My son goes to bed at 9 and sleeps through to 8am, some people think this is to late. I would like to know what other mums think. I'm sure if he went to bed early he would get up early.

I put Daniel down for bed between 8:30 and 9:30 depending on how he napped during the day. But it's mostly 9 when he falls asleep. He wakes around 7 am, and takes a nap around 10 am for about an hour and sometimes again around 4 pm but not all the time. I love this schedule and he's almost always in a good mood. If his nap gets screwed up then everything gets screwed up and Daniel becomes cranky all day. (Every child and family is different and I will listen to other peoples advise, but thats all. If it works for you and your family it don't need to be fixed. Daniel is my son no-one else's.)

my 18 months old son goes to bed at 8:30-9pm and sleeps until 6am. He also takes 2 one hour naps during a day. I'd like him to go to bed earlier so my husband and I could have our own time but changing his bed time ended up for our son to get up even earlier. It looks like he is just not much of a sleeper (he sleeps through the night, though, but some days might wake up in the middle of the night).

I put my daughter to bed around 8:30, and she sleeps all night until almost 9:00 am, and then naps once in the middle of the day. My older daughter goes to bed a little later, because they share a room, and if they both go to bed at the same time, they keep each other awake. As long as your son is getting enough sleep, I think you are doing fine!! :)

My son used to go to bed at 9pm but we moved and there was an hour time difference so we started putting him to bed at 8:30. I think it really all depends on the child. Some kids it is almost impossible to get them to go to bed before 10 and others can't last until 8. I do find that putting my son to bed at 8:30 gives me and my husband extra mommy and daddy time though.

Don't listen to what other people say. do whats best for you. It doesnt matter right now, just when it gets time for school is when it really matters. my daughter is 20 months old, I go to bed at 1am we start doing bed time routines and laying down at 12:am, she goes to bed at 11:00 pm and gets up at 10:00 am. I dont work so it's not a problem. I will start working more on an earlier schedule when she gets to be around school age. but for now my husband usually gets off work at 9pm and gets home about 9:30pm so we like to spend time together before going to sleep. so it only matters what works for you

Our little one goes to sleep around 9 and wakes around 7-7:30. I know a lot of folks suggest putting him down earlier with the idea that he will still wake around 7, but we tried this and he just started waking earlier. We even made the transition slow, in 15 minute increments, but I think our son is just one of those people who only needs so much sleep. He's cheerful all the time, so I'd rather hang out with him at night and get more sleep in the morning. It's a personal choice that works for me.

I also put my son to bed at 9 and sleeps until 545 or 6 depends on when my husband has to be to work. On the weekends He may stay up a little later and sleep until 7 or 8.

We work nights so we drop our son off at Grandmas at 9pm and he goes to bed by 10:30 and wakes up around 10. He's almost two and has always been a good sleeper (thank heaven). It's your choice Mommy, do what's right for your family =-)

Hey ladies - my wee man goes down between 7 and 7.30 and will wake anywhere between 7.30-10.30am. If he wakes any earlier than 7 we leave him and he goes back to sleep. He has between 2-3 hours (one nap) a day. A real cruiser......

My daugther is 20months are goes to bed around 9-9:30 and wakes up at 8am too. It works for us. If it works for you then thats great. Some kids need to go to bed early, others not. Don't worry to much about it. As they grow they will need more sleep and then maybe you can get him to bed earlier

Me and my husband have both worked nights for ten years. When we had our son everyone told us how much our lives would change. My husband still goes to work at 9pm so our son goes down around 10pm and wakes up around 11am. It works for us and our son is healty, happy and daddy's happy to spend the time with him! There will come a time when things will have to change but for now this works for us and that's all that counts!

He chatting away usually, so it's kind of nice just listening to him for a bit while we wake up slowly!! I say, who cares what others think! my son is almost 21 months and he goes to bed around 7-8pm and gets up around 6pm or sometimes 7 not later. When he stays at my mom he takes 2 one and half naps one in the morning two hours after he gets up and one around 2 in the afternoon. When hes with me he takes one two hour nap around 10am. I agree with some of the moms if they are over tired they wake up more and have a harder time going to sleep (i tried keeping him up later to see if he will sleep longer but it just makes him sleep worse at nite). I also agree with them saying that it is your baby and you know his routine and if he gets cranky with out a nap and what time he goes to sleep. Good luck

She also sleeps between 2-3hrs just after lunch time each day. You need to do what suites your life style, i work part time, so i like to be in bed early myself. Goodluck

Thats exactly when my girl goes to bed. I had put my oldest boy to bed at 7 pm but found out it was working because he would wake up very early in the morning so what your doing allows an hour or two of peace and quiet both at night and in the morning if your an early bird or stay up late. It works better for me to put my baby to bed at 9 pm night then I know shes tired enough to go to sleep with no problems. I have done that with my last 2 girls. Has worked well for me.

Mine is not a sleeper. We put her down at 8:45 and she's up by 6 AM most mornings. Sometimes she only takes a one hour nap during the day. This is the case whether she's got a bug or not. We've tried putting her down earlier but she wakes up earlier when we do. She no longer gets any bottles so I don't know what to do to extend her sleep!

My little girl goes to bed between 7 and 7.30pm and wakes between 6.30 and 7am. Which suits my hubbie and I and our lifestyle. She also has a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day (12 to 2) It looks like your little boy is getting 11 hours of sleep at night, so that's a good thing. But if you wanted to try and put him to bed earlier you could try putting him to bed 15 minutes earlier for 3 nights, say 8.45pm and then another 15 minutes earlier for the next 3 nights (say 8.30pm) etc etc until you found a more suitable bedtime. Putting your son to bed earlier, doesn't always mean that he'll wake earlier. You may even find that he could sleep for 12 hours - 8pm to 8am. :0)

I have both my kids in bed buy 7pm and they sleep till 7. My little girl is in bed by 6 most nights. I have read that if want your kid to get more sleep to put them to bed earlyer. They will wake the same time every day no matter what you do. My son was always an early kid he would get up a 5 some days. I thought if i put him to bed later he would sleep in wow was i wrong we tried for 3 weeks befor giving up and putting him to bed early he was more happier that way. But if it workes for you then dont change it. If you child needs sleep they will go to sleep lol.

We put our son to sleep at 7:30 sharp every night. More his choice than ours-- if he does not go down right then, he either gets very silly (and dangerous because he bumps in to everything) or very cranky. He gets up around 6 to nurse- and rarely sleeps through the night without needing to be put back to sleep at least once. He takes a 2 hour nap during the day.

I have always put my son down at 8. There are times it goes a little later like maybe 8:15 but no later. He generally get up by 7:30 or 8 am and will play in his crib talk to himself. It's nice cause I can sleep in for a bit or even just clean up while he's still in his room. But 9 isn't to late... it's whatever works for your baby and you. I know there have been a few nights where I'm out and about past 8:30 and he's a mess... crying and really fussy. But as soon as he his bed he's out:)

My husband and I want a little time to ourselves before we have to go to bed get , it helps to get things done around the house that we don't have time for while the kids are awake. Our son's are the same age and I do the same thing. to be quite honest with you, and not to sound rude or anything but, it doesn't matter what other people think about your bedtime regiment or anything else for that matter. I am a full time student, working part time at one job and running a business. We have 6 kids and number 7 on the way between us.(his, mine and ours) The little one is 18 months and goes to be around 8pm and gets up around 7 am. He takes a 2 hour nap after lunch usually. The rest of the kids are preteens and teenagers so this works so that everyone gets some time in the evenings to get homework and stuff done. Then after the older ones are in bed at 10 I can get my work done. I am up till 2 or 3 doing work and back up around 6:30 but it is quiet time to get stuff done. I could not imagine trying to be productive with the little ones up all night.

My children are in bed by 7 and sleep until about 7 am. It works great for our schedule because I'm a stay at home mom and I like to enjoy the most day light with them. Then having them in bed by 7 makes it easier for my husband and I to relax together without having to worry about the kids. You need to do what works best for you, not what other people think is best. If putting your son to bed at 9 is working then stick with it, plus changing his schedule might not be that easy on him.
