wow i cant believe the posts on here. i seriously recomend u have a look and read the short book by penny brownly, its called Dance With me in the Heart. It basicly says your baby should not be put into a position he cannot get into or out of by himself.by putting him into a postition he cant get into or out of by himself you are teaching him that he does not need to persivair or problem solve- this can hinder him when he gets to school age and is then forced to try without help.not only this but you are also forcing him to use muscles that are not ready to be used yet.this has all been scientificly proven
The reason we force our children to meet these milestones within OUR timelines is because that is what generations before us have done, this does not mean it is right.health professionals also used to reccomend we sleep our newborns on their tummies, we all know now that was extreamly dangerous and increased the risk of cot death 16 fold!

I started as soon as Arianna could hold her head...she loved being in an upright postion so she could see everything! My baby is nosey just like her momma...HAHAHA! But yes as soon as they can hold their head upright I would start trying!

my 4mth is as inquisative (sorry i cant spell) as the next baby, wouldnt go in his carry cot from 5 weeks so had to use the push chair (facing mommy) as he likes to look around, but even from the slightly laid back position he is trying to sit up straight. He cant do it on his own yet, but at floor play he sit inbetween my legs with a toy and is happy also lies on his back,, not yet rolled but he keeps trying. Its great to watch them grow and learn new things.
My only advise is trust our own instint and your baby will do things when hes ready but a little encouragement never did us any harm... Have fun and good luck.

My four months old Lara doesn't like to sit, she likes to stand always.....I want her to sit down to pose in front of the camera but she refuses she wants to stand always. She also likes to eat, lick all her toys...

I would say as long as your child has good control of their head, any time would be good. I have a four month old son and he doesn't like sitting in his bouncy seat, so I put him in his walker and he loves it.

whenever your baby is strong enough to support her own head withoutt he or she jerking her neck my daughter was 3 weeks old and we didnt have to suport her neck as much. she was three months old and i would sit her with pillows around her and she would do just fine sitting up playing with her toys she also was in her jolly jumper at three months old all babies are different it all depends on how fast and strong they develope.

Hi Eloise, My son who is 4 months old now had GER reflux since his birth. Hence, i used to put him in 45 degress angle right from day 7. His neck is about to be steady now...i generally put him in a sitting position when i want to burp him on my lap..sometimes just for a 2 - 3 minutes i out him in the corner of our couch with support of some pillows. However just be very sure that his neck is on the verge of being steady..hope this was informative...

My little one has been sitting in her jumperoo for about 3 weeks now, about 90 min total a day. She loves it. Soemtimes her kicks even get it to play music which she loves. She sits in a bumbo seat at church as well. Loves it.

It's not about age, but about neck control. My 7 lb, 9 oz 3.5 month old sits in the Bumbo and loves it...but she held her head up at birth and is very strong. So long as they are moving around like a bobble head, any age is safe, and healthy for muscle development and digestion.

i was told as soon as my daughter had head control...I'd invest in a bumbo if i was you, it is amazing!!! we got ours at wal mart it was $35 its spose to really really help them get those muscles developed so they can sit all on their own my daughter loves it!

you will see the signs that hes ready such as trying to lift himself up and when his neck is strong and sturdy. my daughter wil be 4 months on the 30 th and the last couple of weeks she has been sitting supported with pillows or our hands! SHE LOVES THE NEW VIEW! I recommend a bumbo seat once your little one has good neck strenght. my 6 month old nephew has been using one the past couple of months and has gained more strenghth in his neck and back! Good Luck and enjoy him!
