Is my baby behind?

my lil girl is 8 months she can say dad and daddy. she nods no to u and trys to clap her hands she can sit on her own but sometimes falls over lol. shes also trys to get get up but cant qite do it yet. shes always a happy baby and loves her finger foods and her breakfast lunch and dinners. she also has 1 tooth think mores coming i dont think theres anything to encourage them u just have to keep trying.

My second son is the same age also, and has no teeth, but is doing pretty much the same thing. I think you should not worry too much about what she is/isn't doing - all children develop at different rates. My older boy was already crawling at this age, but my younger son is only just creeping. Just enjoy each milestone as it comes, she will grow up quicker than you realise.

My son can also sit by himself and tries so hard to sit up from a lying position, but cant do that yet. He so wants to crawl to, but at the moment he can only go around in circles with his upper body and push himself backwards. No teeth yet, although I can see exactly where they will be coming... He is a healthy and big boy, happy and smiling most of the day. We have had some sleep issues lately, but apart from that he is very easy to take care of.

I encourage him crawling by laying him as much on his stomach as he will accept. Maybe putting some toys just a little bit out of reach for him, but I give them to him if he gets too upset about it :) I use my breastfeeding pillow to put behind him when he is sitting so that he can sit on his own, but if he fell backwards he wouldnt hurt himself...Now, he has no problem keeping his balance.

I am enjoying the time before he can crawl... easier to look after :) hihi

My son sits up from lying down (from both back and tummy), but he doesn't crawl forward yet. He can go backwards and spin in circles on his tummy, but the forward crawl just eludes him. Instead of using his knees, he gets up on his feet. It's really cute :) He is trying to climb things (me, furniture, his crib). He doesn't have teeth yet, and he doesn't really eat finger foods other than some biscuits. He loves his spoon though, and recently started crying to hold it himself and shove it in his mouth on his own. Messy!

My daughter will be 8 months on the 15th and she is right where your daughter is at. Only on tooth though. She has been able to sit alone since 5 months but she cannot crawl or get into a sitting position from laying either

I think your baby sounds right on track...like you said all babies are different but things sound just fine to me! My son is almost eight months old he has two teeth, can feed himself with fingers and spoon but it's messy haha, he feeds himself his own bottle and uses a sippy cup. He can crawl forward and backward, get up from lying down, pull himself up into standing and move around the living room holding furniture or his walker thingy. To be honest I wouldn't rush the crawling thing...I'm exhausted! If you wanted to encourage the crawling development I would say just more tummy time really, in that position they just keep workin away at their skills! But your daughter sounds like she's doing good and she's healthy so that's definitely all that matters for sure!! Best Wishes

My baby is 7.5 months now.  He crawls, but only backwards and he has no teeth yet...they are coming any day now.  He cannot sit up from a lying down position and still tips over when sitting for an extended period of time.  Each baby develops differently and at their own pace.  I learned this from my first son.  Just take it easy and try not to worry about it.  She will learn when it's her time.

I think your baby is fine, the adverage crawling age is 8mths and I am fairly sure I read somewhere that you should be worried about them not reaching milestones about 3mths after the adverage date. But I think this is more to do with them not showing signs of trying not the baby just being able to do it. Having said that though some babies just dont crawl and if your bubs is holding onto furniture she might just skip that step and go straight to walking.

My little one cant crawl yet, she is trying though. I think this may be because she has only in the last few weeks mastered rolling from her back to the front so she is still trying out her new skill.

My son is not crawling as of yet, but chooses to roll wherever he needs to go.  He sits on his own but also can't get up from lying position.  He loves standing and will take a few steps when you hold his hands.  He also started pulling himself up onto my lap up a couple weeks ago.  No teeth to speak of as of yet,  but I'm not complaining since I'm still nursing.  I also haven't  tried him with the spoon on his own but I'm sure he would be up for it, as he's always grabbing for it.   As for his communication he loves to be as loud as he can but no words as of yet.  I just can't believe that my baby will be 8 months on the 20th, where did the time go?

My daughter can sit up, but not from a lying position. She can stand with support, but she's not cruising. I haven't introduced her to finger foods, nor can she eat with a spoon. She has 2 teeth, and is starting to "crawl" backwards. Not forward yet. I'm not worried. She'll catch up & be on the move soon enough. I'm just glad she'll finally eat baby food. That has been a battle.

mine crawls, and pulls herself up on everything she can sit up from lying down, but can't feed herself with a spoon, dosn't even like a spoon coming at her at all she only likes finger foods, and has no teeth, so there are all different, yours may not crawl yet, but mine has no teeth yet

My daughter can't crawl yet either but she does try. She can stand with help and gets around great in her walker. She can feed herself with her fingers, but not a spoon ( I haven't even tried that yet!). She talks alot, but the only word she says that actually sounds like english is dada. She can sit up by herself but like your daughter she can't do it from lying down. My Mom bought her a butterfly that moves along on the ground that is supposed to encourage crawling. When it stops moving if the baby touches it, it will start to move again to get the baby to follow it. So far Ava just rolls after it, so we will see!

My baby was 8mo yesterday. She just learned to sit up from lying about a week ago. at the same time she started to crawl on her belly. Her bum also is too heavy to lift. She does stand holding on to me or coffee table, but not for very long. She also has only 2 teeth so far. I gues babies develop on their own pace. your daughter will do it when she is ready. My baby started to move forward when she saw samethig she really wanted to play with. you can put a toy out of her reach and encourage her to get to it. I hope this is going to help. And don't worry, you're not going to able to catch her ina month or two.

Sounds pretty much exactly like us! Except Eric has 4 teeth. :o) I don't have any tips for encouraging because I'm not- I figure he'll do it when he's ready...and I'm in no hurry for him to become mobile! haha! I like knowing he'll be within a couple of feet of where I put him!
