My son wants to drink nothing but milk. I have tried given him other things but he never drinks them. Sometimes he will throw his cup down and cry if it's not milk, but mostly he just sits it down and walks off. He won't ever come back and drink it. I don't know what to do, because I know too much milk isn't good. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks. I will try that. His hemoglobin levels were low when he was about a year and our Dr. told us that he had to get rid of the bottle for that reason. He had been off of it and Nana gave it back to him and then he wouldn't let go again. Anyway, switching to the cup didn't seem to help him drink less milk, but maybe I'll just water it down. Thank you again.

i have had this experience with my older daughter and more then 16 to 24 ounces a day of milk can cause low iron and if they get real low with their iron they can internly bleed without anyone knowing... so now with my 23 month old i give her 16 to 24 ounces of milk then if she wants more i giver 3 quarters water and a quarter milk she doesnt know the difference...

He won't though. He doesn't throw a fit most of the times when he doesn't get milk, he will just sit it down and never drink it. He will go all day without drinking anything if he doesn't get milk. He'll take a drink realize it's not milk, and then never take another drink.

We give Brandon milk or Pediasure at least 3 times a day, with meals.. The other times he drinks water or watered down gatorade.. He is not allowed any juice (Hi-C, Juicy Juice, Kool Aid, etc.) because it was giving him diarrhea, which is not something you want to deal with when potty training.. The doctor told us to give him water and to only give him juice if he was constipated.. If you only offer your son something to drink other than milk, he will drink it when he gets thirsty enough.. He may throw a fit first, but he will eventually try it.

My biggest concern about it is that milk causes constipation and that is an issue we already deal with. I don't think that it's bad that he drinks milk, I'm actually quite glad that he enjoys it. I just don't want it to cause problems.

My twins only drink milk as well. When it gets really hot and they are outside i will give them some water. I have checked with my Pediatrician and he is quite happy that my children don't drink any juice. He doesn't see anything wrong with drinking milk.

This isn't from experience or anything, but could you start to slowly water down the milk, weaning him to drinking mostly water? Or start adding a splash of juice to get him used to other flavors? Just something to add some variety so he'll start to accept other fluids...
