Waking in the middle of the night

I read that u haven't started your baby of 4.5 month old on rice cereal yet that u wanted to wait till 6 months...My doctor told me to start my baby on stage 1 at 4 months it definitely fills him up more and he is not as hungry before bed as he used to be...I know other mothers that have even started their babies on rice cereal earlier...My baby loves it!!! Maybe ask your doctor for sure...

My four and a half month old is doing the exact same thing right now...Since he has been a month he has been sleeping at least 9 hours straight through the night...This has occured for me as well for the past week every night....I have let him cry it out a few nights but the crying lasted far too long, LOL...I figured he would cry himself to sleep at some point but after listening to it for 20 min. straight I would finally go in there and try to rock him to sleep..2 of the nights I had to feed him a little bit of his bottle to put him back to sleep even though he ate soon before I had put him down in the first place...Last night I again tried to just let him cry and didn't go in there right away once again and the crying only lasted bout 5 min. that time and he fell right back to sleep without me doing anything..Now he is teething so I figured maybe he has been waking up in the middle of the night because off that, not sure what is causing him to do this lately never though it could be because he is testing me but that is certainly a possibility...I'm am totally open to ideas here myself as well if any other mothers out there have solved this problem with their babies...

read the book "on Becoming BabyWise" by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam. it teaches the art of teaching your child to sleep all night. Best book in the world! LOL My little girl has been sleeping through the night since she was 7 weeks. And the book will tell you specifically what to do about the sudden "awakenings"

I think it could be your baby teething. Is she drooling a lot and rubbing her gums? We have the same thing going on, our boy would sleep through the night and now often wakes once. We leave him unless he cries, often he will put himself back to sleep, but if he cries we feed him and give him a couple of "Hylands" teething tablets, they are organic, so 100% natural. that seems to settle him a lot quicker back to sleep, if we don't give him them, it can take an hour or so to settle him. If he has temperature (they can a lot when teething), he gets a small amount of infant tylenol, we checked wit our doctor first before doing this, I suggest you do the same.

Hmmm, I wish I could help you more. All I can say is be patient, maybe she is going through a growth spurt. Does she breast feed or formula?

I started mine baby on rice cereal when she was two months old and the drs said that was fine. Its not going to hurt her. She is eating stage one on baby food already.

I have had the same problem with my 4.5 month old for the past week. She used to sleep for up to 5 and a half to six hours before her one and only feeding during the night. Now she doesn't sleep for more than 4 hours and gets up 2-3 times a night to BF, then won't go back to sleep for at least an hour sometimes 2! She doesn't really cry, but she talks really loudly to herself as if playing, and her crib aquarium rarely helps her soothe herself to sleep. I've read that around 4 months they could go through a growth spurt and that could be causing the wakings, but I don't know why she won't do back to sleep! We are thinking about starting her on rice cereal, even though I really wanted to wait until closer to 6 months.

I have a four month old and she wakes up in the middle of the night. I gave her a silk blanket she rubs it against her face and sometimes puts herself to sleep. Then I would always turn her music box on and gave her binky to her and she would go back to sleep. Have you tried that?? It works for me.

My 4 month old is doing the same thing, and was sleeping through the night like yours. I heard that babies go through a sleep regression stage when they're around 4 months old, but I don't know if that's true or not.
