How many naps at 7 months?

My little guy has suddenly stopped wanting to take 2 naps. He was napping at 11am and again at 3pm. Now he suddenly only wants to nap once around noon for about 2 hours. He gets cranky later in the day and when I try to lay him down he just ends up screaming for an hour. How many naps are your lo's taking now?

my twins have been pulling the same lately or several 30 minute to 1 hour naps throughout the day. We just got back from vacation so I'm going to try really hard to get them on the solid 2 hour twice a day naps again.

mine still takes what we call "naplets" tiny little 20 or 30 minute naps though out the day. She only takes one big nap around 1 pm and only for a couple hours. If he's tired and wants to lay down, lay him down. Otherwise i'd let him play himself to sleep, or if he doesn't sleep at all, I'd just be glad for it because he'll sleep better at night.

My son wakes around 6am, his 1st nap is around 8:30am which is about 45min to an hour if i am lucky, he is then awake until 11 - 12 where then he naps again for another 45 min to an hour and then between 4 and 5 again down for the night between 6:30 - 7pm, i wish that he would have longer naps !!

omg mine is doing the same thing! he used to take a nap every 2 hours on the dot for 45 minutes. now all of the sudden he takes one, maybe two 2-3 hour naps and is cranky by the end of the day but i don't wanna let him nap cuz it's too close to his usual bedtime so he just gets very cranky. i just try to keep him busy while he is cranky. always moving. i found that the baby einstein classical baby movies are very soothing to him and he will watch them thru the whole cranky period of the evening. i don't do that every night cuz i personally don't like letting him watch alot of tv. but keeping him busy and keeping to a routine is key. hope things work out for you!

My daughter is also 7 months and she rarely takes naps during the day. The longest one lately was about an hour. She normally takes about 2 20-30 minute naps during the day and isn't sleeping through the night yet either.

My son takes 3 naps each day. He usually takes one about an hour after he eats his morning bottle (right after he gets up- usually between 8-9am), then one after lunch (he usually goes down around 1-2pm) and one after dinner (he usually goes down around 6:30). Generally he takes 1 hour naps two of the naps and then one is usually about 2 hours long. However, he doesn't go to bed until between 10-11pm, so he has a long day! Sometimes he won't take his morning nap, but I always try every day regardless. He falls asleep much happier/quickly when we play his soother (we use it instead of a mobile), and sometimes start him out in his swing until he's really tired and starting to fall asleep. Hopefully this helped some! Good luck!

I am going through the same thing right now with my little girl. She just turned 7 months this week and is refusing to take an afternoon nap. She typically takes 3 1 to 2 hour naps during the day. Now she is only sleeping for about and hour in the moring. The evenings are awful, and she ready for bed by 5:30 or 6:00. I am hoping this is just a phase.

Wow, thats almost exactly like my guy! He had been napping at 11 and 4, and going to bed around 930, and now he might nap for a little bit around 12 or 1, but thats it...and he wont go to sleep until about 1015 or 1030.

well, our schedule looks exactly the same like Gia´s. She goes to sleep three hours after she wakes up (which is usually 6:11 (: ), so around 6, then she always weaks up in about one and half hour, and then again. After that again and then again 3 hours awake, bath time, and sleep around 6:30 for good 10 hours...:)

My daughter was never on a schedule either, she will be 7 months in 4 days, she is teething now so she doesn't sleep well at night and if I am lucky will sleep a bits through-out the day.

Elise fights sleep when she is tired, I have found old methods to put her to sleep had to be changed, rocking her and lying down in my bed with her until she finally settles down enough to sleep before transferring her into her own bed are the key now. If she really won't sleep and is being a tyrant I take her for a walk in the stroller. A drive works too...

My daughter is 7 months and she'll have 2-3 naps daily. Napping schedule is not set in stone, however, is based off her waking time. I follow the 2 hour rule...she should not be awake longer than approximately two hours. On most days that means she's taking the 3 naps, having 5 feedings, getting to bed between 8:00-9:00 pm and sleeping through the night. However, since her teeth are coming in she has been more irritable when it comes to nap times, but I still attempt to put her down for the naps.

I would strongly encourage everyone to read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth, M.D. Best gift I received!! It would answer your questions best.

My little girl wakes up somewhere around 730. She takes her first nap around 11 and wakes up around 1 or 2. She takes another nap around 4 or 5 and wakes back up around 7 or so and then goes to sleep for the night at 9. She'll be 7 months on the 28th. I work full time so she's on a pretty set schedule.

Just when we think we have their schedules figured out, they go and change it. The joy of parenthood. Mine is trying for one nap a day recently. They are cranky toward evening and need more attention. lt's a good time to give them some good cuddling. As soon as you get used to the new routine, they will come up with a new one.

my son will sleep about 10:30, then around 3:00 or so....and only sleeps for about 30 minutes each time. He does get cranky towards the evening hours, but by then it is too late for him to take another nap, so I keep him up and he is ready for bed between 7:30-8 pm....sleeps all night!

Hi Lori, my lo is 6 1/2 months now & wakes between 7 & 8am, she will play and have her breakfast & usually takes a nap within 2 - 3 hours of being up. However, she will only nap usually for about 20 mins, on the odd occasion for a hour. If i lay down with her, she will usually sleep for a hour/hour n half. After that she will play again and then nap again somewhere between 12:30 & 1:30pm for about 30 minutes. If we have been playing alot and she gets worn out, she will sometimes take another nap around 4pm for about 30 min's & has a set schedule of bath about 7pm & bed about 8:30pm...she is getting better and will sleep for 8 - 10 hours straight. She was waking every 2 - 3 hours for almost 2 month's when her 2 bottom teeth were coming through. Hope you and you lo are well, tc xoxoxox

I've thought about this recently as Grace is starting nursery next week when i go back to work. She's been settling in at nursery for this week and has been missing her 9:30am nap. She usually has three 30min naps 9:30am, 12:30pm and 3:30pm but these times are bang on when the kids at nursery have their snack times (toast/crumpets) and lunch. She seems to be ok with missing the morning nap (probably as there is alot going on, but I've found when I come to feed her at 10:30am and 3pm with her bottles she conks out in my arms, so she's still getting two 30min naps (whilst at home with me..not yet done a full day at nursery) but that only equates to an hours worth off naps a day but she'll sleep 12 hours at night...do you think thats ok, or should I insist with the nursery that they try and put her down for a morn nap after their snack time? Arrrrgghh!

My daughter takes two naps, similar schedule you had. On the weekends because of her brother's baseball schedule and family outings she might end up taking only one real nap at noon and cat naps in the car... She usually goes to bed earlier as well.

How many hours does your son sleep at night? I remember my son dropped his second nap pretty early but he got solid 12 to 13 hours of sleep at night, while my daughter can's sleep more than 10 hours. Hope it helps

My daughter usually takes three 45 minute naps a day. This changed from two 1-1 1/2 hour naps a day with a 30 minute power nap thrown in somewhere. Just as I begin to think there is some consistency something changes somehow. Best wishes!

My 7 month old decided last week that he was only going to take one nap a day. He gets up around 8:00 and goes down for a nap around 11:00 or 11:30. He sleeps 3+ hours during his nap and 12 hours at night. I feel like he should still be taking 2 naps at his age, but he seems to be getting enough sleep.

My 7 month old son usually has two naps. He wakes around 7am. His first nap is around 10:30am-11am, usually for at least an hour to an hour and half and then has another nap around 2pm or 3pm for 30 mins to 1 and a half hours.
We dont have a set routine. I just put him to bed when he shows signs of being tired. I also make sure he's not due for a feed too close to his nap. I make sure his next feed is due at least an hour away when i put him down to nap so that he wont wake because he's hungry.

Hi, I follow a routien and my daughter wakes up at 7 and she naps at 9:30 for an hr and then she has another nap at 1:30pm for 2hrs. I have just cut down her morning nap to an hr. It all depends on the temperament of your child. They only need 2-4hr nap at this age. I think its fine as long as he is happy and sleeping well at night. I hope you find this reassuring.

'My son might nap once to three times a day he doesnt have a set schedule so im not much help sorry'

Exactly what she said. I only put him down for a nap if he seems tired. Not much point deciding it's 'nap time' if he's more interested in chasing the cats.

My daughter gets up around 9am then has a bottle and 2 hours later has some yogurt or fruits. After her solids she takes about a 2 hour nap with no problem. then we wake up around 1pm and do another bottle and 2 hours later a veggie or oatmeal then she is ready for another nap for about an hour or two. but the second nap does require me to rock her for a few minutes while patting her butt. hope this helps.

I was putting him down according to his mood. He starts getting real cranky around 2 hours after he gets up. But lately he has just been laying in there screaming for an hour when I put him down for the first nap. I guess I will try drawing out how long he is awake for between naps. I know he is tired though because he starts fussing so bad after being up for two hours.
