Hey Ladies,

Jus wondering if your July babies are rolling over yet? My Blake Matthew was born July 23. But, he was 5 weeks early so he shouldnt have came until the end of August. I have to take into consideration that he will be about a month behind... Also, what are some other things your babes are doing?

I.E. smiling, hands to mouth, reaching for things, smiling, laughing, cooing,

i know we shouldnt compare our babies, but as a new and anxious mother, im just wondering what other babies are up to

thanks

My son was born 4 days late, but according to all the doctors he is well advanced for his age. They say he acts more like a 7 or 8 month old, rather than almost being 4 months. Each baby is different.

My daughter was born 5th July she was 10 days early...
I don't like comparing babies milestones but it is a good guide I guess..
Hollie has slept through the night since she was 7 weeks old, she started smiling at 6 weeks and laughing 2 weeks ago. She reaches for her rattle if I put it in front of her and grabs it from me. She puts anything she can get hold of into her mouth and tries to pull the dummy out and hold her bottle on her own (very independent). She has been able to hold her head up for 4 weeks now and tries to pull herself forward to reach for her rattle on her tummy. Hollie can roll to her side but hasn't figured out how to get to her tummy on her own yet.. I think she is doing well for her age and is doing things in her own time.

my son was born 2 weeks early on July 26th. He has been smiling since 4-5 weeks. he now laughs but only for mommy and daddy not other people. he coos and squeals to get attention he also kicks and waves his arms when he gets excited. he just started reaching for things but is unsure how to grab so he can only bat at hanging toys. he also pushes toys or pacifiers into his mouth with both fists if it is close enough to him. He doesnt roll over all the way. He can roll onto his side but it takes a lot of effort. He does sleep thru the entire night (8 hrs +) starting about 2 weeks ago

My daughter also born July 5th, and 5 weeks early does not roll over yet. I think she is too content lying on her tummy to try. She does smile, laugh, and hands to mouth, as well as anything she has grabbed ahold of. She mostly makes gurgling sounds without specific sounds. She has been sleeping 6-7 hour stretches since she was 3 months.

My son Wyatt was born July 5th as well...only a week early. He gets pretty close to rolling from back to tummy...but throws a fit if we try to get him to roll from tummy to back. This last week he did a 8hr stretch of sleep too at night. Only done it once since then, so we are crossing our fingers that he does it again! He's a big napper during the day too. He's up maybe 2 hours and down for 2-3, then up for 2 and down for 2-3, etc (which makes life nice because I can get some things done or just take a short nap). He also brings his hands to his mouth...and now prefers his thumb to his pacifier. He just started giggling too! Mostly if you are tickling him, but still...AWESOME!

Hello! My daughter was born July 5th and she was 5 weeks early as well. She hasn't made any real attempts to roll over yet. However, last night she did have her first 8hr stretch thru the night. (but she also had her 4mos. needles yesterday too) so we'll see what tonight brings. We get all kinds of smiles and the cooing has just started in the past 1-2 weeks. I am anxiously awaiting that first giggle!

I'm the mother of four children with my youngest being 3 months old and the only girl! Abby smiles, laughs, coos & "talks," rolls over both ways, tracks everyone with her eyes, clasps her hands together, reaches out for things, bears some weight on her legs, holds her head very steady and is just starting to work on sitting up and inching forward while on her tummy. I think she just wants to keep up with her big brothers! lol

My little one just turned 3 months as well.... he was 6 1/2 weeks early. He has started smiling, cooing, hands to mouth and we can get a laugh out of him when we tickle him, but as far as rolling over is concerned, has not happened yet :-) He likes to kick his legs and wave his arms...but he still is not reaching for things... I think that normally happens around 3 months, with a full term baby.....
Enjoy your little one, they are only little for such a short time! Before you know it, they are toddlers! Which is a completely new ball game!

Your baby sounds right on target, even advance for being a month early! My daughter was born 2 weeks late on July 28th, she has rolled over twice but not any since then (that was a week ago). With my first 2 kids (both boys) neither had rolled over by 3 months. HTH. My daughter is smiling a lot, I have gotten her to laugh a couple times, she naws on everything in sight but hasn't found her feet yet, and she loves attention, lol.

My daughter was born 28July and was about 3 weeks early. She is cooing, smiling, semi lifting her head, making eye contact, and soothing herself with hands to mouth. She also has a fascination with pulling my hair if it's down. When her daddy is holding her she is always pulling at his chest hair. My daughter has been given a great bill of health at every checkup doc said for a preemie she is doing better than expected. So I'd say you son is doing just fine. Hope this gives you some relief.

My daughter was born July 28th. She can only roll on each side but does not roll completely over. I think in another day or so she will. She is doing everything else tho as far as cooing, smiling etc.

Hi there - I have fraternal twin boys that were 8 weeks early (so they should only be 1 month old) - one is able to put his hands to his mouth and the other can't, but are smiling, cooing and just starting to laugh (or at least it sounds like it) but neither have been able to roll over yet. They are also about 2 lbs apart and one is still on supplemental oxygen during bedtime, but hopefully not much longer.

My daughter was born on July 28 (she was a week late). She doesn't roll over yet except from her back to her side. My baby is starting to smile and laugh more though. She doesn't really reach for things however...I heard that 4 months is the average age the role over at...

Im a young mum of four, My youngest born 24 july, he's full of smiles & coo's but no laughing jet, he rolls onto his side but not onto his tummy yet. He sleeps between 7-10 hours at night most nights now which is awsome.

The one thing ive learnt with haveing 4 children is each one is different. Dont rush them to do something just because every other baby seems to be doing it already. They grow up to fast as it is these days.

Wow everyone out there has wonderful babies!!! My little one is right on track, and I am relishing every moment that he isn't walking or talking, because I know I am going to miss him just being a baby. He gave us a giggle the other day, and it made me sooo happy, but also a little sad, cause he is growing so fast! Sometimes I just sit and hold him for hours, cant get enought baby snuggles! I appreciate it while I have still got it!

My son was born July 21st, 2009. One week early.....He rolled over at one month, smiles all the time but we are still patiently waiting for that first laugh. I know exactly how you feel I compare my baby to a friends all the time. I need to quit that. Lol :)

My son rolled over at 12 days, he coos and makes all kinds of sounds when we talk to him, it is like he is trying to talk back. He holds his head up very well and has pushed himself forward a little when he is lying on his tummy on the floor.

My little guy can roll over, smile, laugh, coo, hands to mouth and reach for things. Just remember all babies are different. Don't worry. Your child's doctor will talk to you if there is any concerns. I know being a first time mommy can be kinda scary. Just remember to breathe and enjoy. It goes by too quickly. Before you know it he will be walking and you will miss these day. Believe me I know. My oldest is 21 months and sometimes I look back missing when he was my youngest age. It seems like yesterday!

My 3 month old son rolls over, laughs, smiles, and he reaches for people when he wants them to hold him. He also puts his hands to his mouth and shouts and he likes to put his hands together so it looks like he is praying.

My son was born 5/7/09 (exactly on time), had his first smile about 5 weeks, rolls over from front to back at about 10 weeks, laughed and rolls over from back to front at 12 weeks of age. He loves sucking on his hands, and coos, kicks his legs. Lately he has a habit of pulling his dummy out of his mouth and waving it about.

My baby was born 3 days early on July 9th. He gave us his first proper smile at 4 1/2 weeks, coos all the time, squeals with delight and gurgles alot. No giggling or laughing yet. He has bean able to put his hands together for a few weeks and lifts his head up really well, as I've been doing "tummy time" with him since 2 weeks old. He can hold rattles but most of the time I have to place his fingers around the rattle, however, he's super strong at holding hair lol and fingers, clothes etc. He cannot roll over yet properly but has done it a few times by accident I think. He can, however, pull his top half up from lying against my propped up legs. He is also sleeping 10/11 hours through the night on a regular basis, and always at least goes 6 hours before waking up, which we're told we're very lucky for and isn't really the norm. He doesn't nap much through the day though, maybe an hour every 4 if I'm lucky.

You are right, we should not compare our babies, every one is different, but I understand your anxiousness as a new mother. We have to just enjoy our precious bundles, and as long as they are healthy, and developing, try to enjoy each day. I hope you are getting sleep. Good luck.x

My daughter was due in August too! she was 35 weeks also.

She rolled over onto her tummy once at 2 months but it was by accident and only happened once..she kinda freaked out. She puts her hands to her mouth, coos, shouts to get our attention, kicks her legs, waves her arms, smiles, doesn't laugh, she grabs things but only by reflex...she doesn't see something then grab it. She lifts her body up when on her tummy and can look straight foward but usually just for a little while before going back down and struggling then crying. lol.
