is he sleeping all night because my little man sleeps mainly ver night and a couple of hours in the morning but from like 11am till 8.30pm he is mainly awak with only little catnaps so if your little man is sleeping all night then i would say it is fine. is he crying during the time that he is awake or is he happy to just sit around because if he is settled then i would say he isn't tired

Wow it's amazing that everyone here has said the same thing that I was worried about. My daughter is almost 4 months old and she was the same way with cat naps for about 15 minutes every couple of hours and it used to wear me out because my husband watches her at night (from 5 pm on) and I get her all day before I work (6 pm to 1 am) I needed a nap so bad and I could never get a nap. Now, only a few weeks later she sleeps through the night (about 8 to 9 hours) and then gets up to eat, plays for about an hour, and then naps for a good hour up to 3 hours. It is a great blessing now and really helps mommy! In the afternoon most of the time she will doze off for about an hour around 4 or so. Hang in there!

I don't know about the carseat, but with napping, I have my baby up to eat and play for about 1 1/2 hours before I put her to sleep. I try to have her asleep before she hits the 2 hour mark. With babies this yourng, they need frequent nap times, even if it's just like 30 minutes it's good. My daughter won't fall asleep on her own during the day, she needs me to swaddle her and rock her to sleep. Bed time is the only time she falls asleep on her own.

My 3 month old little girl will have her feed....have a play and a giggle till she is tired then she falls asleep and is asleep for half an hour to an hour depending how tired she is then she wakes up and does it all over again but she does have a routine and she has been sleeping thru since she was 5 weeks old

some days my nearly 4 mth old only has a couple of 30 minute naps during the day but other days he has a few 2-3 hours sleeps. he also sleeps very well through the night, 8-12 hours. At this age, they really do need to be having a minimum of 14 hours sleep. you need to try different things to gret him to nap a bit more during the day. as the other mums have said, its all about routine, but babies, having a mind of their own often don't care for/about routine. its hard but keep trying.

Same thing here my little man is 3 months old also and is sleeping very well through the night sometimes for 12 hours.

The napping during the day is sort of getting on a schedule since I work night shift and refuse to get a babysitter everyday it is a must that he take some sort of nap. I have started giving him cereal after his morning bottle and play time and he usually will take a 3 hour nap at noon. Sometimes it feels like a struggle because he fights sleep so bad. I just swaddle him and rock him for 5 minutes and he is out. And if that doesn't work oh well "It won't be like this for long" and Im going to enjoy every minute of him!!!

I have the same problem with my 3 month old son.. He only cat naps during the day for sometimes only approximately 10 minutes. What I've noticed is that i work out my day around him. He wakes at 6-6:30 for nappy change, feed and then he wants to play. He'll get grumpy and then I just soothe him off to sleep. He'll sleep for approximately 10-15 minutes and then later on so that I can eat mu luch and do a few other household chores, about 2 hours before lunchtime, I would change the nappy, give him a bottle and then put him in the pram and go for a 30 minute walk.. once i know he's sleeping, i walk for a little bit longer and then come back home and have lunch. Usually once eating he wakes up.. and then another nappy change and play.. whilst doing household chores, I play with him and he gets tired again. Just keep trying everything. Although, Just try to keep them in a routine. I am too a first time mother and i've noticed a routine works wonders. Try and sleep with him if you have to when he has cat naps.

I have set a routine for my son who also battles to sleep in the day. Every 90 min I swaddle him and get him to sleep. It is also only for 30 min but it happens at least 4 time a day.

My 3 month old only sleeps for 40 mins to an hour a time during the day, but at more or less predictable times...She sleeps well at night so I am not worried and besides, when shes awake she's learning and developing more than she would if she slept all day...I think if they were not getting enough sleep they'd be grumpy.. Lots of nude time and kicking around seems to wear her out enough to go down! I am loving every second of it too! Best thing I ever did was have my precious little girl! ;0)

Catnapping is normal. They key is to try and develop a set schedule while they are young so that they learn to nap as htye grow. I try to follow a schedule of eat, sleep, play. Feed them to make them tired and let them play after their nap to work up an appetite to do it over again :) I have written a basic schedule fo ranyone who takes care of my little on e and ask that they follow it as closely as possible so that she has some consistency and she has started to develop a set pattern and is napping much better now.

When it comes to napping my 3 mo old daughter does the same thing. I don't worry about it, I figure if she's tired she'll nap and she sleeps great at night!
