my daughter is 2 years and 5 months and still show no sign of her 2 bottom teeth but she has all the rest. she was born with them but when i took her to the doctor, he said not to bother with it and i think she eventually swallowed them as a baby. Is this normal.

Hey Sonja! Just wanted to check when did your son finally cut his first tooth?? My daughter is 18 months and still no teetht. I take her to the dentist every three months for check ups and they reassure me that the teeth are there under the gums but just not breaking through....she goes back next month at 19 months but still no signs of a tooth!

Have his thyroid tested. My neice's teeth came in normally, but when she was very young, she fell and knocked her 2 front teeth out. After a very long while, her teeth still didn't grow in when they should have. Make a long story short. They found HYPOthyroid, not HYPER, which temporarily stuns growth and inhibits tooth growth. Don't panic though. If that's what it is...it's just a pill he would have to take. The test is a blood test. Good luck.

My little girl did not get any till she was 14 months old and it was her 2 year molers that came in first. she is 18 months now and she just got her 2 bottom teeth about 2 months & last month her top two. I had a denstist apointment made for her when she was 13 months and we could see them in there.. Also she said when they come in late the fall out late but it is better if they get them latter that they are stronger.. Knowing that they were there did make me fell better.

Don't worry, my little girl didn't have teeth until 12 months, but since the first appears, every two-three weeks, she's having a new tooth. Every child has its own rythm for everything and also for tooth. If you are concerned, ask you doctor.

wow,i know they all do things at thier own pace...i guess we are the minority here!! but, my 18 month old daughter has all her teeth but her 2 yr molars...seems they all came in at once! we had a few rough weeks :-( a couple are still not all the way through-but she is able to use them. I have a niece who is almost 20 mos old and she also has all of hers but her 2 yr molars. I'm sure your lil guy will get sum soon!!!

My girl is 18 mouths and she has four molars already and six teeth but she didn't start to get teeth until 10 mouths old even she was teething since 3 mouths but no teeth my doctor said its fine if babies don't get teeth until 1 yrs old but the doctor is concern when there about 18 mouths so I would talk to your doctor about it to make you feel better but don't worry about it all babies are different.

My son got his first two teeth at once at 9 monthes old and even since the teeth come in, they have been popping up in groups on 2 or 4 he's almost got them all now. Anyways at 8 months old i took him to my doc and she told me its sign of strong teeth when they come in late, and it was nothing to worry about.

My 18 month old has all but 3 teeth left to go.....His teeth started to come in at 5 months and then it was nothing for almost 7 months...and then it was one right after the other..two in the last 3 weeks all while having a double ear infection since Thanksgiving...so it has not been so great over at our house..ha ha! But I have learned to read the teething signs and help make him as comfortable as possible.....

i know someone whose daughter didn;t get her first tooth until she was 16 months old. Has your doctor done xrays? Have they suggested that they may have to cut the gums? I know her doctor told her that they may have had to do that

my daughter is almost 18 months and has only her bottom two front teeth. her pedi is not concerned. I had one son who got his first tooth at 3 months, the other son got his first tooth at 13 months....they are all different, they will come eventually!

WOW! I bet it's so cute :o) I love a gummy smile! :o) I think though, that you should deffinatly take him to the dentist for a check up....just to make sure everything is on track....the other moms say it isnt unusual, so maybe it isnt...but just to make sure....I'd get a check up! ♥

My little guy didn't have any teeth until he was about 14 months, then he got his bottom two front ones. Then, a couple weeks ago, he popped out the top front two (still little nubbies though). Now, it looks like he's getting a third and possibly a fourth on top! At his year well baby check, I was concerned enough about his complete lack of teeth that I asked the doctor if anyone ever just didn't grow teeth and if I should be concerned. He couldn't answer because he was trying too hard not to laugh at me.

lol...some children are born with teeth...really. Your son will get his teeth, he's just a late bloomer =] Dont think that just because he doesnt have teeth that you dont have to "brush" ...healthy gums means healthy teeth!! I worked with teeth...can you tell? lol
