All of my three were taking juice once and a while by 4-6 months. They all still get juice at ages 2, 4, and 8. The eat well balanced diets and do not have any unusal dental problems. Just don't let them fall asleep drinking juice because them the sugar just sits on their teeth. There's really no reason not to give it to them. It won't hurt them to have it. To each their own. As long as you as their mother's feels okay giving it to them then it's fine. Plus starting solids can sometimes make bowel movements harder, the juice will help with that. I'd say go for it!!!

I was giving my son water and juice when he turned 6 months (we were having a pretty hot summer) I made sure I either got the baby juice (heinz make one) or I watered down normal juice for him, his two now and has no side effects and still loves both water and juice :)

My Dr said I could if I wanted too but as long as he drinks enough formula/breastmilk you do not HAVE too. I mix his rice cereal with white grape juice that's all for now. I think it's really up to you and your baby.

I have been told to try and refrain from giving juice but I give Nicole cooled boiled water with her solids at lunch time and dinner time. She seems to enjoy that.

So much variation in advice around the world! My understanding is no drinks except breastmilk/water/formula in the first year at least. Too much sugar in juice even if it is natural. There's no nutrtional need for juice so why bother?

My baby is 5 months old and has been getting juice since he was roughly 1 month old! The doctor said to give him equal parts juice and water because he was constipated a lot as a newborn apple juice is what they had me giving him. They dont really recomend giving them anything with flavor in it until they are 4 months old because it increases the likelyhood that they will develop food allergies but your baby is beyond that point.

i avoid giving any juice for ages, even watered done. I do it as a special treat. I feel that it's a bad habit for the child to get use to and is bad when they are older and getting teeth.

The doctors said it was OK at four months to start rice cereal, yellow/orange vegetables, and 1/2 water 1/2 juice(apple) bottles. I wanted until 8 months with first son and introduced it in a cup. I think that helped with getting him off the bottles earlier too. It's your baby and if your comfortable with it go for it, but it's not like they need juice to survive.

i was told by my doctor that my daughter could do that when she was 2 months old they can also have plain water just make sure to give him the same water that you use to make his bottles with. have fun! oh and ps they dont usually like it if the juice is to cold
