I need some help. My daughter turning 4 now, has started which sounds like night terrors. There could be a few factors that is involved in this. 1. We have just moved house (but it started in the previous place) so i can understand that she is a bit insecure.
2. My brother's cat lives with us now as well. (not used to a cat only a dog.

So here is what happened the other night: She woke up screaming at the top of her voice, crying and was in a total hissy fit and she just wanted to get out of the room. I asked her what is the matter and she pointed to the floor and said the dog jumped on her. After about 2 hours she fell asleep again. Asked her the next morning about the dog and to describe it to me and she said it was a white dog with black eyes that wanted to jump on her... freaked me out immediately! 2 night later same thing this time a cat, (black cat with white eyes) and there is monsters talking in her ear... WTF!! I am totally freaked out. I can usually feel "entities" but cant see them, and i have felt nothing.

Could this be something real or is it imagination.
Does anyone else have experience in this as i really need a good night sleep again.

My daughter sometimes wakes from bugs in her room. Our cat's were disturbing my kids....so I told her I would shut her door at night to keep the cat out. Seemed to work for the waking up aswell.

Thanks guys.. was just a bit concerned. will try all of these and get back to you. the weekend was a bit better as she slept in my room and she slept through. So we changed her whole bedroom on Sunday. Made the room a bit darker but brought the night light back. So we will see what happens tonight.

Apparently a night terror is not rememebered by the child and the parents watching suffer more then the child. My daughter suffered with them for many years and all we could do was sit and watch she never came to any harm, singing used to calm her slightly too.

Sometimes kids work themselves up so it could be nothing.my daughters have dream catchers to catch nightmares, a big teddy used to guide the door! And I saw on super nanny once she did "monster away spray" I thought that was a great idea. Hope you sleep soon :)

The fact that she remembers them in the morning and that you can console her after the dream has happened means that these are just normal nightmares. My son had night terrors for almost 3 years and when they happened there was nothing you could do to console him 95% of the time he was not even awake, I would just talk to him and reassure him mommy was there and eventually he would calm and sleep peacefully he never ever remembered it happening or what he was dreaming about. I would sit down and talk with her about the fact that she is safe and that the dog and the cat are not going to hurt her see where the fears are coming from.
