I'm planning on my Son's first birthday but am not sure if I should throw a big party where everyone can attend or a small party only for the kids. I'm just worrying about my son maybe he'll not like the idea of being infront of many people. I saw it on my Sister's son, he was crying and uncomfortable on his 1st birthday. Any suggestions?

We're throwing a big bash! It's more a party to celebrate that we have survived the first year and to thank all our friends and family for their support and help.

Im just planning on having family over....we have a pool so we will prolly just have a bbq outside....most of the kids that go to daycare with my son are all older anyway so a kids party would be kinda pointless for me to do

Since it is July, we are having a bbq and inviting everyone we know. Everyone brings something to eat/share and then it wont cost us a fortune in food either!

I would just have a semi small party for their first birthday, children will not understand the concept of a special day because they are special everyday!!!

We are having a pooh bear party at home with just immediate family.. I will make the party food for my other children and lots of streamers and bright balloons and maybe a little slice of icecream cake for the birthday girl!

Hope your little ones enjoys his day!

I'm debating the same thing with my daughter's party. Either way, just keep it short. I'm planning her party right after naptime, and it'll only be a 1-2 hour party. Just go with what you think your son can handle. My daughter is very outgoing and loves to be the center of attention, so as long as she stays that way, I might do a big party for her. It also depends on what I feel up to doing. Cleaning up after a huge party isn't very fun with a 1 year old in tow.
