Definitely needs to be alcohol free. Most brands are and they will say in big letters Alcohol free.

We used gripe water on my daughter during the first 2 months. It did not help with her hiccups but did help with her gas almost immediately. I used a syringe to give it to her and she had no problems taking it from that, but the pacifier with medicine cup sounds like a great idea. I was told that if you are going to use gripe water that you need to make sure that there is no alcohol in it.

I've tried it but it didn't seem to do anything, then I was introduced to Ovol. It;s amazing!! My daughter will be fussing/crying and I'll give her a bit and she IMMEDIATELY colms down, it's almost comical. She doesn't spit it out or anything. When she gets the hiccups I usually just put her to the breast and they stop. Good luck!! :D

I have been giving it to my daughter in her bottle since she was 3 weeks old. It has helped dramatically. In fact, when we ran out of it for a few days, I noticed a CRAZY difference in her crying fits, gas, etc. It's worth a shot!

I have given my son Gripe Water.  It seems to get rid of hiccups.  My son also has some digestive problems and in the beginning it worked like magic but after a few days I could not really tell a difference.  I still give it to him every once in a while.

Gripe water is my saviour.

I have tried the Life brand and the Kolik brand and they both are wonderful. My daughter loves the taste of both and it's great for her hiccoughs and upset tummy. One tastes like dill and the other like black licorice. I give my daughter the recommended dose in her medi-soother, another wonderful invention. It's a pacifier with a little measured container, almost like a medicine cup, that just screws onto the pacifier. It helps a lot with medications and Gripe water. You can get them at Zellers or Wal*Mart for sure.

I use it! It gets rid of his hiccups right away too. I like the fact that it isn't medication and it's made with herbs and natural ingredients. I sometimes use it in conjunction with Mylicon when he's gassy. When he's really fussy I use it by itself or I use it with Hyland's Colic Calm and it works really well.

love it! my daughter was gassy and it helped A LOT. my sister in law recommended it as she used it with my nephew for his first 3 mths. gripe water has been around for ages, so its definitely working and it does no harm to the baby.

i have given it to my son and he likes it and it does help with his hiccups and gas, i think it has even helped him poop too. I dont give it to him in the dropper b/c its watery so i give it to him in a medi dropper it has like a nipple so its easier for him to take

gripe water is supposed to be one of the more natural remedies for wind etc. but you can also get a product called infacol from your pharmacist... u can askthemn more about it .

i put it in my sons bottles and it really helps him to get up his wind... some of the burps he has done nearly blew my head off lol

i have this lil medicine dropper i looks like a bottle nipple ontop of this lil medicine container you put the gripe water in that put the nipple back on and they drink it like a bottle it works wonders its made by safety first look by there products for it in the store but my daughter had the same problem when i tried to give her the gripe water out the dropper then my grandma bought me that medicine bottle and it works greeat id really invest in it you'll probably need it some oher time in the next yr....

i love the stuff i my doctor recommended it not just for gas or hiccupps but when my daughters fussy i give her a tea spoon and instantly no gas no hiccups or if shes colicie boom shes smiles and big bright eyes i love the stuff and nurses use it all the time on newborn in the nursery at the hospital if the babies r fussy or even before the curcum cize boys because it relaxes them i think its a gift from god and the fact that its all natural makes it great in my book thats just my opinion but if its working for you and your baby and its alright with your doctor i dont see a problem with using it

I have also been giving it to my son who cries constantly and has been diagnosed as colic. It seems to be working but there is no magic cure :(

my daughter was incredibly gassy...mainly because of formula started at such an early age...so i tried the gripe water...it helped tremendously! I just put it in her bottle and she sucked it right down.

we had our little girl on mylicon drops for the gas....just put it in her bottle. she was incredibly gassy to the point of crying and crying and crying..however, we recently put her on nutramigen (for her reflux) and havent given her the mylicon drops in over a week and the gas seems to be under control

i have never heard my daughter scream as painfully as what she did when she was a few months old.i never gave it to her again. but my mum used to give it to me and i never had a problem with it

I always add the gripe water into my sons bottle he drinks it right down with no problem

I was given the suggestion of gripe water since my daughter suffers from hiccups on a regular basis. She isnt the biggest fan of it and it didnt work that well for us. At first she spit most of it out but I found that feeding it to her slowly making sure that she sucks on it as though it was a bottle so she takes it at her own pace not being forced was the best way to get her to take it. It seems to help.
