My son has been somewhat potty trained since he was 2 1/2. I say somewhat because for some reason he refuses to poop in the toilet, he much rather squat and go in his underwear. No matter what I do he will not go in the toilet for this. He has no problem going pee in the toilet, it's just pooping. I am getting rather annoyed and frustrated because he goes at least once or twice a day in his underwear. I am wanting to send him to preschool but can't unless he is fully potty trained. IDEAS?

2 of my 3 boys have done this (my third is just now starting to potty train). Nothing would work for either of them. I tried giving them candy, stickers, praise - nothing. Finally, just one day, they both did it and have been doing it ever since. Although, my nearly 4 year old still has to wear a diaper to bed, but that's a whole different story. Sorry, not real encouraging I guess...:) Good luck!

We had the same problem, our son would pee in the potty, but did not like to go poop in the potty. My mom offered to give him a quarter for every poop that he did in the potty. And he was using the potty to poop in no time... and of course had to collect on every single quarter! Even when Nana wasn't there, we had to call her up to let her know.

HAHA my boy had that same problem. He was also pee pee potty trained young but didn't go poo poo in the toilet until the summer. Soo for him it was just giving up on the power struggle for a few weeks and trying agian with a fresh attitude. Also I let him have the tinkerbell step stool if it made him happy. He was also taking fiber gummies (1 twice a day) for his constipation issues(Prescribed by the doctor). So that made it more comfortable. I explained poo ppoo is normal and healthy to expell and since he clearly knew when he had to go, when I stayed home and rushed him to the toilet eveyytime he had go that helped too.
