morning that helps for good digestion during the day

No rice for a start, i hope you know already. no apples or lemons or lemon juice, check out foods that can tighten the feces and avoid them, prefer yoghurts, plums, semolino, cereal, yoghurt is a big helper most of the times, did you try?

my son suffered frm chronic constipation frm the age of 9 mths. nothing that the gp could give him worked so he was sent to see a specailist. the gave him movical which worked really well. as he has got older(hes 3 and a half now) it just sent him the other way and he has had to learn to cope with it but he does still struggle and the only way he can go to the toilet properly is if i make him sit in the potty for a while. he doesnt like it and he cries when he does poo but its the only way we can do it as laxatives just give him the runs and when ur trying to potty train them that is the last thing either of you need

You can try giving her her raisins. I give my 16 month old raisins when he hasnt pooped and that usually helps. If that doesn't help then you can try giving her a little bit of olive oil like a tea spoon. That will help clear out anything that might be bothering her stomach or if she's constipated. I was skeptic about the olive oil when my mom suggested it but it helped out a lot and it didn't hurt my son at all. I hope this helps.

I found that whole grains, and PEARS work really well. Prunes and pears are actually equivalant for fibre (at least in the baby food it is).

My daughter had the same problem. My pediatrican said to cut down on dairy (which was hard because she LOVES dairy products) and make sure she's getting a lot of fiber. Most of the Kashi cereals have a lot of fiber (my daughter loves to snack on it), whole wheat crackers help too. But the best thing was using Benefiber. It's a powder that I put in her water that has no taste at all. 1 teaspoon in her sippy cup about twice a day has worked WONDERS!

try to modify her diet........give her prunes every now and again until her tummy is softer and more regular (maybe everyday until then)....increase her fluid intake (water and juice especially apple and orange juice). Avoid products containing flour eg bread. Yoghurt works wonders.......and kids love the taste.....if all else fails ask your pharmacist for a paediatric Glycerin suppository. But dont use laxatives unecessarily esp in kids.

Have u changed her formula....cause a change in formula(if she is still on formula) can cause constipation

I have to give Ava Miralax every so often and it really does the trick.. It's a powder you mix in and Ava doesn't even notice she is drinking it!

try boiling dried prunes in water until soft and then pureeing and feeding them to her or adding them to her food. The sugar in the dried fruit adds to the effectiveness of the prunes themselves. Limit her intake of foods like toast, rice & pasta and bananas that make the stools harder to pass. I give my daughter pear, kiwifruit, or prunes if she starts to get a little constipated. Also make sure she is drinking lots of water and eating lots of fruit.

Miralax works wonders for my daughter. If I go one day without giving it to her she is constipated again. Our doctor prescribed it but you can get it over the counter. It is in a white bottle with a bright pink lid. It's a powder that you mix in with their drink.

There aqre a lot of foods that you can feed her to help loosen her stool. This will help her go more often and it should be less painful as well. Make sure she is drinking at least 10 oz of juice a day and when she is not drinking juice she should have a sippy of water nearby. Prunes are great and so are apples and apple juice. Stay away from foods that bind like bananas and rice. Hope this helps

My daughter has the same problem. I have tried so many different things and a few do help. A teaspoon of Dark Karo Syrup in her morning and night cups/bottles, and manderien Oranges from a can every morning, really help my daughter alot. But my daughter also had some bleeding and the doctors gave me Miralax to give her once a day which really helped and is none addictive or habbit forming. I started her on that and it cleaned her all out. And now when I think she is getting constipated the manderian oranges are all she needs. But I would really talk to your doctor about getting her on Miralax....because the constipation can lead to "spurs" which are tears internally that can get infected and really cause pain. But your not the only one who has this problem, we have been working on it for about a year.
