My 7 month old is not crawling however he does scoot so he is all over the place and he can go on his hands and knees but hasn't figured it out yet. Also he can't sit up for more than a few minutes on his own, are there any other 7 month old who doesn't sit very long on there own?

hi, my 7 month old is not crawling yet. she has been sitting unaided for long period of time from 5month and rolling from 2month so has no problems and is bum shufflings and going backward like a crab. i read that most babies dont start crawling till 9 months now and it used to be common to crawl 7month when babies were put to sleep on there front so i wouldnt worry.

My Kadence will be eight months next week and is still not crawling...she is not even getting on her hands and knees yet. So, yours is a little further along at least.

My son is a little over 8 months and is not yet fully crawling. He gets up on his knees and goes backwards though so it should be any day now! But most babies don't crawl till about 9 months, so theres no hurry! =)

He's only had one infection, he can sit for probably 5 min but gets all excited then falls over.

Well, my girl isn't crawling yet either. She doesn't even scoot. She can sit on her own for a long time though. She can get up on her knees, but doesn't like to. She has pulled herself to standing in her crib twice the past two weeks though.

My little girl just turned 7 months, and she isn't crawling yet. She can almost sit up alone, but topples over if she turns her head. Just remember that all kids are different and go at their own pace. He'll get there eventually and you will be wondering why you ever wanted him to crawl in the first place! lol :)

Hey Tammy my daughter is 8 months and she can't crawl yet but it just depends on the baby themselves don't worry he will do it in his own time. She does sit up tho for fairly long periods.

My son is now 8 m and he can't sit alone for a long period and can't crawl. He moves by turning around, so you can find him everywhere.

My daughter started doing all this early. She could sit up on her own at 5 and a half months and she started crawling a month later.

all babies do things at their own time. my daughter will be 8 months on march 8th and she still doesnt crawl. she does sit for long periods of time and loves to stand with my help. i was concerned about her not crawling, but the doc said that as long as she's getting around it's ok which she does by rolling all over the place.

Has he had a lot of ear infections? A lot of times if they have fluid built up behind their ears it can affect their balance and cause them to have trouble sitting up on their own.

My daughter is 7 1/2 mths old now and she can sit up by herself, but she is not crawling at all, she really does not show any interest in it, she moves around her crib alot. She loves to stand up with me holding onto her, and she loves her Jumperoo.

my son is 7 1/2 months and does the same thing. on his back or tummy he scoots himself in a circle to whichever direction he wants to get and then he proceeds to roll there. sits up for maybe 30 seconds alone before getting crazy and tipping over. love to stand holding onto fingers.

My son is 7 1/2 months old and isn't crawling yet either. I am not too worried about it since every child is different. Just yesterday he figured out how to roll from his back to his tummy (he had been doing the opposite for awhile now). So, I know its just a matter of time. Enjoy the fact that he isn't mobile yet! :D You can never go back once they are!

my daughter turned 7 months today and is not crawling she does this weird hmm full body twisting turning half crawl thing to move about & can maneuver really well to roll in the direction she wants to go. Every child progresses differently, I have a friend who has a son a few months older then mine and my daughter was rolling before his son had any interest in rolling.

Sadly in Canada walkers are not legal anymore, I wish my daughter could have one but they banned them.

Don't worry. My 7mo. old isn't crawling either. She scoots all over the place as well. However, the average age for an infant to crawl is actually 9mo. Some babies don't crawl at all and they go right to cruising. As for sitting, they get stronger the closer they get to 8mo. I wouldn't worry about anything unless your doctor is concerned. :)

yup. my son Hale will be 8 months on the 13th and he doesnt even scoot. he will turn in circles on his tummy or back and then roll wherever he wants to go. he will try and toll after you if you leave the room. He also does not sit up for very long. he loves to stand and tries to walk if you hold his hands though. I think he just has no interest in crawling some kids dont ever do it

He is coming close, he always goes on his hands and knees and rocks and has moved his legs forward but not his hands so he just fell back on his tummy. He does have an older sister who will crawl around trying to teach him. My nephew was crawling at 5 months and now at 10 months is starting to walk and with my son being just 3 months younger can't even stand up as my nephew was at this age, my cousins baby was walking well at 8 months.

my son is aweek away from 7 months and he is only sitting on his own for a second or 2 at the most... he cant hold himself on his hands and knees he just collapses unless his on my chest then he can hold himself for a minute or so!!! im starting to worry now but i have been told by many people including mid - wives and health visitors that not all babies crawl.. some are bum shufflers!! so i wouldnt worry about it too much all babies are different so personally i wouldnt say there is no specific age for any baby to do anything obviously if they were a year + and couldnt do anything at all then i would be concerned!

My daughter turned 7 months 2/19 and just rolled over (front-to-back) for the first time today. She isn't crawling or trying to stand/walk at all yet. We've tried all we can think of to encourage her but it seems she's just not interested. She cried when she did roll today, I think it startled her.
She sits up very well as all of her weight is centered over her rump (she has a very solid torso), and fusses almost instantly if we put her on her tummy because she doesn't have much arm strength to push her chest/head off the ground. It will probably be awhile before she's crawling.

Relax! 7 months is on the early side to begin crawling. I think the average is 9 months but anywhere from 6 - 12 months is normal. My oldest didn't crawl until he was 11.5 months.

My daughter is 7 1/2 months and she is not yet crawling either. My mom told me that I went from rolling to walking so maybe she will do the same thing. Every baby does things in their own time. If you are really concerned though call your pediatrician.

My babe is just now 7 months and is quite happy with sliding backwards with her hands. She also does the rocking thing back and forth on her knees and hands. I'm not going to worry to much, she manages to get into enough stuff already! I kinda wish she'd just skip the crawl and go to the walk at like one year. That way, she'll be in less stuff. Looks like you don't have to worry either, so many Mums seem to be saying the same thing about their babies!

My 3rd daughter is the same way, i think its because i dont give her much floor time, due to the fact i have a very rambunctious 2 year old whos not careful with what shes doin. She will sit up on her own for minutes at a time but will still fall over. But she can scoot around when u lay her one way and look over shes in another direction. My second daughter had tons of floor time but my first two are 4 yrs apart, and she was walking on her own at 9 months, so im thinkin maybe the third will just go straight to walking who knows. It does make you wonder and makes you feel that they are way behind.

Mine just started crawling forward and sitting up in the last 2 weeks. She will be 8 months on the 3rd of March. She has been able to crawl backwards, but not forwards, and when I took her to the dr for her 6 month shots, the dr told me that some babies never do crawl because they just don't get it. He also told me not to worry because it is natural for some babies to never crawl especially if they are in a one child household because the child sees mom and dad walk, not crawl therefor they try to do what mom and dad do. He told me not to worry about it and that my daughter seemed to be doing just fine. Hope this helps ease your mind.

My daughter is 7 months too and she just hates to be on her belly. she doesnt even try to get on her hands and knees. she just rolls all over the bed and floor when we put a blanket down. but she sits up for long periods through out the day, but she cant lift herself up if she tips over lol. she still tries too though. but my mother in law and everyone else thinks she going to be one of those babies that skips crawling and learns to walk fast. maybe your son is going to do the same. but also babies do things on their own time and pace.

My son just turned 7 months on the 24th he's not crawling, he sits up for a few minutes by himself but I stay right there because he falls over and gets mad. Don't worry babies develop at their own pace, my daughter was crawling at 4.5 months and walking be10 months, so I thought there was something wrong, I asked the dr. she said that he will do it in his own time, not to worry. Every child is different.
