My daughter will be 13 months on the 28th of august. Does anyone's baby, or remember their baby grinding their teeth. I've heard that it can be a tonsil problem but i don't want to take her to the Dr if its not a big deal. I know i cant take her to the dentist yet so I don't know what to do.

I dont think its a big deal. My daughter does tht too, or she bites hard things.... but thts cuz of her teething. So i'm sure it'll go away once all her milk teeth are out.

i've been told most babies so this until all their teeth come in (probably not ALL, but most) my 13 month does it...and oh man it annoys me. I tell him to quit grinding his teeth and will stick my finger in his mouth and rub my finger along his teeth and tell him to stop. so far that works, at least for a little while.

My son did it for about a month or so. I haven't noticed him doing it anymore though. It may just be a phase? I never too him to a doctor or anything, just give it some time. She will probably stop soon. :)

when my son got his first 4 teeth (2 top 2 bottom) he used to grind his teeth ALL THE TIME. it drove me crazy. when he did it i would just stick my finger in his mouth n after a while he just stopped. i mentioned it to my dr. n he said its most likly nothing. theres something new in there mouth n since there learngin to chew rather then gum everything he grinds his teeth. if your that concerned call health links or call ur dr. but it shouldnt be a big deal.

I don't know about this tonsil nonsense. My daughter grinds her teeth and my mother told me that it is something my five siblings and I all did. It's a teething thing. We think the vibration of the grinding teeth goes into the gums and makes them feel better. Is she getting in teeth? Btw, the tonsils and other adnoids do not fully develop until they are 2 years old, so take that into consideration before rushing your child into a doctor.

My daughter is 13 months she does it too. its normal It is only a problem if you do that to your permanent teeth Just distract her when she starts doing it.

my son does it, i think its just what they do when there teeth are coming in, and after all, the teeth are new so they are just seeing what they are i guess.

Yeah, my 13 month old does it to. My oldest one never did, but she didn't get teeth until she was 14 months. My youngest is now just getting her top teeth, so I know its because it's new. It is the most horrible sound!

My daughter grinds her teeth also, my dentist said that for now it is probably her just exploring her new teeth. We will watch her to make sure shes not doing any damage though.

My daughter did it. She is going to be 14 months on Sep. 3rd. She grind her teeth a lot and I would always tell her to stop (for my sake not hers since it bugged me so much). She finally stopped but every now and then she does it, but for the most part she is over the phase. I would say it is just a phase and wouldn't worry about it.

The grinding teeth sound is on my list of top 5 most annoying noises that make me cringe along with nails on a chalkboard and rubbing cotton balls...but I have been told it doesn't do they harm. And its a phase, like everything else at this age. Which is good and bad cause at least you know its temporary but there's really nothing you can do about it. Because they are so young, any reaction out of you will cause them to want to do it again. So I did my best to ignore it and it never lasted over a week with either of my sons. I have yet to report on my daughter...havent reached that stage yet :)

My 13 month old grinds his teeth/gums my mom noticed that my son was doing that and said that i use to do it as a baby as well and i still do it now when im a sleep. I don't hink its a big deal at the moment but once hes old enough to go to the dentist mention it to them and see what they say.

My 13 month old does it too! It drives me crazy from the sound.. I was a bit concerned as well.. but im glad to know she isn't the only one that does it and its normal! Ever since she got her top 2 teeth a couple weeks ago she does it once in a while. She doesn't grind her teeth at night which is good but it sounds terrible when she does it during the day! Im glad to know that my baby isn't the only one that does it!

My 13 month daughter does it too (and her older brothers did it when they were younger). For Liv I think it's partly because she's getting her first molar and is trying to ease the pain. I found giving her a chew toy or her pacifier works.

yeah if she's had them for 4mths then they would've just come down to the full length. Sounds like she's just playing with them.

Hi has she recently gotten apposing top and bottom teeth. If so it's normal they're just getting used to these new things in their mouth. My eldest did this at 7mths when he got top and bottom front teeth and now my 13mth old is doing the same. They shouldn't grind enough to hurt their teeth but my oldest did chip his top front tooth a little but not enough to worry about and people who don't know it's there don't notice. As a dental nurse I often got mothers complaining about their babies grinding their teeth. Hope this helps everyone

i talked to my dr about this because my son kept doing it at about 9 months, she said it was no big deal, they cant do it hard enough to hurt theyre teeth, even if it sounds like that. it just made me cringe so i kept giving him things to bite down on. i think they probably do it because they have teeth coming in and feel the need to bite hard.
