Gabriel used to be a brilliant sleeper sleeping from 9.30 til around 6.30 every night all my mum friends were jealous. eight weeks ago this all changed We have done nothing different we still have the bath, massage, feed routine but have had to do it earlier as he looks exhausted by 7.30 and is very cranky. He goes to sleep in his own nursery very easily. Yet he started waking once a night about 2 am and it has gradually got more until it is now about 4 times a night..

He is not crying just shouting growling and sometimes crying but the longer i leave him the more he wakes himself up. If i catch it earlier sometimes i can just put his dummy in and get him to sleep but sometimes it takes a full bottle and a cuddle. I am back at work on 1 Feb and won't be able tro cope with this tiredness any ideas?

My Daughter is doing the same thing. I have been asking a lot of people and i have figured out that she is having a growth spurt and wakes up and thinks she is starving. So last night I gave her oatmeal at 6 and then a little more at 7 just to "top her off" she nursed a little and then went to sleep at 8. Last night she did great. So I at least tired that and it she did great. I think I will keep that up for a bit. just so she has a full tummy.

my 5 month old daughter was also a wonderful sleeper sleeping for 12 hrs at night. then a couple of weeks ago she started waking every 2 hrs she had her binki and does not take a feeding at night so at first i was at a total loss but i knew that she was teething and figured it must be harder on her at night. so i was told to elevate her crib mattress with a blanket and give her teething tablets as opposed to oragel. she no longer wakes up every 2 hrs and most nights doesnt wake up at all anymore.

I am having the same problem..not quite so bad. Ethan has always been a brilliant sleeper and has been going from 7pm until 7.15 am for about 2 months now...we usually dont hear a sound. This last week he has been waking in the evenings every hour on the hour from going to bed.... it normally stops before midnight purely I think because he is so tired by this point. He really screams and it takes alot of calming to get him back to bed.... I have resisted giving him a bottle because i dont want it to become a habit.

I have looked into it on the net and lots of people have said that babies have a growth spurt at 6 months and this can wake them... he has been mega hungry today. also it could be teething and hes been dribbling alot and the third thing people have said is that it could be that he is learning a new skill in the day and his brain is in overload which wakes him at night.......

I personally think its a growth spurt and possibly a little bit of teething going on.... I am hoping it will just pass and he will go back to being an angel again! I have decided if he wakes tonight i will give him a bottle cos he has been so hungry today.
