My son is 10 mo. old has 3 going on 4 teeth and grinds them...! Not only is it the most annoying noise in the wold (kinda like the nails on the chalkboard thing) but I am wondering if its good for him. Didnt know if anyone else was having this problem and is so how far you took it. Do i need to talk to his dentist? I know teeth are new to him but also just wondering if its a phase.....
Would love to hear from everyone.... thanks!

I was thinking the same thing but don't have any ideas on how long it should go on. My son is 9 mo and will be 10 mo on Sunday, May 16th. He has been grinding his teeth for the last couple of weeks. he has 8 teeth. I hope it is just a phase. I was told I did it as a child also. Thank you for sharing.

My 9 month old daughter has 3 1/2 (lol) and she grinds them NON-STOP!! It's the worst sound in the world! I just give her a teething ring when she does it, or a toy, and she stops it.

my son is 10 months old now.. he did the teeth grinding until his two top teeth were all the way in.. its really common and yes it is horrible to hear. he stopped doing it a few weeks ago.. now he just bites everything.. there isnt really anything you can do about it except try to get him to chew a teether or a binki. i got one at the grocery store called a rasberry and that was his fav to chew on

I have one twin that grinds and the other doesn't. Their sister (3.5yo) sometimes grinds too, but I think they do it when they're really tired. Guess what?? Their mummy grinds but apparently I do it when I'm really tired. Teeth all ok, so they could grow out of it or not, but I do hope they do grow out of it ::(

my daughter was doing that as well so i did a little bit of research and found out that most children do it as a stress reliever. Now if i play with her whenever she starts, she usually will stop

My daughter has just started grinding her teeth.. not really sure how to stop her...I dont want her to grow up and continue doing it... I started grinding my teeth when i was two yrs old and I still do it....it sthen when i consintarted out that i was doing it in my sleep and when i was concentrating.. but now i do it and i dont realize it... i dont feel it or hear it.. but everyone else does...for me it has become a self conscious act. if you find something that works let me know..

My son has 4 teeth and he grinds them to the point of making me ill. I also do what Rebecca does and put his paci in his mouth to see if that will help. I assumed he was doing it cuz his mouth hurt and he wanted to chew on something. Good luck.

I don't think that it is a phase bc i can always remember my dad and my brother did it in there sleep, my brother is now 16 almost 17 and still does it although i don't have this problem with my baby but it did not affect my brother or my dad's teeth in any way they are just fine :) when they get older if they don't grow out of it i would suggest one of those mouth peices that the hocky players use to get rid of the chalk board sound but when they are much older that's if they don't grow out of it :)

m,y son is 9.5 months old and he just started doing that too. I also think it is the worlds worst noise. But i'm assuming he's figuring out his teeth. Hopefully they outgrow it soon.

My daughter is now 9 months old with 8 teeth, a few months ago when she was teething she was grinding her teeth too, and like you i was worried and actually did ring the dentist. They said not only are they new so she was discovering her new teeth, but it is also a way that they relieve the pain of their gums during teething

My son did it too after his top two teeth came in, but it didn't last long. What is worse is that lately he's been trying to chew on the rock ledge in front of the fireplace. Ugh! At least I can get him away from that though! :)

Dont worry to much unless he doesnt stop doing it, they are just new to him and hes trying to figure them out. My lil guy does is occassionally and my daughter used to do it. I know its annoying but its just a phase and hopefully itll be a short lived one

My first son (now 2) ground his teeth for quite a few months before he grew out of the phase. Now my 9 and a half month old is grinding, and yes it is irritating! But I know it will be over soon! I think part of it is that he is biting down to help grind the other teeth that are coming in...

My son is 9 and a half months old and has 8 teeth, and yep, he grinds them! I know it's fairly normal, but my brother (who's 9 now) ground his baby teeth down alot... I think he was doing it in his sleep whilst growing up, so I try to discourage my baby from doing it by putting his dummy in and saying, 'don't grind your teeth', etc. so hopefully he will stop! But yeah, as soon as one of his top teeth came through, he started grinding them...experimenting :)

My 9 month old son has 7 teeth and he grinds them too. I've been told that it's perfectly normal and he'll stop eventually. In the meantime, I'm getting goosebumps- it's totally nails on a chalkboard! Oh well, I'm sure it' won't last forever. :-)

It's a natural thing for kids to grind their teeth. They are new and they are trying to figure them out. I was told that the griding was a way for them to figure out how to grind down food into smaller pieces. Although it can be annoying they eventually grow out of it.
