Sippy cup dramas

I had that problem with my daughter who will be 1 on Sunday. The only sippy cup that seems to work for her are the Nuk brand ones with the handles. They have a silicone or latex spout and she drinks everything in them.

Some different things that have worked with each if my 5:
May not be ready to give up the bottle, which is ok. Just make sure you're not giving a bottle in bed..
Try a cup with handles on the side.
Tupperware and I think rubbermaid have kids cups with clear lids that fit. has a small lip. Not spill proof though.
Keep introducing it everytime you have a meal. They will eventually realize it is accociated with mealtime. Persistance pays off. Don't worry about it either. Just turning 1 is still young! They may simply not be ready. Enjoy your summer!

have you tried working with a staw? try plugging a staw with your finger and teaching her to suck from the end of it with liqiud ( I used icewater) ..do this several times before putting the staw IN the cup and letting her her it up herself. They actully catch on to this pretty fast. They make a sippy called flip and sip that has a little staw, Cadde was using it in 2 days. (she has never used a bottle, but has problems with cups) they are GREAT!!

My daughter will be one on the 24th and just will not drink out of a sippy cup! I've tried several different kinds and she'll hold it and open her mouth but then she puts it into her mouth and just holds her mouth there around it, the little stinker! lol ;)

She does drink out of an adult cup when I give it to her, so I try to get her to do that. She doesn't like to drink water (she's like her dad in that respect haha) but will drink it if I flavor it with a little cordial.

Hope that your daughter starts to cooperate with you! If not, I guess you can always try giving her an adult cup and see how she responds to that. Good luck! :)

mine turned 1yr on july 1st - he will drink some juice or water from a sippy cup but for meal/snack time still prefers the bottle for milk
the guidelines at my peds office suggest the baby be off the bottle by about 18mos so i am not going to push him yet
i am going to give it till 15mos and then start with one bottle a day
maybe for mine the breakfast bottle
then will see what happens

thank you so much i found a small training sippy cup designed for 6 month olds she seems to have taken tto it after the dramas of not having her milk in a bottle, she chucked a bug hissy fit, i am also limiting her having her dummy as well to only when she is going to sleep plus she is sick i might have to try 1 thing at a time lol thank you again

yopu could try offering her an adult cup she might like doing it like mommy and daddy, and then after a week or so offer her her own sippy cup not sure if it'll work but it might
