I just took a psych class which talked about the ramificaitons of forcing a child into potty training before they are ready. Not sure I believe it 100% but it was interesting. Supposedly keeps them in the anal stage of development much longer. A bit wacked but interesting.
I say 15 months and you are starting potty training WHOA! I guess i am way behind. I htink give her time before a bath sounds like a good plan. I don't know that I want my kid sitting on a potty in the living room?! Before bath sounds good.

I agree with Cindy, She's only 15 months. I worked for a day care for about a year. Most of the 3 year olds are NOT potty trained. The average age is between 2 and 3. MY boys were trained by 2 1/2. She will get it when she is ready. Slow and consistent is the key. You wouldn't go from formula straight to a T-bone Steak, with a side of potatoes.!!!

Quoting Cindy:
STOP !!!! Your baby is only 15 months old. STOP. Leave the potty in the bathroom. Let her be curious. DON'T make her touch it. 30 days.
After a month of no pressure. Now...
when you get her naked for a bath, put her on the potty and count to 10. Then take her off and give her a bath. That's it.
DO NOT BRING THE POTTY OUT OF THE BATHROOM. That is BAD.
You will find one day she will just go to the potty. When she is 22 months take off her daipers and throw them away, give her undies and tell her to keep them dry. She'll be just fine.
My July Baby goes potty EVERYDAY before his bath. And every now and then he will crawl to the potty and sit on it while I am "going"
Just don't pressure her, she's only 15 months.
i think your reply is little pit tough but very helpful. thanks.

I use my sons potty as a seat so he can get use to it first. I started by sitting it in the living room where we sit at and that is his chair. then when we go to the bathroom I sit him on it while we sit down(LOL) but still with his close on. Then when he gets ready to take a bath while I run the water which I know will make him have to go I tell him to sit on the potty for a min. and he goes:) but you have to realize some kids are just not ready and forcing them will make it harder. If not wait until she is alteast 18mth to start. My son is 15mths. Every child is different. My daughter never wanted the potty sit, but only the Big People toliet. But be patient and when she is ready she will go. Good Luck and let me know how she does?:)

She will only potty train when she is ready and if you try to force her you will probably put her off it even more. I started potty training my eldest 2 just before they were 2 and were dry just after their second birthday. I'm not even thinking of starting my youngest until around the same time. x
