My first was 8 hrs he was 16 days early but it was textbook. My second was 4 days late and I woke at 7am, told my husband that I was going to put on the kettle to make tea. I made it half way down the stairs and told him we didn't have time for tea. My daughter was born less than an hour later.

they are all different! they say the 2nd time around it can go faster bc you know what to expect, how to push, etc. but i pushed my first one out in 10 min tops. my sister in law had her first in a few hrs.. second one a little quicker and the 3rd was an 18 hr labor. there is no rule of thumb for it!

It varies with each woman. I have heard that as well, but it sometimes isnt the case. My cousin's first was 6hrs labour, her second was 17hrs. My sister-in-law's first was 24hrs, her second was 3hrs. Personally, my first was 39hrs and am 26wks pregnant with my second so I would be happy with 20hrs and under! As long as baby and mum are healthy at the end of it is the most important thing. Good luck!

My first was 3 weeks early, my water broke, didn't have any contractions was put on petocin and from my water breaking till having my daughter was 16 hours. Only had contractions for 8 hours of it though. For my second, 1 day early, I had started contractions 15 min apart at 8:30pm, then 2 hours later they were 3-5min apart and by the time we got to the hospital @ midnight he was born 1 hour 45 min later, and my water broke while pushing. I also had a lot more braxton hicks, for weeks, with my second.

Everyone told me the second was faster, especially the pushing and since they were less than 2 years apart and for me that was accurate.

lol I wish!!! I hope it 1/2's again when you have your 3rd LOL

Our 3rd daughter is due in 7 weeks 3 days...boy I wish it were true.

Our first daughter was 7 hrs start to finish..our 2nd daughter was 11 hrs start to finish (I ended up needing assistance to deliver her because she was stuck..forcepts) otherwise I am sure it would have been much sooner.

It all depends there is no "right" answer to this question. Sorry. For me my second came really fast (almost had him in the car ride to the hospital) Then my third I had to be induced and then a c section. It is different with every child, mother and labor. Dont worry about the labor (which no one really has any control over) just ENJOY the life of the new child!

do you mean shorter then your first labour? ive heard from alot of people its supposes to be shorter the more babies you have . but every labour and every baby is different so its not garenteed it will be shorter . in my experience though, the second was shorter . my first was premeture and 5 pounds 4 ounces and labour was 21 hours . my second was born at 38 weeks and was 6 pounds 4 ounces and was only 4 hour labour.
