I'd say as long as he's eating it willingly and you're not forcing it, then yes, it is probably fine. Mine is 7 weeks also, and he usually eats 4-6oz, but on occasion eats up to 8.

I'd say most doctors would think that it's too much...but I'm a full believer that if your baby is hungry and willing to eat that, then feed him. He's a growing baby and knows what he needs. My son is 9 weeks now and eats 5-6 oz every 3 hours.

I guess it depends on how big he is... my little guy is 9 weeks today and drinks 6-8 oz about every 3... he is almost 15 lbs. Was 8 lb 15.8 oz at birth

You can't over feed a baby that is what my first Health visitor said to me when I had Jessica (my first) she was draining 8/9 7oz bottles by the time she was 3 weeks old.

If your baby is taking the full 7oz and isn't bringing back up most of it, it should be fine, with Jessica I ended up putting her on Aptamil Extra hungry formula at 2 weeks old but that didn't work by the time she was 2 and half months old she was on 8 9oz bottles a day so I was advised to early wean which I was unsure about as they normally tell you not to until 6 months and only at 4months if they tell you. but hey if baby is hungry then that's how it goes. Honestly though 7oz is ok if he isn't sicking it up afterwards. At least you can get him to drink it lol, with my youngest (2months) she can't even handle 4oz bottles, she wasn't feeding from the start as she was jaundice for 4/5 weeks after birth that only cleared when I stopped breastfeeding due to complications from antidepressants that weren't supposed to interfer with breastfeeding but did which I'm even more depressed about!

Anyways if he's happy on it he'll be fine, he'll also let you know if he doesn't want anymore!!

My little man just turned two months and is around 15-16lbs and eating quite a bit as well..but he started out a big boy :)

It's absolutely ok! When my son was 3 weeks old he was eating 5 oz. Babies don't usually eat if they aren't hungry unless they are upset and need comforting, but you can tell if they have had too much if they keep spitting it up. Sounds like you are doing a great job! Nice work, mommy! :-)

i agree with Rachel. As long as your not forcing it then it's okay...my daughter's pediatrician told my that babies know how much they need

absolutely my daughter started eating 6 oz when she was 7 or 8 weeks old . It really just depends on your baby and the size of their appetite.

Wow, that's a lot! But babies won't eat if they aren't hungry. He could be in the middle of a growth spurt and needing a little more. As long as he isn't vomiting and seems content, it should be fine.

Well if it is breast milk then I don't think so...if it is formula then you should check to see how much weight he has gained. Also, if it is just a one time thing then he might have just been extra hungry. Something to consider too is that your baby might be going through, starting or finishing its 6 week growth spurt. If you are truly concerned you should call your nurse or Dr.
