Hey ladies, My son has started drinking a lot less this week. How much milk or formula do your kiddos usually drink? Torsten normally has 30 - 40 ounces a day plus around 6-8 ounces solid food. The past 4 days he doesn't want much to do with his milk but is still hungry for solids. He's only been drinking about 15-20 ounces a day, so I've been giving him extra solids (he's had about 12-15 ounces solid food each day) and trying to make sure he gets a balance of protein and nutrients and all that. Just not sure if I need to worry about him getting dehydrated or if it's just normal for him to want less of a liquid diet at this age. I know formula/milk is still important at this age but how much is he supposed to get? I certainly wouldn't mind only going thru half as much of that expensive stuff!! lol

My daughter is 10 months old and she has almost switche completely to her cup. She will get a 6-8 oz bottle in the morning and a 6-8 oz bottle at bedtime. Other than that she gets gerber juice or sometimes water during the day and she eats 6-8 oz of her solid foods at each mealtime. I guess like the other moms on here our children are getting older and will be off formula soon so they transition themselves more or less. Plus it' sooooo much cheaper.

My daughter is doing the same thing. Even though we offer multiple times, she drinks only about 8 ounces total during the day. She wakes up twice a night and drinks an entire 8 ounce bottle each time. I am exhausted. My other kids were sleeping through the night at this point.

thanks! Sounds like it's normal. Now if I can just get him to drink the little bit of formula he wants during the day!! He basically refuses the whole day and has added in 3-4 night feedings instead. GAH! Just when we were finally down to only one waking during the night.

my son is 9 1/2 months old and drinks about 2-3 7oz of formula just early mornings and before bedtime and the rest of the day he'll eat solids and drink water in his sippy cup.

My daughter was BF till 9.5 mo and now has totally lost one bottle feeding, she's down to 3, 6-8oz formula bottles a day. We always give a sippy cup of water with her solids, but I'm going to add in a sippy cup of whole milk with her lunch and dinner solids to help wean her off the bottle. I read that as long as they are receiving between 16-25oz of formula a day that is sufficient. Ideally they babies should be off the bottle by about a year and using a cup/sippy cup...we'll see LOL

My son is so funny acting he drinks maybe 16oz a day. Only wanting to drink milk first thing in the morning with his cereal and before he goes to sleep. Since he was primarly breast fed he refuses the bottle he thinks their toys and throws them. He don't even like sippy cups so the only way he will drink is when I'm home nurse him. He drinks juice and water thoughout the day in a regular cup with a straw but if you try to sneak in extra milk he'll spit it out. I thought something was wrong with him also and am glad to hear he's not the only baby that has slowed dramatically the amount of milk he takes in.

hi my daughter has seemed to go off her formula too she is 9 months she now has a 8 oz bottle with breakfast and a 8 oz bottle at night ,and seems quite happy on that .

My Daughter is going to be 10 months tomorrow. I noticed the same drop in desire for the bottle about 2 weeks ago. My pediatrician said that as long as my daughter was getting 16 ounces a day, she would be getting all of the reqired nutrition.

My daughter usually has 4 oz when she wakes up. Solids for breakfast. Some solids and 4 oz at lunch. 4 oz in the afternoon. Solids for dinner and then 4-8 ox before bed. So, that's about normal, right?

my DD was breastfed up to 4 months then went to whole milk and has been fine. only gets a bottle when taking naps and bedtime and gets juice in sippy at meal time. dr has done blood work twice and both came back fine they seemed shocked to see a baby on cows milk at a young age and not be anemic or with any other problems. she eats any and everything and is a chunk!!!!

We have a nurse who sees our daughter, and she suggested starting her on cow's milk (whole milk until 2) in a sippy cup at meals. She has also had a decrease in the number of bottles she wants, so the milk in a cup is to start introducing non-formula, non-bottle ways of getting fluids.

Thank you guys for your input!! It makes me feel a lot better that it's normal and he's not getting sick or something. I guess it's just time to start cuttin back on the milk and beefing up on the solids

My son is almost 10 months old and he drinks 26oz a day plus solids. Your son is getting to the age where he won't be on formula for much longer so it might be good that he doesn't drink as much, it may not be as hard to wean him off of it.

Oh I forgot about the afternoon bottle between lunch and dinner, but sometimes (depending on if she naps again or what we r doing) she doesn't need one, sometimes she does.

Yes my little one drinks a lot less milk now. We r pretty much on the same schedule as Michelle, solids for breakfast, a bottle before nap, solids for lunch, solids for dinner, and then a bedtime bottle. She drinks anywhere from 16-22 ounces a day

Cameron will be 10 months on the 11th and has shown a decrease in his formula so much that we only do three bottles a day now totaling approx 20 oz. We do solids for breakfast with a bottle, solids for lunch, afternoon bottle, solids for dinner, and a bedtime bottle.
