Not sitting up unassisted at 7 months?

Oh. My son is almost 8 months and he's been learning to use his hands. I'm worried about him not sitting up or crawling. I try to get him to do these ever single day. If yuu prop yerr baby up more often then he will learn. But yerr baby is also taking time to learn so don't rush it. He will get it. :)

Don't think for a minute that your child is lagging in any way just b/c he isn't according to "the charts." each and every baby is different. My little girl didn't sit up until about 7months...army crawled until 10 months before a normal crawl...and didn't walk until 15 months. My son was sitting unassisted at 5 months, was army crawling just before 7 months and is already starting to pull himself up on drawers and low furniture....he's not standing by any means yet. he mastered going from belly to sitting up on his own before he started army crawling too...it's just each baby is their own and learn at all different levels. No baby is "by the book" Now if your child isn't sitting unassisted by 9-12months....only then would i be concerned. I also noticed one time watching a dr. that if you hold your little ones hands and assist them in sitting up, it definately helps them use those belly muscles to pull themselves to you. I think that's why my son sat up so early is because i've done that for him since he was born. At first they're just kind of floppy that early, but they slowly start to pull themselves toward you. Every time i'd get my son up from a lying down position to holding him i'd just hold his hands and let him do a little belly muscle work to get himself up...so sitting wasn't no trouble for him!!

Tyrese can sit up unassistant for a few secs.. otherwise he flops over. He however have just started to crawl... So i doubt he gonna wanna sit up for a while.. *will be 8 months on the 16th*

dont worry too much my son is nearly 8 months and hasnt mastered it yet! hes just happy the way he is is will come x

All babies are so different - my girl gets so cranky when I put her on her tummy and she has made no attempts of crawling yet AT ALL - I have seen her roll from tummy to back and back again once and she is 8 months next week, I am not worried about it though although many babies are crawling already at this stage. she has been sitting up unaided for long periods of time since 5.5 months. it is such a cliche but all babies have different personalities which means they have different ways of doing things. I tried leaving toys out of her reach and she just tugs at her playmats until she can lean forward and grab the toy! I think she will just skip crawling altogether...

My point is - your boy sounds content and he is rolling (YAY!!) and you sounds like a brilliant mum so maybe he is just laid back and prefers the closeness of you when he sits!

My baby will be 7 months on the 3rd if March she can sit up for a little bit by herself before falling over she can crawl stand up on things i think she gonna walk early but every baby is different do you hold him alot if so thats it you have to put him on the floor with a blanket thats what i did for my baby girl and she just started to do everything on her own.

My sons the same,, they will get their in their own time. i do the same as Browyn and sit behind with me legs so when he loses his balance its only me he hits. Also good to leave them on their backs to roll over, and when they are on the tummy their get stronger each time as they try and lift themselfs.

My son rolls all the time but hasnt made much of an effort to crawl,, sticks his bum in the air occasionally lol.

my daughter will be 7 months tomorrow, and she isn't yet sitting up unassisted for long periods of time. When she does, she is sitting between my legs, facing my toes, so that when she falls, she is caught on me legs and doesn't whack her head on the floor. I think from what i read somewhere that they need to be able to roll heaps before they can sit on their own - the rolling strengthens their core muscles.

Ask your doctor or nurse if you are worried, but i wouldn't be too worried yet. Every baby does things in their own time. K is more mobile than our neighbours baby, who is a month older, and who is only just rolling back to front and front to back. K has been doing this for just over a month and commando crawling for about as long.
