My son has never been a big eater he is pretty tiny but still healthy. I find myself getting in ruts of feeding him the same things over and over because that is what i can get him to eat. For breakfast the only thing i have found for him to eat is some fruit and maybe some cheese. He wont eat eggs or pancakes or cereal. he loves bacon but who doesnt! I try not to give that to him very often cause it is all he will eat for breakfast if i give him some. I dont know what else to try on him.

I leave a bowl of strawberries, apple slices, and grapes in the fridge and he loves when I open it because that means he can get one! It teaches him to be excited over natures fruit. I have a hard time with breakfast also. My son really likes blueberry bagels though so I've been giving those to him. Bolthouse Farms drinks are VERRYY nutritious. Full servings of fruits, vegetables, and soy protein! They are so good, but expensive. We all drink them. Bananas. Squishy, scrampled eggs.

My son eats rice and hotdog in the morning, sometimes cooked ham, and sausage also, but always with rice and his milk as drinks, but he also drink water after eating. Then at noon time he eats rice with vegetables and sometimes banana, then in the afternoon he eats Cerelac. Cerelac have different flavors so I just feed him alternately with the flavors (wheat banana & milk, Brown rice & milk, Mixed fruits & Soya). My son weights 13 kls. at 18 months.

add some baby oatmeal and extra fruit chunks to the yogurt to make it thicker and it is much easier for them to get to their mouths. my boys also love the yogurt bites. There have been mornings where they have a handful or two of those and the same of cheerios and maybe some banana. And they are good until snacktime or lunch

my boys eat yogurt every morning. They love it. sometimes they will eat some dry cereal afterwards. I also will give them frozen waffles some times. They like the blueberry ones. Try some oatmeal. my boys love to eat my oatmeal when I bother to make myself something other than coffee for breakfast. I also will make toast and spread mushy bananas or applesauce or peanutbutter on it. they love that. and hash browns. My boys will eat almost anything made from a potato.

Hi,

I find myself with the same problem, my son eats sometimes and other times he just chews the food and keeps it in his mouth. I am still feeding my son the Gerber 2nd foods Solid food he again chews it up and holds it his mouth for long periods.

He started eating scrambled eggs and cheese sometimes. All of these are good suggestions. He wont eat toast though. He really like yogurt but like most wont let me feed him at all and he isnt very good with a spoon. I have tried yogurt but he gives up cause he cant eat it with his hands

This sounds weird to some but try scrambled eggs with syrup - that's how I got my son to eat eggs. He loves them plain now but every once in a while I will add in syrup.

Just a thought here, my son eats whatever I eat, as in the actual food I am eating. Give him a spoonful of cereal from your own bowl with your own spoon - he might go for it.

my daughter loves yogart. She also likes waffles (I buy frozen ones, with fruit in them, then she just eats them plain). Did you try adding cheese to scrambled eggs? My daughter prefers that. She also likes dry cereal (Apple Jacks, Cheerio's, Honeycombs). Also, sometimes, if I'm in a hurry, I give her toast with peanut butter or Nutella (a hazelnut spread). Hope to help!

My daughter loves cinnamon pancakes with fresh fruit. She started to get bored with eggs, so I started to add things. I sometimes put shredded cheese, sliced hotdogs, or mushrooms (make sure no allergies) and lightly buttered toast.

getting my son to eat is a struggle all the time. I just try to switch it up. I bought a variety pack of kellogs cereals, as well as quaker flavoured instant oat meal. Toaster strudle, poptarts and waffles. My son loves yogurt so he usually gets the "trial" food like i mentioned above and then yogurt, He also likes pure pork sausages but that too i don't give him often.

If my dtr won't eat anything that day I fall back on yogurt ( stonyfield makes a good healthy one and they have good flavors) and I mix in wheat germ so she gets some grains. This may not be the best choice for the kids with texture issues but its worth a try. But totally stich with the fruit if thats what he likes, you cant get healthier than that.

How about all different varieties of fruits? a piece of toast? Yogurts? I just bought a recipe book from Ikea called "kids" and there are a bunch of good, and healthy, yummy different kinds of recipes in there.

Here are a few ideas: turkey bacon or turkey sausage; applesauce; yogurt; whole-wheat or multi-grain bagel or English muffin.

My son isn't very picky, though. He likes pretty much everything. Good luck!

there are a variety of cooked porridges that you can add fruit to (dried or fresh fruit), like oats. don't know if you get weetbix blocks where you are - it's my son's favourite. what about muesli. i usually hold up 2 cereal boxes for him and then he can point to the one he would like that day, which usually works well - he likes to feed himself, so i make the cereal a bit stodgy so it doesn't fall off the spoon easily. smoothies are a great way to get fruit/yoghurt in - you can even add a bit of oats to your smoothie - what also fun about them is drinking it through a straw from a fun cup. fruit salad with greek yoghurt is nice. toast with various toppings on eg fishpaste, hummus, marmite, etc. cut into blocks or shapes with a cookie cutter.

My little girl still eats some baby/toddler cereal, along with some dry cereal and a glass of milk. I want her to eat more things, but she has refused french toast and waffles.

How about some of his favorite fruit in yogurt? My daughter loves hash browns cooked in olive oil (or you can bake them). Does he eat ketchup? Some babies will eat anything if they have ketchup on them- like scrambled eggs and ketchup. You would want to talk to your pediatrician first, but if he is not eating well he may not be getting enough iron and that would make him not want to eat much! Iron supplementation made a big difference for my once finicky eater.

BTW, my daughter is like one of the other kids, she has to feed herself the oatmeal (or anything else). I can help feed her, but if she doesn't have a spoon or fork she will eat half as much or not at all.

My daughter is a total carnivore, so I can relate to the bacon. I buy Jimmy Dean turkey sausage links at Costco (that's where they are the cheapest). They are pre-cooked so they are quickly micro-wavable and they are not greasy at all. SHE LOVES THEM!!! She also loves berries, oatmeal with a bit of homemade berry jam mixed into it, and toast with the same homemade berry jam, I also make blueberry or banana pancakes, she's on and off with those.

My daughter is 18 months old and she is a peanut and a very picky eater. I found if you get the oatmeal that has flavors in it or mush up fruit and mix with regular oatmeal she liked it. I also found if I let her help me with the spoon she will eat just about anything. She wants to do it herself. You can try peanut butter toast too.

muesly? or oatmeal? tried already? you can vary the fruits and the cheses if you don't do it already. mine will not have breakfast for a long while yet.

my daughter wouldn't eat regular pancakes for awhile, but i started making banana ones and then blueberry ones and she loved those, now she will eat regular ones too. i also just found an idea to try to get them to eat eggs (rosabelle won't eat eggs either) and you cut a shape in to a piece of bread (such as a heart or circle) crack an egg into it and cook it that way. then they are getting both the egg & toast.

You are not alone. But my doc told me to feed my babe what ever he will eat, and as much as he will eat. There are days when he wants Mac and Cheese, other days he will two fist baked ham. Sunday mornings are Bacon days.
Monday to friday he eats toast. I found the trick to getting him to eat "it" is to make it easy to eat. Toast is in strips he can feed himself. Mac and Cheese - he gets a fork. Bacon/hotdogs/b-sausage/eggrolls all easy to handle ad healthy in small doses.

Dips are great motivaters. Try Ketsup, plum sauce, sour cream, jelly, or tomatoe sauce.

Put shreded cheese on eggs or perogies.

And the best advise - if you want him to eat it - you have to eat it to. Set the example.

I hear you. My son is also very picky but he will eat oatmeal so that is what I have been giving him every morning for quite sometime. He seems to enjoy it and it is good for him so I just stick with that. I have found that with my picky eater it is next to impossible to "mix things up" because there is so much he won't eat so I pretty much give him the same thing every day. As long as it is healthy and he wants to eat it I don't worry about it. a few times a week I give him something new to eat and sometimes he'll eat it, sometimes not, and then I just fall back on what I know he will eat.

Wow...you've tried most everything...Maybe try some different cereal than what you've allready offered...Dry cereal like Cherrios...maybe some Gerber Rice Cereal and Fruit in a jar...toast with a touch of butter cut up in squares...my daughter usually will each that for me.

If not fruit and cheese will do for now and just keep offering other things...my daughters tastes change every month!
