Hey, my son is 7 months old and on solids. On the labels to all the baby juices I have found, it says too only give your baby juice at meal times. The problem is don't know if my son is getting enough juice. He's quite constipated a lot of the time and only drinks about 5 mls at each meal time. Is this enough or can I give him more during the day? Thanks. :)

My ped said that i could give my daughter up to 8 oz of juice a day, not only at meal time. she also recommended Motts for tots white apple grape juice. just as healthy as baby juice and about half the price. and it's good for constipation. hope this helps, my daughter has never been constipated so far!

Hi,
Prehaps look at what solids your son is eating? Maybe he is not getting enough of something or is having too much of something?
My son has baby muesli mixed with a bit of pureed fruit for breakfast, yogurt or custard or fruit for lunch and pureed vegies for tea. He is also bottlefed. I try to mix it up every day. He gets constipated now and then.
Sorry, not sure if this helps at all. But if my son was constipated, i would probably look at his diet or his formula (if bottlefed).
Goodluck!

Our Dr said for constipation try prune juice diluted with water, or pear juice diluated, or even just water! :) My daughter drinks a lot of water and doesn't have an issue with constipation!

Juice really isnt necessary at all. If you are giving it just for constipation issues I would try using prune or pear juice only. If you are giving it just for hydration purposes I would try giving just water. An increased water intake can also help with constipation. You can give up to 8oz of water a day according to my Pedi and Dr Sears "The Baby Book".

Also keep this general rule of thumb in mind... P foods=Poo B foods=binding. So prunes, pears, peas all help with poo and bananas are binding.
