How do you get a almost 3yr to leave his car seat harness fastened when you are in the car and driving.

Strap that sucker down! I have problems getting it tight enough (actually, most of my mom friends have problems with this too) my husband wrenches the seat in tight and wrenches down the straps on our Munchkin. Sometimes I think it's too tight, but when I ask the kiddo he always says "no". So, if your child is getting loose, maybe his straps aren't tight enough?

Spank his bottom..Its a life or death situation..Thats what a loving swat on the bottom SHOULD be reserved for....Sorry if anyone is offended, we rarely spank, but in this case...I would if its willful defiance and he is just not listening...warn him of the spanking. then when you have told him you will be giving the spanking on his bottom because you love him and want him to obey for his own safety. give him ONE spanking on the bottom.It will not hurt , but draw attention to the consequences of his defiance. Please tell him you love him and want him to be safe...I love my kids more than ANYthing....This was the HARDEST rhing but I do remember 31/2 - 4 being kind of a time where discipline was a routine. Our little girl is 8 and our bay is 9 months. She is a very well-behaved, LOVED, good-citizen and adults like to be around her. That said if a swat on the booty is against your beliefs.....try time-out, or "TEST" Taking Everything away for a SHORT TIME" . (TV, FRIENDS, etc.) Last year ,after having not been spanked in 3 years+ we took her movies away.Our little girl wrote us a poem.
"Take away my friends
Take away my toys
just spank me
but dont take my movies"
She is pretty funny and i am guessing she wanted a swat more thsn losing her veggie tales privileges.
GOOD LUCK. We love our kids, but they dont say"its the toughest job you'll ever love" for nothing..:)

My son is 3 and he uses a booster seat cuz he is the right weight and height for it. before that he never did undo his harness except when the car would stop and be shut off. all you can do is is talk to your child about how it is unsafe because you cant force him to stop
