What Is An Appropriate 7 Month Old Bedtime?

7 pm is a great 7 month old bedtime! Our LO goes down between 7 and 7:30 and gets up at 7 am with one feeding at about midnight. A lot of the literature says that babies do best with a bedtime between 6 and 8 pm. Ours used to have a later bedtime but sleeps much better with an earlier one.

That's my twins' sleeping schedule. 7PM is not early at all! My twins also sleep till 6:30-7 every morning. If I try to put them to bed later, they wake up in the middle of the night!

Oh my gosh you are so lucky! My son, Kaydon, is a really good baby, but he doesn't sleep that long! haha. Kaydon goes to sleep between 8:30 and 9:30, but that's because I keep him awake by playing with him and distracting him. I'm trying to get him on a schedule, but he's starting to get sleepier earlier and waking up earlier. I guess you just never know. All babies are different. Good luck! =]

i think you should let your baby make his own routine to suit himself, my son is nearly 8 months old and he usually goes to bed at around 7 but sometimes earlier if he seems tired. he wakes up at 7 - 7.30 am, with no feeds during the night.

I guess I'm in the minority. My son will be 8 months old next week. His bedtime routine starts at 5/5:15 pm and he is put to bed and asleep by 6/6:15 pm each night. Generally wakes up twice to nurse, and is up for the day by 7/7:30 am at the latest. He takes a two hour morning nap and a 1.5 hour afternoon nap.

My son goes to bed anywhere between 7 and 9, depending on what we are doing...usually it is later on the weekends as we are usually out and about....He sleeps thru the night and wakes between 7:30-8:30....he naps anywhere between 2-3 times a day...depending on how long he sleeps during the nap justifies the extra nap :) but 7 is definitely not that early for a 7 month old's bedtime!

our little girl usually is in bed by 8 or 8:30pm the latest...but then she's up again at 6am!! an early riser like her mom...she then naps around 8amish for about a half hour...next nap is around 11:30-12 and then her last nap is usually around 3:30-4pm

i think whatever works for you and your schedule is good! I stay home with my son most days of the week and I have never been much of a morning person anyway so he goes down at around 930-10 and sleeps til about the same time the next morning.

My son is also 7 months old. He used to go to sleep at around 9. And wake up all night long but he had problems with his formula. Then when we got that switched to Similac Alimentum he started going to bed at 7pm. So no 7 pm is not too early for a 7 month old's bedtime. A baby sleeps when they want to. If you don't like his schedule I would suggest keeping him up a little longer and changing his nap times. My son doesn't really have a schedule anymore. He sleeps whenever he wants and doesn't really do naps throughout the day.

my son doesn't sleep all night i bath him around 7-7.30 give him a bottle then put him bed he wakes up about 2-3 times a night for a comfort drink then goes straight back to sleep anyone know how to get him to sleep through? he has 2-3 naps in the day he wakes up about 8-9am has a nap at 1.30 for an hour then at 4.30 for an hour or so? id love my son to sleep through 7pm isnt to early for your 7 month old's bedtime he has a routine for when he gets older then.

My son Phoenix goes to bed around 11. We've tried to get him to sleep earlier, but he won't have any of it!! But he sleeps until 9 or so, when my husband gets up for work, has a bottle and some play time and naps around noon. He sleeps right thru the night though.

I dont think 7 is too early at all for your 7 month old's bedtime. I recently stopped trying to keep my 7 month old up later at night and we now put her to bed at 6:30 or 7. Since doing this she sleeps longer or sometimes through the night and her naps have gotten better too. She wakes up around 6:30 or 7 am, naps for and hour or two around 9 am, then again around 2, and sometimes she takes at 20-30 minute power nap around 5. Moving her bedtime earlier had improved her whole sleep schedule. I should have done it sooner! Plus now I have good reason to go to bed early myself.

My little guy is about 6 1/2 months old and goes to bed between 7-730 most nights and sleeps thru til about 7am. On rare occasions like today he was sleeping by 630 because his naps were extra short today and he was getting crabby early. Going to bed early doesn't seem to effect his wake up time. If you think it's too early you can try putting him to bed 10 minutes later for a few nights then another 10 minutes later after that for a few more nights until you reach his "normal" bedtime, but if it's not affecting his wake up time I wouldn't change a thing.

My daughter is 6 1/2 monts old and goes to bed between 6:30 and 7 pm because she only naps for a total of 2-2 1/2 hours. She does the same schedule you described. The only bad thing is she needs to eat at around 3-5 am because it's been 8-10 hours since she went to sleep. She has never gone to bed past 7:30. I think your son is fine. he sounds pretty scheduled which is great.

7pm is a perfect time for a little one to be in bed. Emma is No.4 in our house and all the kids still go to bed at 7 pm even my 8 year old! It is not only essential for growing babies and children to get between 10-12 or more hours sleep at night but great for you and hubby/partner to get some time together without the children.
My eldest started on a 7pm bedtime at 10 weeks and all the others have fitted in with that.It sounds like you have a great little sleeper on your hands and he is getting the sleep that he needs. His nap times are also the same as Emma's and she also sleeps till 7.30-8am in the morning.
Good for him I say, he's a sleep champion!

My son of 3 years and my baby of almost 7 months both go to sleep at around 6:30 / 7pm. My year old sleeps until about 5:30/6am, and the little one until 6:30. He gets fed a couple times throughout the night, but I don't really know how often, how late, or how long. We have a kingsize bed and he's in bed with us, so he feeds and I sleep. Most mornings all 4 of us wake up in the kingsize bed...sometime during the night older brother usually comes crawling in with the rest of us, although he refuses to go to sleep anywhere but his own bed.

my little boy is 7 months and has a morning nap at 10.30am sleeps for half hr then has another sleep at 12.30pm till 1then has a 1 hr sleep at 4pm and feed bath and in bed by 6-6.30 and sleeps till arond 7-8am depends on what we do in the day and wont sleep while i am out ...

My boy is now 7 months and go to bed anytime between 5 and 7pm. depends on if he had his 4pm nap or not. he does not sleep through yet, and wakes up for his bottle around midnight. my daughter on the other hand is 2 yrs and 3 months and she goes to sleep at 7pm every night and sleeps until 6 the next morning. so i don't think 7 is too early of a bedtime for your 7 month old, i am normally just too happy to get them in bed early so that me and my husband can relax and chat in peace.

My son goes to sleep anytime between 8:30 and 10pm, depending on how tired he is after the day. Even taking two two hour naps, one about 10am and the other about 3pm, he still sleeps through the night and gets up when I go to work at 7am. I think every baby is different. If the "routine" your baby is on works for him or her and you then stick to it.

Temperance goes to bed most nights by 630-7pm. sometimes she has night or two where she wont sleep till 830pm but they are very rare. my eldest son has trouble going to bed at 730pm so she has got herself a sleep ruteen she follows. some children change there sleep patterns all over the place but i have lernt that if you keep them to the time at night you want them to they will learn that this isthe time you want it to be, thye may not sleep but solong as they are safe and you cheack up on them if they are gertting too stressed it should be alright. most of the boys i know have a hard tme from 6 months on trying to sleep as they only want to adventure and discover things, not saying that girls don't want that eather ,but there is a bit of difference sometimes betwwen the two.

We put our son to bed between 7 and 9, it really depends how much they nap during the day. Our oldest didn't sleep until 10 or 11 at night. A sleep schedule really isn't needed until the start having a more structured day ie: daycare, going to school etc

Jazmin will start getting sleeping about 6pm. I feed her at 6:30 and then she's off to sleep by 7. Sometimes she is still awake at 7:30 but soon falls asleep. I personally think that whatever activites happen during the day effect when she sleeps.

I think the baby should be on whatever schedule works for you. I go to school at night and get home at 10:30 so she waits up for me and the feeds and goes to bed about 11 and sleeps until 10am. i think every kid is different

I had a 8pm schedule for 5 months too, i just moved it too 7 pm in the last month..my son was just too tired by 7:30pm..He usually goes till 5am-nurse and go right back to sleep till 7:30am.I wish he would skip that 5 am waking:-))So to answer your question:NOOO-7pm is absolutely not too early to put baby down...docs recommend anywhere between 6:30-7:30 latest

Karitane , which is a baby clinic run by nurses recommends that you send babies to bed no later than 7-7:30pm. I agree and my daughter goes to bed at 7pm and is up at 7am. Not only is it good for baby, but how good is it to be able to have time with your partner at night?

We put our son to bed anywhere from 8:30-10:30. We go by when his 'last' bottle will be and how tired he is. He will not go before that! If your baby is sleeping well 7 doesn't sound too early for him. Every baby is different!

My baby goes to bed anywhere from 7-8pm every night too. She is usually down at 8pm. I start her bath routine/cereal feeding at 6:30pm, let her play after her bath, and then give her a bottle, play or bed. When she gets really still I know she's getting tired and I take her to her crib. She can sleep 12-14 hours straight but I have to wake her at 6:30am for my work. She gets to sleep in on the weekends. She naps every day from 9am-10am or so then again from 1pm-3pm. I don't like to let her nap past 5pm ever.

My son has a bath, breast then bed at about 8pm. He has been in this routine since he was about 2 months old and he goes to sleep immediately, but he still wakes once a night for a feed. Sometimes he will go to bed 15 minutes earlier, depending on how late his last nap was. He has three naps a day, waking between 6:30 and 7, nap at about 9:30, 1pm and 4:30pm.

My son goes to bed right around 7/7:30 as well and sleeps right through until 7:30/8am. My son doesn't nap a lot during the day and babies play hard and burn a lot of calories and energy during the day so I think sleeping a lot at night is just them recharging their batteries.

My daughter goes to bed between 9 and 10. sounds late but she won't go any earlier. She will go for 2 naps during the day and one of those can be up to 2 hours. Think you have to go by each child,

My little girl did almost the exact same thing as your son, it seems! I started by trying to put her down around 8 or so, and she bumped it up to 7:00 after a week of trying that. Now, we start our bath and whatnot at 7, nurse around 7:15 and she's usually asleep by 7:30 or so. My little girl seems extra tired these past couple weeks as well, which I've been owing to teething and lots of activity during the day. She doesn't quite sleep through until my morning time though. I usually nurse her whenever she wakes up sometime in the 2-4 AM range and then we start our day officially between 6 and 7 when she wakes up for real. Typically, we do a morning nap and an afternoon nap, similar times as yours, but it varies based on what we've been doing, where we are, etc. I just go by her signs and put her down when she's sleepy.

I am slowly getting Alex to bed a little earlier, he used to get his bath at 9pm. He also used to get 3 naps a day, but we've cut it down to 2, hence the slightly earlier bedtime. Up in the morning 6.30-7am, first nap around 10.15-10.30, then second nap around 3.30. Of course, if we're out on a play date, his naps are very different, but the bedtime stays pretty regular.
