My daughter refuses naps and she is 3 but she is also very difficult to put down at night. I have tried relaxation, baths, rocking, putting her in and walking out and replacing back, also reading. I have a set bed time routine

It may be that my son is so used to it and he's such a good sleeper, but we never miss our nap. I think there have been a few times in his life, but hardly ever. I just tell him he has to. There are times that he tells me he'snot tired or he wants to play, but I just remind him if he wants to be big like Daddy he needs his sleep. If he cries I just put him down anyway! Good luck.

Does she still need a nap or just quiet time? Perhaps try doing puzzles / books downstairs or let her watch half hour of TV for some peace and quiet for both of you. Or say that she doesnt need to sleep but she has to stay in bed and she can play with favourite toy or special book. If you think she still needs the sleep maybe say it is 'rest time' and she can have special rest time in your bed? My daughter stopped having sleeps at 3 because she was ready but sometimes if we have been really busy she gets grumpy and we dont call it nap time we call it rest time and that seems to help. We tell her she doesnt need to sleep just rest in bed for half hour and she almost always falls asleep. My cousin had same problem and she puts her daughter in a travel cot because her daughter thought it was proper bedtime in her own bed and she was going to bed for the night.
