yup! my baby girlie was 6 months on the 23rd and she is 20 lbs 2 oz and 27 3/4 inches tall!!! and she's exclusively breastfed! she is my third baby and smaller than both my boys were at this age. she is happy and healthy...can sit up, roll over and recognizes us from a good distance...even if it's just our voices! nothing wrong with having a big baby :)

Yep no worries my daughter is also big for her age. I love it every roll on her soon she will be to big and losing all that chunk so enjoy it now! It's how you view your child that matters not otheres. If you think she looks fine and is healthy well then she's ok!

My daughter has an appointment next tuesday but she weighs 19lbs and is 25 inches long and she's two weeks from turning 6 months. She's got some chubby cheeks but that's about it. She was only 6lbs 4 oz and 19 inches long when she was born, I think they all progress at different rates, but I am with ya on having a big healthy girl! Congrats!

my daughter is 16lbs 7oz and 26 1/2in and she is in the 50th percentile for weight and 95th for height and the doctors say she is prefect from head to toe and she just went to her 6 month app. on tues. so it is okay to have a big baby when they start walking and stuff they will settle down.

[deleted account]

My son was 6lbs 10oz and 21 in. when he was born. At his first two appointments he didn't even make it into the 3rd percentile. Now he is almost 6 months old and ways 19.5 lbs and 26.5 in. Chubby babies are adorable and as soon as they start walking they'll be super skinny. Don't worry your baby is perfectly healthy!

emma is 6 1/2 mo. old and was 17 lbs at her check-up ... i have 4 older girls and NONE of them were or even are in the 50th percentile for height or weight ... she is by far my biggest! it's odd to buy 12 mo. clothes for a 6 mo. old

I think the doctors need to re-evaluate their precentile charts. I have a 6 month boy and at 4 months he was 16 lbs and 27.5 inches in height which put him in the 75% for his weight and 97% for his hight. Most of the baby boys I know that are the same age are just the same as him now and at 4 months. I think there is only like 1 or 2 that are not. Todays babies are going to be bigger because of eveloution and depending on when the chart was last updated it could be way off. Just look at our parents and how short they are compared to us for example. Anyway, that's just my theory and rant but I usually don't go by the whole precentile thing especially if my baby is healthy.

My son is 21.5 lbs and 27 inches long, so around the 90-95% percentile for height & weight. This is normal in my family. We were concerned though, and asked the doc, who isn't worried at all. Remember proportions. For a 6 month old, our kids are huge. But when you look just at the proportion of height and weight, they're a fine, healthy size. No need to worry! They're just larger than other kids their age, not unhealthy.

Hi, my daughter just turned 6 months but she hasn't had her 6-mth weigh in yet. I'm sure she'll be off the chart because at 3 months she was 19lbs! She's a big strapping lass, plenty of padding but you coudn't even call her tubby, she's just rock solid! But she was from the start - she was 11lbz 4oz at birth, and she was 4 days early! She's adorable and sooooo cuddly!

My older daughter (18 mos) just started to fit onto the charts between 75th and 95th at her 12 month appointment, and my younger daughter (6 mos) is still on the upper end of the charts. She's not unhealthy - just big. I'm 5'10" though, and was born 10lbs 10oz, so I never expected to have small babies. As long as she's healthy, no need to worry :)

Our daughter was a lovely 24 lbs of baby chub at 6 months. First off -Good job Momma!!! Roly Poly babies are the cutest:) Second off - our daughter is 4 now and is a perfectly healthy weight according to our doctor .She is currently in the 95 th percentile for height and weight.

My daughter had her check up last thursday and her pediatrician said the same. She is 27 1/2 inches and put her at the top of the chart and she weighs 17.8. She's my chunkers but she isn't fat. She's "proportionate" so her doctor says.

[deleted account]

Yep! Mine is now 6months and has been 28inches and 21lbs for the last 2! I've got steroids in my BM! (kidding) They're just healthy!

My daugther is the same way. At her 6mo. appt. she was 20lbs and 27 1/2 in. long. She is in the 97% for height and weight. No worries...they are healthy and strong. Also, she was big at birth...9lbs. 3oz. and 21in. long. Also, our doctor says that weight as a baby does not determine their weight as children. Once they start crawling and walking the weight gain will slow down a bit.

umm i know all about the car set thing my girl has out grown her, but there one at wall mart you can get, im pretty sure you can get then at a zeller, or a wal greens. etc. but its just a bigger car seat, its a 3 in one, it rear faces until they can be foreword facing, then you just turn it around, plus it converts into a booster seat once their old enough to be in a booster.

My girls the same!! Same age and weight......except she was 20 pounds on the dot. I'm not sure but she's 27.5 inches so not sure how many feet that would be. Yeah she's like the size of a one year old but perfectly healthy, she's chubby but not overweight. I'm confused on the car seat thing...she needs a new one but I'm not sure if I get a rear-facing or front-facing seat? It sounds for one year olds 22 pounds and over....but she's six months!!! I dunno what to do?

My daughter is 17.5 lbs and 25 1/2 inches long and I too was told that she is not "fat" at all and is just a big healthy girl. Like mentioned by others, she will work it off as soon as she starts to crawl and walk.

My daughter turned 6 months on Jan 4th and she`s 27 inches tall but only 14lbs 12oz. She`s always been in the low percentile for her weight but she eats well and is as healthy as can be. I think she must take after me since I`ve always had a thin build. On top of that, I don`t think she`s sat still for more than a few minutes at a time since she came home from the hospital.

I wish my doctor would have said the same thing. Except My daughter isn't as tall as yours. Maya is 6 months old and weighs a little over 20lbs. Her doctor told us she was fat! :( I think she just needs to grow tall some more to spread it out!

She is now about to be 7 months old and weighs about 20-22 pounds and is about 27 inches long. The doctor said she was perfectly healthy and nothing to worry about. She is such a great baby!

My soon to be l month old on the 24th was 19lbs 2oz on the 10th. Normally they say a baby is supposed to double their weight by 4 months so I thought he was doing pretty good, considering the fact that he was huge when he was born, at almost 11lbs.

Just took my daughter to her 6 month checkup last wekk as well and she's 19 lbs 15oz and 28 1/2 inches long. My other daughter (she's 5 now) was the same way when she was an infant. If you look at her now she's average weight and slightly taller than her classmates. I wouldn't worry about what percetile her child is in, as a mother you know if there is a problem.

same here we havent made it to our 6 month appointment yet but at 4 months she was 18 lbs. I'm thinking she will be at 20-23 at our six month and she is almost 28 inches long. Her height is just now catching up with everything. But she is healthy as she can be.
