My son is not too small but he is the smallest in my mothers group but i was 7 weeks prem and was very small as you could well imagine as long as your baby is healthy i dont think it matters how big or small they are

Dylan at 6 months was 19.5lbs and 28 3/4in long so he was in the 75th percintile for weight and 97th for height..they said he was way taller than most babies his age..but his dad is 6'4 so we figured he would be tall..he hasnt been to the doctor since so im not sure what his height and weight is..If your doctor is not worried I wouldn't be..she might just be petite!

My son is between the 10th and 15th percentile for weight. People are always telling me how skinny he is, because he is in the 75th percentile for height. He was 5lb 15oz at birth and now weighs 16lbs. He was born 3 weeks early though.

My daughter just got into the 30 percentile she was in the 3% up until the first of the year and that was just weight. Her height is a different story, she's only 26 1/2 inches but I was a small baby. I wouldn't be complaining because I have friends that have babies well into the 75 percentile and their babies are Chunky Monkeys.

My son has been in the 7th percentile since 2 months...as long as they are healthy and haven't dropped significantly you should be fine! I agree lysha I love that my little man is just now (over 8 months old) is still in 3-6 month clothes!!! He's getting tons of use out of things!

My daughter is small. At 6 mos she was 13 pounds and 23 inches...not sure about now but she wears 6 month clothes....well, I put her in those clothes but she can easily wear 3-6 month clothing and with dresses/T-shirts she can get by with 3 month sizes. Lol. She was in the 10th percentile for her weight. I don't mind... At least she's getting use of all her clothes!

My son is considered small for his age. But when I look at his weight for his height, he is quite big.

These are the links for the WHO standards.

As long as your baby is happy and healthy and is meeting milestones, then I would not worry. Our baby health nurse keeps telling me Liam is small, but I use my mothers instinct and my training as a kids ward nurse to know that he is fine. He wouldnt be on the verge of walking if he was undernourished.

I would be worried if she was 30% then dropped to 5% but if she has been on her own growth path since birth and has never dropped i wouldn't be concerned. My son dropped off his when he was 8 months old, about 1lb and the Dr was concerned and told me to feed him yogurt and it worked. He was back up in about a week. He is now 2.5yrs old and weighs 28lbs and is still considered small for his age but his father is 6'1 and 145lbs so they have no concerns because he is back on his chart. My daughter on the other hand who is 8 month old hasn't dropped off her chart yet and at her 6 month appointment 2 months ago she weighed 17lbs and this is where her growth curve should be. Don't look so much at the percentile as the curve. Remember every child is different on the chart and as long as they stay consistent with theirs then there is no need to worry. A little girl i watched when i was pregnant with my daughter was 9 months and 15lbs or so. She left my care for 2 months while i had my daughter and became adjusted and in those 2 months the person who was watching her wasn't feeding her the same as i was and she dropped in weight. I had to "pork her up" when she came back because her Dr was worried, but again only because she dropped off her chart.

5th percentile is still in the range of 'normal'. For those graphs to mean anything there have to be babies at all the percentile ends. As long as she's happy, healthy and growing she should be fine - just petite.

my daughter weighed 16 lbs 4 oz a week ago and is 28 inches long she was also born in july. sometimes i worry about her weight when she isnt interested in eating very much(which happens for a good week about once a month) but her doctor says that as long as she is growing (typically about an oz a week) i shouldnt worry that she is just skinny. she still wears 3-6 month clothes

My daughter isnt little but I was when I was a baby, My mum was really worried but eventually I got bigger! When I was 18months old my mum was still putting me in 6 to 9 months clothing.
