Hey Pooh seems to be a good theme but why not choose simpler ones such as jungle safari, a balloon theme party, or may be a color theme party/ These themes are good for first birthdays as your child will be able to correlate them.

for my sons first birthday we are going to do a bbq in the garden and do a pirate and princess theme as we no quite alot of boys and girls who wud be comin also be fun for the adults with the bbq etc and havin a paddlin pool for the little ones :))))

seriously! some of you guys sound so prepared and ready for 1st birthdays! i keep checking to make sure im in the right community - july 2009! :] we are talking ideas right now, nothing set in stone; perhaps a pink cowgirl theme. but im really loving the very hungry caterpillar idea. good one to think about! one things for sure - we're all going to be nice and warm come july and our kiddos birthdays.

I'm into party planning and we have a big family combined, so I'm planning on a medium/large party for my son's 1st bday. Since it's in the summer time, I was thinking outdoor, which led me to use the Jungle Safari theme. Instead of the usual clown.magician.balloonmaker I decided on a Caricature maker, so least kids/guests have something personalized to take home with them.

Table/party decor: safari pith hats, with a plush animal, binoculars, etc.

I was thinking BBQ'd food, cotton candy, snowcones, animal crackers, lemonades, punch fountain, etc.

A lot of my ideas and help came from michael's crafts, etsy.com, party blogs, partydress.com, etc.

I'm still working on the details as we speak, so much more. (I've cut corners on cost, since I'm making a lot of the party stuff and so the cake is going to be a 3-tier Jungle Scene with animals and a monkey hanging off the tree on the top tier)

weve decided on a pool party as well, but we're doing aquatic theme .. lots of fish etc. and we have to do it at our waterpark as we're in Germany

I have been thinking too of renting a pool in my hometown & throwing a pool party, but there will be a lot of kids so I'm not too sure about that yet......

For my daughters first birthday we are going to do a Princess Pool party. We are going to have a cookout and swim in the pool. Our family and friends are really looking forward to it. Everything is going to be pink and lots of crowns.

I also included pictures of her in the book of the ultrasound, when she was born, and up to a year. All the games thats included in the booklet I also put the answers on the last pages. SOOOO much fun it will be

My baby Staley's bday party is Saturday, July 31. We are giving her a Kai-Lan birthday party theme, with lots of games and excersizes for the children to play. We will also have the pool out, with a slip and slide and water slide fun jump. As for the food, I was thinking something for the kids (nachos, chili dogs, french fries, punch, ice cream, cake, etc...) I also made her a coloring book with activities for both the children and the adults to have fun with; puzzles, coloring pages, word search, hidden pictures; How many words can u make out of her name STALEY, and I found 30 words. It just takes imagination and creativity for everyone to have fun!

we just did the 1st birthday theme and for the cake instead of a theme cake i had one of my daughters pictures from the hopsital on the day she was born so everyone could see how much she grew! everyone loved it!

I am thinking of doing a goth or Lolita version of an Alice in wonderland tea party(b&w cheshier cat included). it may not be the best idea, but it will at least be memorable ^_^

The day itself we're going to the zoo. Just the three of us.
The next weekend we have a big garden party. We picked 'rainbow' as a theme. Very easy, as we have to get bright colours and we're set.
We have a photo shoot booked for the invitations.
The favours and the birthday cake are ordered. Now, all I have to do is look for decorations.

I figure my daughter will be a bit young to remember but want to get as many pictures of her birthday and what it meant to our families. My daughter's birthday is on Wednesday so me and my husband plan on doing something, just the three of us like going to the park and just making the day about her. The Saturday before one family will give her a house party with family and the Saturday after the other. This way both families get to give her all the attention she wants and we can give.

lysha that sounds like a fun party! I live in a boring little town in Ohio so there isn't anything like that around here that'd be fun to do, but I'm sure your little one will love it! The grown ups will probably have a blast acting like kids too :) I cannot imagine living in 112 degrees day to day... Here, when it gets to 80 everyone freaks!

There was a park where I used to live and iit has these big ball looking structures on grass. I was thinking of having a ball party there....and buy a bunch of different types of balls and let whatever kids (and grown ups too) just play with balls. Like put up a volleyball net up and yeah... A ball party. I figured the kids could pick a ball to take home as a party gift instead of candy bags. For food, hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, juice, soda, water, salads...simple things, kid friendly. Cake... Round...like a ball...

We moved to an area where it gets 112 degrees F so park is not an option....maybe if we all wear bathing suits and have sprinklers or go near a lake to keep cool.

I am thinking about doing an Eric Carl's Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday...they have kits you can buy with decorations and invites. Then you can make a cake in the shape of a caterpillar! I think I found the kits on Amazon.com.

I thought about taking him to the zoo, BUT our friends & family will want to be involved and thats asking a lot for them to travel 2 hrs to go to the zoo with us. My son loves monkeys too & that's why I'd like to take him to the zoo. My fiancé & I are getting married in Tennessee July 3rd & we will be visiting an aquarium while we are there. My son LOVES Spongebob, Umi Zoomi, & iCarly (weird I know, but he actually says carly, carly, carly). I'm thinking about just doing a nickelodeon theme, but also considering a toy story theme because I think that'd be really cute!
