my son is 18 months as well and he loves to play outside like most other children this age but when we re stuck inside we do activities together, such as reading books or puzzles. He loves the farm animal puzzles, which has also helped him learn his animals and sounds! His favorite toys right now are the "little people" by fisherprice, they have a sorts of different buildings from barns to play houses, this keeps him entertained for hours until he starts throwing the people all over the place! Hope this helps!

When its nice outside we try to get outdoors at least once or twice a day...just walking around is entertainment! Or even having the windows open so she can hear outside and point to birds/dogs/cars. She as well as other kids LOVES the books that have textures or noises..I read the same books 25times a day! She ALOS got a fisher price kitchen that keeps her very entertained...although she mostly throws pieces of food/utensils all over its fun for her. She likes to watch Nick JR as well...Although I am doing my best to cut back ;) She likes her new doll/stroller that she pushes around the house....for EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I also heard of designating a lower drawer just her her in your kitchen for them to keep stuff in...or u to have ok bowls/towels in that they can open/close to keep them occupied when u have to cook/clean. Since we all know they have to be our "shadow" in the kitchen!

My little guy likes builing blocks. It's mostly mommy building then him knocking them down then saying "more"! We also got him a Little Tykes Play Kitchen for Christmas which he absolutely loves along with his books! I am a (children's) book feign and luckily he enjoys books too! I try my best to not turn the tv on for him through out the day. He also love, love, loves to help me cook! I will put him up on teh kitchen counter beside me and he will grab a wooden spoon and pretend like he is making something in teh crock pot!

My son loves putting things in (and taking things out of) containers. Tupperware, pots and pans, etc. of it's not a toy. Also things that stack (cups, measuring cups, blocks), and anything with music (he loves to dance). He's only very recently--like in the last week-- started sitting still for tv (baby einstein videos). He's also getting into cars (or anything with wheels).

coloring, teaching how to throw and catch balls, running around outside, chuckie cheese, playgrounds, little einsteins... all work for me, but i know the feeling!

My 18-month old loves to play with her babies. We have her a baby stroller and she will push them around the house. She also loves the little shopping cart that is at my mother's house. She uses it as a stroller, too. :D She also loves to play on her little piano and build with her megablocks. Little People are good, too. And, books. She will spend hours reading books. To burn extra energy, take her to the park or outside and let her explore. The change of scenery is good. Also, Baby Einstein videos are good for reinforcing the things you are teaching her. I don't let Lex watch much tv, but she loves Disney and Baby Einstein and anything with music or dancing.

My daughter has started coloring this week! I found some really cool non-toxic crayons. A few of my friends even bought the easel from IKEA and their 18 month olds love it.

She also loves playing on the keyboard.

I also rotate out toys, put some away for a month, then bring them back out and she thinks they are new. She has so many she doesn't miss the other ones!

My 18month old LOVES being outdoors we go for short strolls around the block and she finds neigbours cats & dogs, and we climb stairs and pick flowers..we do this at least 12 times in the day! And going to different rooms in the house London loves going through draws and re organizing them. Being with other kids her age stimulates her and keeps her in a good mood. I think mixing it up a lot during the day helps and keeps them from boredom..but when in doubt take her for a walk and let her explore its an instant natural sedative!

My son turned 18 months on the first and we are seeing a lot of regression in him. I made the mistake of allowing the holidays to interrupt his schedule and now we are suffering for it. He no longer wants to sleep in his bed and doesn't sleep all night anymore. He is cutting 3 molars so as you can imagine dinner is a fight... he does really well with breakfast and lunch, but it seems that consists of oatmeal, waffles, nutrition shakes, lunch meat, and cheese....oh and he is a carb junkie. He is on target for his age and by no means unhealthy, but I am concerned that he is not eating ANY veggies I fix and those foods listed above are the only ones that are not thrown to the dogs.... I am hoping it's just a faze.

I like to get my 18 month old outside as often as possible. She loves to run and play out doors so she runs herself tired and it gives me good exercise...But when inside, She loves flipping through books and loves putting her large blocks together and loves her babies, lately i can't get her to stop brushing the dolls hair and mine. It can be hard to keep her entertained when she is the only child because she loves to be glued to my hips, but even Disney movies are a good babysitter when you need a moment to yourself.

Hi
you can hide some of her toys for a while and then bring them back , she will consider them as new toys,
another thing is you can try bying her books which have different textures inside my babies liked this kind of books so much ( i have a twin girls), and also the kind of books with a button when you press on it , it makes the animal sound.
Wish you good luck in entertaining your baby :)

We just bought our 18mon old daughter a kitchen set for Christmas and she LOVES IT! It keeps her so busy throughout the day, never gets old. It even wears her out so much she's back to sleeping through the night & taking a 3hr long nap a day! It was the best thing EVER!

my sons of same age and my daughter is now 3 so i know how you feel, i dont know what you already do but there are lots of things they can enjoy from joining a toddler group so they get their social fun in to playdough, painting, colouring in, paper plates can be fun colouring in or sticking-i put the glue on the my son sticks on the bits or cut up cards etc, singing n dancing for a lil bit. unfortuniatly most activities will only last an hour of which half is setting up and packing away. both my kids enjoy helping with housework like putting the old clothes into a pile for me so i can put them in the laundary or loading the washing machine. Summer parks, garden and seafront will be more accessable, theres tons of ideas on cbeebies websites we use the green baloon club one for ideas or mister maker depending on what kind of stuff we wana do xx
