I have been BF my baby girl who was born 7-7-09, she's 6 mo. and I STILL havent had a period. My OB said it will come eventually but that was months ago. I seem to retain water and I get bloated, crabby and other PMS symptoms. I was just wonderin if anyone else gets these symptoms or when they started ( I plan on BF for a year)

I've been BF for 6.5 months and i still haven't gotten a period. I've been told that as long as you BF you will not get a period. As for PMS symptoms I don't get bloated or retain water, but i am wanting the salty foods around the time that i would be having a period, accompanied with headaches, and the moodiness. Hope this helps.

I'm still breast feeding and mine hasn't returned either. When I had my first child 7 years ago I breast fed her for 2 years but on her first birthday started nursing her less only twice a day morning and night and my periods returned a month later when she was 13 months.

I'm breastfeeding baby #4 and I never have a period as long as I'm nursing at all. I start back about 2 mo. after I quit nursing. Yes, it's awesome....one of the many, many, many advantages to breastfeeding!

I stopped BF at 4 months cuz of lack of production and I still don't have my period. It's all about the hormones in your body getting back to normal plus I still leak alittle.

I still haven't had mine yet either and I sure ain't complaining. I have spoken with other mothers and it seems like it varies from person to person and baby to baby.

I've beeb BFing exclusively for my little man 07-10-09 and I got one in September and haven't had another since which my doctor told me is entirely normal while BFing!

I just recently started mine. I pumped every time he ate since he was 2 weeks old (he wouldn't latch so I went from BFing to pumping then). Two months ago I reduced my pumping to 8days a day, down to 2 times. (slowly of course). And I just started. I spotted for the first 5 days, then bled for a week, then spotted for another week.

My daughter was born 7/16 and is breastfed..I just got my 1st period last week. I loved not having it for so long, now I worry if it'll be regular or messed up since I'm still BFing. I would feel like I was going to start during those 1st months but it never came and then I had no symptoms and it finally did.

No period for me!!!!! Yeah! Sophie is 6months, adn my ob said it will take at least 9 months for my body to regenerate pre-pregnancy, so I guess 3 more months at least for bliss!

I didn't have my period either, and i only breast fed for 2 months. he's almost 6mo old now. I only started because I started taking birth control pills. The doc said breastfeeding mothers usually take longer to start :) yay for us!

Hi, I stopped breastfeeding last week, my little one is 6 months old and I havent got my periods yet either. I heard it can take a few months after you stop breastfeeding before they come back...

I haven't started yet, I think it is GREAT!, but I have taken about 5 pregnancy tests, one a month. Keegan is almost 6 months.

with my first child, i didn't get my period until i stopped breast feeding my son, which was 14 months. if you are really concerned they have a birth control pill you can take while nursing.

I'm jealous! No period, that would be great. Mine came back pretty much as soon as I was done bleeding from having him. Great 6 weeks. I didn't get to breastfeed because I am on anti-epileptic medicine.

My 1st two children were 14 months before I got my period. #3 was 9 months, so far nothing with miss 6.5 months. yay

Emma is my No.4 and nearly 6 months, no period yet, but each one has been different. I fed all for 12 months and got my period back at 7, 9 & 10 months, just depends on what your body and baby are doing. Enjoy it while it lasts!

I just stopped breastfeeding after doing it for 5 months (in addition to formula, too. I got some PMS symptoms while I was weaning. Got my period about a week or two later and it was so heavy it was ridiculous! Enjoy not having it and don't worry about when it will come!!!!

You won't as you are still producing certain hormones when Breast Feeding, which will hold off your periods. Enjoy ladies!!!

Nope - no period here either. No symptoms that I've noticed. I plan to breastfeed for at least 12 - 18 months (maybe 24) I'm not worried about it - in fact I love it. I've heard that when your period comes back really varies while breastfeeding. So I think you're perfectly normal & are doing something wonderful for your baby girl
