Ok, so this isn't exactly a parenting question- but I figured there would be lots of moms with experience to share...

I'm going to be hosting a book party at my house (like a Tupperware/Candlelite/Pampered Chef party but for Usborne children's books) and am looking for creative ideas of what I can do for my guests (and the presenter) to make it more fun/memorable etc. What have others done at home parties that you liked? I'm thinking of keeping the "book" theme but can certainly adapt ideas from everywhere (Tupperware, Pampered Chef, etc) It's going to be a bunch of moms in attendance so I want to make it a fun night out for them! (We know how rare they can be!)

Please share your creativity! Thanks!!!

Thanks, Shelby- I've already started planning my menu! What goes better with shopping than food?!? :~)

And Carrie- I'm thinking more and more about your swap idea and it might just work since we are selling children's books and the ladies would be bringing adult (not "that" kind of adult, ha!) books!

Thanks ladies!

I have never heard of a book party. It sounds like fun!  You could have a quiz about books and authors (maybe based on the ones being sold) and the winner wins a book. Also you could have a sharing time about people's favorites books. This would help break the ice. When I have had parties at my home, I make sure there is lots of food and wiht food you can't go wrong. Good Luck!

Thanks, Carrie...but it's a party to sell books so bringing your own to swap might defeat the purpose! :~) (But would make a great party idea for a different night! I'm going to keep that in mind!!!)

Ok, what about having each person bring one of their favourite books, and then you can do a big swap - everyone gets to read a new good book.  And something I've done before is make up nametags with famous or fabulous women on them (you can do whatever theme you like) and put a different nametag on each person's back as they arrive.  They have to go around the room, asking yes and no questions to guess "who" they are.  A good icebreaker that gets people talking to eachother...

Good luck with the party!
